I waited a month to get an appointment and then after arrival I waited over an hour to see the doctor only to find that she could not have been more disinterested in understanding the problem or potential cause. She prescribed cortisone shots even though I made it clear that I had been managing the pain at home for the last 10+ years and wanted to know the root cause and treat that. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and asked again if the cortisone shots would treat the cause, not just the pain, and she said "oh, I don't know, maybe." I was so shocked I didn't even know what to say so I didn't push any further. Beyond that, her team must not have sent over the referral for the cortisone shots because I never received the call to schedule that they told me to expect.

While waiting alone in the exam room, I overheard a medical assistant make a comment along the lines of, "I don't understand why she's here for an injury that was developed in 2013." Hearing that statement was disappointing and upsetting. What that young lady did not know is my story. What she also failed to realize is that I have been under ongoing medical treatment for this injury since 2013. This is not an issue that simply occurred years ago and disappeared. Over the years, I have dealt with multiple serious foot injuries, including a sesamoid fracture, a navicular fracture, and other complications affecting my right foot. Despite these injuries, I have continued to persevere, walking and working through pain on a daily basis. Since my injury in 2013, I have continued to work full-time despite significant foot and ankle problems. I have pushed through chronic foot and ankle pain, worsening nerve pain, and a condition that has now progressed to bone-on-bone degeneration. In addition, I have ongoing right knee issues that will likely require a knee replacement in the future. The physical demands of working while managing these conditions have been extremely challenging and, at times, debilitating. What was most troubling was the assumption that because my injury occurred years ago, there was no reason for me to seek care. Every patient's journey is different. Medical conditions can evolve, worsen, and require ongoing treatment over many years. Many of us spend years trying to remain productive, support our families, and continue working despite significant pain. As a healthcare worker myself, I take pride in providing compassionate, respectful care to my patients. I have continued to work every day through pain and have only missed work when recovering from back and shoulder surgeries. I am not the stereotype that some people may associate with workers' compensation cases. I am someone who has done everything possible to remain employed and independent despite serious orthopedic conditions. My hope is that this experience serves as a reminder that healthcare professionals should approach every patient with empathy and professionalism. Comments about patients should never be made loudly enough to be overheard, especially when those comments are based on assumptions rather than facts. Patients deserve dignity, respect, and the opportunity to tell their story before being judged. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to Dr. Blake Moore. Other orthopedist have declined to see my workers' compensation case, but Dr. Moore was willing to evaluate me and listen. Its located in Landstown Commons so if your looking for lunch or shopping in the area this is a prime location, plus the farmers market is right across the street. Have you tried calling after 630 pm to reach your loved one? Good luck. What about visiting after 6pm and the door wide open with NO ONE at the desk. Anyone can walk in there at night. Don't believe it? Test my theories for yourself. Sadly it doesn't matter if you complain to the city, their inspectors do the very minimal when it comes to nursing homes. This place needs to close and so does its parent company that manages over 14 nursing homes. It's a money business that's all. To add insult to injury - did you know that they charge Medicare and Medicaid nearly $13,000 a month for this tragedy? Worth it if they were providing the care - not for what they are providing. One night nurse for 20 patients ?? (I'm sure they will deny it now). Our seniors deserve better than this. Princess Anne could care less. My mother was at PA for about 4-5 weeks for rehab after a couple of weeks in the hospital. The…read moreadmissions director "sold" us on how wonderful the facility was which it was under the previous owners. He reminded me of a used car salesman. The physical and occupational therapy department was great! No complaints with any of their staff and one of the Unit Managers who tried to address our concerns. The majority of the nursing staff we encountered were uncaring and unprofessional. The food was horrendous, inconsistent and visually disgusting. I brought my mother food every day because it was that bad. The Huddle House (walking distance from facility) staff were well aware of the bad food because they do a large volume of to-go orders for patients. Mom's medications were not given to her in a timely manner, showers were not given on schedule, mom was told by a staff member they would not be at her beck and call and if she needed help, to call a family member. My sister and I were at the facility daily, several times a day checking on mom, calling out the staff to ensure care was given, etc. I feel terrible for patients who do not have families or loved ones advocating for them. One of the LPN's (who is a retired veteran) was printing off discharge paperwork which was incomplete. He said to me, "this is why I don't like working with civilians." WHO SAYS THIS TO A PATIENT'S FAMILY MEMBER? So unprofessional!!! The facility does not supply tissues, wipes, and similar items which surprised us. Mom's shower had a terrible leak and the water on the floor was a huge fall risk for her. It was never fixed in the 4-5 weeks she was there. The staff just through towels on the wet floor. This demonstrates the facility does not care about patient safety. I don't know how this facility keeps their license and it is no wonder they are understaffed as it is a horrible place. If you care about your loved ones, do not place them at Princess Anne Health and Rehabilitation Center. If I could give them negative stars, I would.

Midway through my weeks of treatment, Maria (a student) arrived and she fit right in and took charge as well! They offer multiple offices in Virginia Beach. This location has poor parking with tight spaces and corridor. My car actually was struck while parked. The front desk staff lady was amazing and compassionate. I saw Dr. Jarrett for the first time. His bedside manner was very good. He took the time to understand what was going on. After a discussion of my pain and location manipulation of neck and back was performed. Treatment plans can last weeks, so I had no illusion that I would get immediate relief. However, it was very helpful. He emailed me exercises and information on chiropractic care. I appreciate the services provided and no longer a chiropractic doubter. The parking entrance is to the right shortly after coming onto the road. The first set of parking you'll pass is the physician parking area. Keep going around to the main entrance. There is signage pointing to the main parking area. There was plenty of parking available, including handicap spots. The most recent visit here was on July 17, 2024. I wasn't the actual patient for these visits, but it was for my mom after having a wrist fracture. They don't have the hand therapy at all locations, so this was the closest one. The visits would occur twice a week for eight weeks. The inside of the place is quite large in the therapy area. It is always clean and well maintained. You could see that they can cover many different types of therapies there. The overall process is pretty straightforward. On the first visit, they go over the insurance information and what the copays, if any, are for each visit. This was also the time to fill out any paperwork and such. For subsequent visits, it was just checking in. The overall therapy process went very well over those weeks. The first part of it was for healing and the other part was for strengthening the wrist. There was a genuine care and concern throughout the process. There were times where they changed it up a bit since it was affecting her shoulder (the one she had a replacement on the year before). If you are in need of therapy, this place is worth checking out if it's close to you. There are several locations throughout the area.
