This review is long overdue but necessary. After moving from California to Florida, I went on a hunt for someone that I could trust to cut my curls. I did my research and decided to make an appointment with Heather. In our consult I showed her exactly what I wanted and she delivered. I'm so happy with my curls, my head doesn't feel weighed down and my curls are bouncy and oh so curly. If you need a curly cut, go see Heather. PS an added bonus is that the salon is soooo cute and stylish. It has a biho vibe and it's just so peaceful. And the espressos are bomb!! read more

I relocated recently and am traveling. in town for the month and was in need of a bleach root touch up and tone. It has been 13 weeks since my last one. I go every 6-7 weeks typically. I had spoken with receptionist who booked me with "new" talent Kathy. She quoted me 70$ for a root touch up and said that it included toner. She Even put me on hold to confirm. She quoted me 40$ for a k18 conditioning treatment which I wanted. She also said if they had to use extra product there may be a small charge but not to let that scare me because it wouldn't be much. The stylist Kathy was great, super friendly , detailed, and worked hard . She engaged 2-3 other stylists through the process for assistance . It took almost 4.5 hours which was really long, but that in itself wasn't a problem. When it was Time to checkout the receptionist hands me a little bag and says we're giving you these products (value 38$ ) because I feel bad that I quoted you a very different amount. I'm thinking ok maybe it's going to be 150 or so. Nope they charged me 373$ (before tip ) !! I am attaching the image of the charges. I was so upset . I did not want to cause a scene. It would have embarrassed all all if I did. I was happy with my hair at the moment and the salon experience up until then had been great but the pricing and lack of communication was unacceptable. they absolutely should have discussed pricing with me before they started. It was absolutely not a color correction. It was a bleach and tone touch up 6 weeks overdue. Previously done by very good colorist who I've been to for years. The receptionist got defensive. The 2 stylists and manager were there at checkout also and it was very awkward. The manager said she gave me a discount that it was actually 70$ an hour for a color correction. But they gave me a deal and didn't charge me the extra 30 mins. Huh !??? Plus 55$ for extra product. I tipped 56$ and just wanted to get out of there. Everyone else had walked away and clearly didn't want to deal with the situation. I tried to explain to the reception why I was so upset but it got nowhere. I Then called from the car to speak to the owner Erin. I told her I was going to dispute with the credit card if we couldn't come to an agreement on a refund. While she claimed to understand why I was upset she brought up many things that were not my problem and had nothing to do with my issue. She kept saying she had to pay Kathy for her time. And that they don't get a lot of bleach and tone clients (huh!?) and that I had grow out. And that prices of everything have gone up and I should have had a discussion with the stylist (again huh!? I had already been quoted price ) and did not think it was required. And that they didn't have a bleach and tone pricing "button" (as note I didn't book on the site I booked over phone with receptionist after clear discussion about what was needed). In the end she agreed to refund me 150$ . so after tip it cost me 290$ for a bleach root touch up (250$ considering the products they gave me ) When I was quoted 110$ . I Had a lengthy convo with my previous stylist who confirmed in no world was it a color correction. I'm not sure exactly whose fault this was but it was not mine . I'm happy with my hair (when I got home and looked in mirror I see orange band at root and few spots that are a little off still but not too terrible- see pic) . For the original quote of 110$ I would have given this 5 stars but the charge ruined the entire experience for me and overall was a very unprofessional decision not to honor the quoted price. As a note I did not adjust the tip ! And feel 56$ was very generous. Because of how it all turned out I would not recommend this salon. I've worked in a customer facing role for years and the original price should have been honored . many of the points the owner made were very unprofessional when we spoke and she should have made things right by honoring the original quoted price. And then worked with her staff to resolve the communication issues, and to make sure if hourly charging is to be done it is very clear to everyone. UPDATE- after a lot of messaging back and forth Erin refunded the entire service to my credit card. While the overall experience was not a good one for me I appreciate that she did what I think was the right thing. It didn't need to escalate to this point and hopefully leads to some communication improvements with customers read more

She is incredibly kind and professional, listening carefully, and bringing your inspiration photos to life. Well I went in for a consultation about a wave perm...never been to this studio before and hadn't looked at web site...so she said she could do it right then and I was anxious so I said ok.......I shouldn't have said ok til I asked the cost...when I went to pay my bill I almost fainted..never paid so much for a hair service....sticker shock...the stylist was nice and knew what she was doing but I wish she had told me how much it was gonna cost me .... Yikes ..and husband appalled but she did what I wanted and the salon is lovely with lots of real potted plants!! Don't be hesitant to ask for prices!! read more

I was called Friday, 5/31 early in day to ask if could come earlier than my appointment and said I could not. Jacara tells me she needs at leat 3 hours to do my hair. She has never seen my hair and had not been here before. She seemed to have an attitude during the convo. So when I get there at 5:40, she tells me after she looked at my hair, says "I need 3 hours to make it look right for full". I tell her to do partial. She days "I can't guarantee how it will liok". So I tell her "so you cant tell me for your service, you can not make what you do, regardless of full or partial, you dont know if it will turn out". She says "that's correct". So then I say let's start with partial". She agains says "I need 3 hours for partial or full". I aked her "so for either, u need 3 hours". She says "yes". So I should have just walked out then because it wa obvious she wanted the $$$. I am 57 and been having my hair for longer than she has been living. So she starts on my hair at 5:46pm. No one else in salon but her and I. I tried talking to her but she refused to talk to me. Most awkward and uncomfortable experience ever! Then before the process was finished the saion lost power. So she went ahead and took folis out. Not a word to me, not even I apologize (not her fault lost power but the way she handled it was so rude and frankly unprofessional). So she puts toner on. Says 10 minutes. Left, came back 18 min later. Not a word to me. Then rinses out. Patted dry with a towel. Then takes me to check out , not even a mirror to look at, charged me 167.00 and cant even blow dry to even know but charges me all that, does not say come back if not satisfied or at least say come back for me to style it which is part of service. This was the worst experience I have ever had and would not recommend anyone to Jacara. This is exactly what happened, no exaggeration whatsoever. I left crying, emotionally shaken up. One should leave a hair salon feeling good after paying money to have ones hair done. I am embarrassed to even mention what happened to me and should have just left when she told that she needed 3 hours period to make my hair look nice, it was obvious it was anout the money for her amd not making a client happy. Worst service ever had!!!! I pray whomever reads this, they understand how she treats one and a new client and not good for this business. read more

Atlantic Hair Studio is top notch. The salon is bright and welcoming. From the minute you walk in you're greeted warmly by the receptionist. The place is small but it's wide open and decorated nicely. It doesn't feel cramped at all. The stylist I had was Erin and I appreciated that she took the time to go over what I wanted, my past color history, etc. She gently set me straight that what I wanted (I had brought a pic of a celebrity hairstyle) wouldn't exactly work for my type of my hair. My hair is extremely unruly and curly and I've been at war with it for ages. The cut and color she gave me was wonderful and she also gave me lots of helpful advice on how to handle my type of hair in this Florida weather. These fine folks squeezed me in for a "trim", but it was clear to me that the stylist didn't see my wild bush as needing just a trim. She spent a good amount of time on my hair and it turned out to be the BEST haircut I've had in years. She is one of the few in my lifetime (I'm 66) who knows how to cut curly hair. Thanks! read more
