Don't hesitate with Dr. Balsamo! He is meticulous in what he does in surgery. My hip replacement is perfect. I'm so grateful!

Right across the street from Mt Trashmore, the building had a lovely curb appeal to it and refreshing to see the newness of it all. Upon entering, I didn't have to deal with the stairs or anything like that which was good when you have back pain. It was very clean inside, quiet, and calming which made my nerves ease quite a bit right away. The receptionist were prompt and very easy to work with especially since I had my info put in prior to the appointment. That alone was a great experience as I apparently didn't fill out the pre-registered form correctly the week before however, I received a call and the receptionist walked me through it all filling it out for me which was lovely! It was less than ten minutes upon arrival until I went back with the assistants to which went over my info and made sure it was all matching in case I missed anything. After she left, minutes later Dr. Gauthier enter with his assistant to go over the info one last time. He was very welcoming and took his time making sure all the info was correct and if I had forgotten something and wanted to double check everything. I did remember I had a nerve test to which he then sent the assistant out to get information from that facility. In this time, he performed his testing/evaluation of my issues and then talked about exactly what was going on in his findings and how the procedure was going to work. He assured me that this process would be a bit different and most likely much better than the "caudal injection" to which was excruciating for me in the past. I had such a calm and comforting feeling with the process and really appreciated it. He told me what to take off and would return to take me back for the quick procedure. The assistant came back and escorted me to the room and again, very clean, modern and comforting. The assistant had small talk with me waiting on the Dr to which he quickly returned and picked up right with the assistant. We were laughing and carrying on all while taking pauses and being professional at the same time dialing in the machines. The procedure lasted about 10-15 minutes tops and for me personally, was so much better than any of the other shots or testings I had done. It was closer to a level 3 in pain vs others that reached 9.5! I told him I would happily do another one if it came down to that as that experience overall was very pleasant. I mean its not all comfortable but that is what I did appreciate about them both making it as light and relaxing as possible while filling you in the entire time of what was about to happen, happening and what to do after. I definitely recommend this place if an Epidural Injection is ordered by your Doctor and really appreciate Dr. Gauthier and crew for a lovely experience!

My experience with a shoulder problem. This Tuesday June 2nd, 2020, I got a new treatment from…read moreDr. Lisa Barr. She consulted with me before giving me a shot to begin a rejuvenating process for my problem. One of the things she told me was that this shot was going to hurt because the injection was going to stimulate my inflammation system. I was totally accepting that no pain, no gain, however, I was not really prepared for what followed. The shot was at 11:00 am and by the time evening rolled around, my shoulder was in deep pain. When I laid down that evening, I could hardly bear the pain and had to sleep on my right side all night and not move my arm as much as possible. I awoke several times that first night. By the next morning, my shoulder was so sour I could hardly move; fortunately. When I got to my 9:00 am appointment with Physical Therapist Janet Hare, she assessed my shoulder movements. She decided to give me a brand new therapeutic treatment for a new type of electrical stimulus machine, which she administered for about 45 minutes. She told me that it would help reduce the pain and improve with the injection Lisa Barr had given me the following day. She said she would like to know how the treatment felt in the next hours and days. Janet used body tape to help support my shoulder and wished me a speedy recovery. After a few hours, my shoulder pain began to recede. By that evening, I could drive out and get food for dinner with minimal discomfort but still limited in my range of motion. This review is now June 4th at 11:30 am, almost 48 hours from the 11:00 shot on June 2nd. When I laid down for bed, I was able to experience a reduction of pain from a 9 down to a 2 on the pain scale. I was even able to lie on my left shoulder in bed, which I have not been able to do for weeks or months. (I did not stay there long, but my shoulder was way more stable.) Today I awoke with almost "0" pain at all, and just a small limited range of motion. I recommend anyone suffering from shoulder pain take advantage of the excellent care and treatment available at the Barr Center. The facilities are clean and well maintained. The staff is courteous and always friendly. The best condition of all is the incredible talent and knowledge of the two treatment modalities provided by Dr. Lisa Barr and Physical therapist Janet Hare. Together they have created a wellness center unparalleled in the field or rejuvenating healing. I highly recommend them to anyone who had body aches and pains. They are my favorite go-to place for healing. Grant Narelle June 4, 2020

I can't say enough awesome about Dr. Barr and staff. With a recent change of address and…read morereconfigured practice on her own it's even better. The location is beside Aldi's and across from Bank of America. Surface parking is close to the door. The lot was debris free on my first visit to their new office. The lobby was clean and a short walk to the elevator to take the second floor. The small waiting room is comfortable and does not feel like a traditional doctors office in a good way. I could tell Dr. Barr had her loving hands involved in decorating. Treats and reading material are on the table. The environment was relaxed and calm. The check-in process was immediate with no effort because they knew me and had my name down before I could utter a word. With the change all my paperwork had to be completed again which was the only thing not pleasant. Mailing out the forms in advance could be an option. The wait time to be called back for my appointment with NP Morgan was less than 10 minutes. It was the first time meeting her as she is newer to the practice after the Winter 2018 move. Not surprising that she was hand picked by Dr. Barr and had an incredible bed side manner. We hit it off immediately. I have been a patient of Dr. Barr for almost 10 years and would absolutely recommend her and feel blessed if your insurance accepts. Dr. Barr is what I would call an anomaly in today's world of medicine. What's different, she actually wants to know you, your family and deeply cares about your wellbeing and future. Today's visit felt more like visiting an old friend with their new space and fresh concept to care. If you have a need for a pain management physician I could not be more happy than to insist you call Barr Center.

Dr. Sandra Glasson is by far an amazing doctor. She will go into detail about everything she sees…read morein your X-Rays, what needs to be done, and explain to you any possibilities of finding other problems that could be taken care of during your surgery. She takes the time to listen to you, the patient about how you feel, questions you might have, your limitations, and how much your in pain. A graduate from Duke University and with experience of more than 25 years, you are definitely in good hands !!! Dr Sandra Glasson has worked with various Olympic Sports Teams such as the Women's Field Hockey team, Women's Basketball team, Women's Gold Medal Soccer team, as well as local teams such as various High Schools, Virginia Rush Soccer team, Elizabeth City State University basketball team, and Old Dominion University Wrestling team. After surgery Dr Sandra Glasson will go over and explain your pics of the surgery and show you the before and after pics, and show you any other findings if any that she saw. It is great to actually see what it looked like before and to see the work Dr. Glasson has done. Now the interesting part is that Physical Therapy with Quanita, Caroline, Mac, Jan, Gerald, and Meghan to name a few. Oh yes this great team that pushes you to better yourself and they rotate to bring you that good pain !!!!!! They all take part and work together to build your strength back up to a speedy healthy recovery !!! A great doctor and a great team make for a pleasant and successful visit.

I waited a month to get an appointment and then after arrival I waited over an hour to see the doctor only to find that she could not have been more disinterested in understanding the problem or potential cause. She prescribed cortisone shots even though I made it clear that I had been managing the pain at home for the last 10+ years and wanted to know the root cause and treat that. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and asked again if the cortisone shots would treat the cause, not just the pain, and she said "oh, I don't know, maybe." I was so shocked I didn't even know what to say so I didn't push any further. Beyond that, her team must not have sent over the referral for the cortisone shots because I never received the call to schedule that they told me to expect.
