Ended up having two hugely opposing experiences with this place…read more I had a small spot weld for a piece of brewing equipment that would have taken 2 minutes to weld. Rather than throw it away, I figured I'd support a local business and keep the part out of the landfill. After calling around to other welding companies, the representative at fields seemed very willing to help. He told me they charge $99 per hour for aluminum welding and I made it clear that I was looking for a weld on an item worth $20.00 to replace but would only take 2-5 minutes max. He assured me they would work with me and that I should bring the item by (a 35 minute drive from where I live). I then drove up north and arrived hopeful. As I walked into the welding shop there are 6 guys sitting around eating pizza and I proceed to say "I called about 40 minutes ago and spoke to a gentleman about fixing this piece of brewing equipment." No reply..... just stares. I then look around waiting for anyone to respond. Finally after that moment of WTF silence some woman in the back replied that the guys were all busy and that she could take down my information. "OK" I proceeded to re-explain what I had discussed on the phone to her in front of the 6 mutes. One guy finally gets up and says: "We charge $99 an hour" Me: "This isn't an expensive or difficult part to repair, so that wouldn't make sense to fix" Me: "Is there any way you guys could take it and pop the one tiny spot weld when someone has a chance" Mute 1: "Not much you can do for $19.95, best I can do is $50" Me: "it's worth $19.95, that just wouldn't make any sense" Mute 1: "sorry" Me: "Glad you guys had me drive 35 minutes up here to tell me useless information, have a great day" Obviously didn't speak to anyone who owns this property. Lesson learned, get the name and information of the person who offers useful information to you before walking into a lack luster business such as Fields.

So I googled "welders near me" and Bogert Welding came up, and they were just a few miles away. I had never heard of them, but I was desperate and so I headed over there. When I arrived he was not in the shop but they called him to see when he would be back. Lucky for me he was already heading back from Kiawah so the wait was brief. Since I didn't have an appointment, I asked if I could leave the camper so that he could work on it as he had time. He said that I didn't have to leave it because he could fix it right there. He pulled out his equipment from his well-equipped truck, quickly got the bumper back into place, and welded it. I then asked if the welds would be weaker than the original bumper, and he said "Not when I'm done". He then went into his truck and pulled out a couple of 1/4 thick steel plates and added them to each side of the bumper, where they met the camper's frame, and welded them into place. I can't imagine that bumper will ever move again. Unlike some craftsmen that I have used in the past, they were extremely friendly, clearly competent, and their price was far more reasonable than I expected. So reasonable, in fact, I gave him a 40% tip for the excellent and friendly service. I highly recommend Bogert Welding.
