I've lived in Uptown for over a year and a half. And when I came across this bar over a year ago... I found it to be refreshing to be away from the bars on Halsted. I remember discussing with friends how we were going to spend out summer up north, rather than going to BT... Summer came and went. I think I've been to Atmosphere 3 times since the first time.... I dunno what happened because we were ALL about it. I wish there was more pull to drive more traffic up there... It would be so much fun if we could get them to be busier! @mosphere is possibly my new favorite bar. Or at least my new favorite place to get an ego boost. I've never been told I was beautiful more times that last night at @mosphere. I don't care that the men who were telling me were gay, they were sincere dang it, I did look cute! For me Thursday nights may be the way to go. Three dollar well drinks? Check. Strong drinks, mediocre talent dancing in their underwear. Place is kinda dated, it's got a distinct 1970's, gay sex is still taboo feel. I'd say it's okay for a quick drink, but not all night... Unless of course you're ugly. If you're ugly, you may get turned on by the mediocre dancers. If that's the case, bring your singles so you can keep creeping on those guys and making pathetic attempts to touch their junk! :) read more

YAWN.....RUDE.... Rarely any one in here and when it is crowded, the crowd is not fun and not pretty. Even the go go boys can't make this place rock. Most recently (and for the last time), I went in with some friends and was so disappointed. Bartenders with attitude that don't know how to handle a crowd. I don't care if you are gay or straight or bi---learn to bartend boys and girls!! Yeah, serve all your friends first and ignore everyone else at the bar. Very nice. After waiting 15 minutes for a drink, the bartender continued to ignore me when a group of his friends walked in and pushed their way to his station. So wait another 5 minutes as the bartender does shots with all this friends and just about everyone else at the other end of the bar. Then I called the bartender over (politely, I called him over since I have worked as a bartender and I get it) and he shouted "WAIT YOUR TURN MF!!" Well, that was enough for me so my friends and I left and went down the street to a more friendly and fun bar. I recommend the management there watch their bartenders more carefully and maybe train them in customer service. Unless of course you are trying to be Mini-Bar, then, well, good luck with that. The door staff seemed very nice so that was a surprise. Maybe they should train your bartenders. Won't be back. read more

Having been in my share of similar spots, I keep coming back to this one because it just seems to have a more "up" vibe to it. Whether that's the staff, the patrons who are refreshingly not the primping Halsted lot, the open windows facing Clark, or the distracting rugby players on the screens, you've got me, but that plus a clean washroom adds up to a nice spot to put yourself under the hammer and put together a proper hangover. read more

You gotta love @mosphere when you're in Andersonville. My friends like to stop in here when we are in the area. They pour the drinks stiff and that's not the only thing.. they have male dancers on Friday and Saturday nights. It gives you something to look at while you're in there. They also have eye candy on the plasmas so you have something else to look at. The bartenders are sweet and they like to give you some extra vodka with your cocktail! read more

For the warmer months @mosphere gets a four star review. I love going there on a weeknight when it is nearly empty and sitting at a table in the window with a couple friends for hours. Somehow I always seem to end up there on dollar drink night as well. Do they have them that often or is it just a fluke? I don't know. i'm down! i recently moved to the andersonville area. the roommate & i were getting bored of drinking in our kitchen so we took a walk down to clark and heard music so popped in here.. there were plenty of people here, yet still lots of room - my kind of bar. i dislike going to places that are super packed. plenty of eye candy to go around. my only complaint: the drinks. they're just...off. some how. but hey. i was definitely not sober by the time we got here so it's all good! read more

Atmosphere is atmosphere you want to be when it comes to going out to a bar/lounge. The stuff is friendly and the service is great. Their entertainment shows are one of a kind. I strongly recommend that place. Go and see it for yourself. read more

Oh @mosphere, how you make me giggle! As a semi-pro "fag hag," I've been to few places that are more unabashedly gay. I don't know if it is the madonna techno or the boys in lamé hot shorts, but this place sort of seems like how a gay bar would be in the movies. read more

I've consistently enjoyed @mosphere since it opened. It's definitely my favorite bar in Andersonville. The staff is genuinely friendly and conversational, and the dancers are hot more often than not. Excellent sounds come out of the DJ booth! read more

So I have been to @mosphere a couple of times and I just don't get it, the prices are good, the service is attentive and friendly, but I think this bar is not sure what it is. One night they had strippers, but there isn't really a stage, more of a podium so it was kinda ackward. I want one tuesday night and it was pretty dead, but they were blasting generic diva pop with the disco ball going full force and horrible, weird, almost painfully softcore porn on the tvs behind the bar. I love the exposed brick, and the raised area in front, but I honestly think they should take advantage of it. It's not in boystown, and thankfully bar patrons in Andersonville see that as a plus, so I think they should embrace their surroundings and the appeal, at least for me would go way up. I wouldn't hesitate to return given the occasion, but definitely very low on my list of gay bars. read more

Known by name, I am always taken care of and have a great time at this place. Sure its not crazy busy all the time and not in boystown but this is my fun place in Aville. **** Disclaimer the 5 Stars are for the Bartender, the bar would normally get 3 stars from me at the most! This past Sunday some friends and I decided to take a break from all the Market Days hoopla and headed up to Andersonville for lunch and cocktails. We ended up at @tmosphere, only because of the big open windows overlooking Clark St. and it seems a bit dead and low key. Well first off my experience in the past with @mosphere has never been the best. Usually the bartenders are rude, or are drunk and rude. Well this Sunday we where met by their bartender Jorge, who I must say is HOT but not only that is NICE and personable. As soon as we got their he greeted us with a smile, asked us how we where doing and took our drink order. He was quick, his drinks are good and he doesn't offer any attitude! Even though @tmosphere isn't the prettiest or hottest place to be, I would definitely go back to visit Jorge again. He is there early evening so a good starting point for a night out! read more

This is one of my favorite bars in the city, one where I feel very comfortable and not out of place. The neighborhood would not be the same without it and frankly I would not know where else to go to find this kind of ambiance. The music is good, especially on the weekends, but music really is a matter of taste. Can't please everyone! The bartenders are friendly and make you feel welcome... even more when they happen to take their shirts off! Also the best place to come and watch dancers, from Wednesday to Saturday. And for those early night people, they even have a show at 7pm on Fridays! The new bi-weekly Sunday night drag show is fun and entertaining and really doesn't get all the hype it deserves. Miss Munro and her partners are fantastic. I could deal with an extra dancer or 2, but, yet again, this is a matter of taste ;-) read more

Great neighborhood place to hang out! All of the bartenders and staff are so friendly, and the owner Charlie is maybe the nicest guy ever. I contacted him about reserving some seating/table space last weekend for a bachelorette party, and he was so friendly and accommodating! Cheap drinks, good beats, waxed chests - what more can you ask for? We had an awesome time, can't wait to go back and check out a drag show or two in the future. read more

Atmosphere is a nice little bar in Andersonville. I like the warm feel of it, yet it can draw in a big crowd some nights. I have found the staff to be warm and pleasant. I am not sure how to explain it other than it just feels like one of those old bars, but with a touch of the modern. Its a good bar and I thought it deserved mentioning. Great place. They have some good Djs and have had some interesting entertainment. Its a bit of a trek for me, but I find myself going more toward Andersonville instead of boystown if I am going to hit the city. Starting to get more clubs around there. Something different yet something good. A nice place to try on the weekend. read more

The staff are fun and festive. The place needs to be aired out occasionally. While the dancers on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays are "hit-and-miss." Generally, this can be a fun place to hang out, have a beer, laugh with people and actually spend a pleasant evening of drinking. read more
