Great little coffee shop on in Atlantic beach. I've gotten a few things visiting here. A cold brew and chai latte are my favorite. My friends have gotten their cinnamon bun. I get there a few minutes after opening and three people are there along with me. One is waiting for the drink to are in line waiting to order and then there's me. Quite slow since there's one worker there and when I get up to the counter to order loose tea, they don't have any teabags so 10 minutes away waiting. I decide to leave since I can only buy loose tea in an ounce type of measurement, kinda hard to have tea when you got no teabags just tea. read more

I was excited to try the cinnamon roll but it may have been a day old or was a bit stale & mainly bread...I prefer gooey rolls so maybe that's why I didn't really like it. I put it in the microwave for 30 seconds since they had a microwave by the straws, but it was still not very good--disappointing since I saw some good reviews on here! The au lait coffee was good but was super hot so it took a while to cool. Long line with one barista but we weren't in a rush so we didn't mind the wait. Adorable artistic and eclectic coffee shop with everything that you need and things that you didn't even know you needed really great selection of to go snacks and hydration powders as well as Clif bars and the most adorable swag tie-dye t-shirts with the octopi logo. I prefer independent coffee shops as opposed to the chains. I happened upon this one by chance while headed to another. I had a caramel frappe and a cream cheese danish. The danish was delicious, fresh and very flaky. The frappe was ok. It didn't have much caramel taste at all. Cinnamon rolls were huge and looked very tasty. I can attest to the fact they are made in house daily as I caught some video of it while waiting for my order. May have to grab those next time. read more

The service was outstanding. They do get busy as most coffee shops do and the staff handles it with care and precision. We had a Cinnamon bun. Warmed in the microwave for 60 seconds was perfect. The icing wasn't overwhelming with sugar and had a delightful balance with the cinnamon swirled inside. The dough wasn't traditional to what I'm used to and was a pleasant surprise of flavor and medium softness warmed to perfection. OMG- this place is my coffee crush in NC! Visiting the area while racing and MUST always stop here and indulge in their DELICIOUS coffee and cinnamon rolls. Being out-of-towners, we called ahead to make sure they were open AND still had their monster cinnamon rolls. Bethany answer the phone as well as serving us when we got there. Her customer Service is awesome and you can tell she really enjoys her job. Bethany made sure to let me know if they had cinnamon rolls in the oven and we're coming out shortly, we were not disappointed!! We stayed and caught up with a local friend we served with overseas. The four of us sat in the rear of the coffee shop, there is a sofa and four sitting chairs, as well as a coffee table. There is local art on the walls, an outside patio, inside seating, merch, and music. A MUST VISIT!! read more

AB Coffee has the best espresso drinks I have ever had! It has a nice local vibe and a variety of seating inside. However, the service is hit or miss. This morning when I went, I was barely spoken to by the barista and she seemed a bit bothered by my questions. I would think she was just having a bad day, but I have had this experience multiple times. On the flip side, I have also gone and been helped by very friendly baristas. Either way, the coffee will be great! This morning, I also tried the cream cheese danish for the first time. It was not a traditional danish in that the filling was more of an icing than cream cheese. It was pretty good though, just not traditional. I still love AB coffee, just disappointed with this experience. read more

I was SUPER excited to try this little coffee spot everyone seemed to rave about, unfortunately I was highly disappointed. The young girl working the counter seemed to be annoyed with us the moment we walked through the door. Coffee was made wrong and not good at all. I would recommend saving your time and money and making free coffee at your hotel. read more

Disappointed by my experience to say the least-- the service, coffee, atmosphere, and food was subpar. Shop could really use some updates, boxes of stuff everywhere. No cinnamon rolls!! We settled for a banana nut muffin & danish, both tasted store bought:( One of the baristas even took multiple smoke breaks right outside the entrance. So unprofessional! Would definitely recommend driving the 10 minutes into Morehead City to find a better spot! read more

I have to admit - I wasn't overly impressed despite all the high reviews. I will say staff were exceedingly friendly and nice to us but the quality of the coffee and cinnamon bun were just not there. The large, fresh-baked cinnamon buns looked good and my husband has a severe sweet tooth so he ordered one for us to try and microwaved it himself. It was super dry and didn't have enough cinnamon or icing. Kind'a too doughy for our taste. We did a cafe au lait as well and I didn't enjoy the flavor of the coffee at all - we drank less than half. We have been going to this little coffee shop in the Food Lion and Bojangles shopping Center for about 3 summers. The young lady and young man that have been there for the past two years are really nice. The shop is always clean when we go in, even when it is busy. The iced mocha is fantastic. My best half likes the iced coffee with cream and Splenda. The cinnamon rolls are huge! Not just huge but huge huge! They are also delicious warmed up for about 15-20 seconds in the microwave. They are about twice the size of Cinnabon. The muffins are really good, particularly the chocolate chocolate muffin. We haven't had the teas. read more

Came on a Friday morning and have to agree with some of the other reviews questioning how highly this place is rated. Ordered the cinnamon bun, which was the star for us. Good size, tasty breakfast pastry would eat it again for sure. After that though went down hill, the cold brew coffee was close to flavorless and seemed very watered down. Boo. We are clearly not in the majority on this but there we did not have a great trip to Atlantic Beach Coffee. The cinnamon hard bread roll with some goop on top was TERRIBLE. No way can you call that a a cinnamon roll. It was hard as a rock, chewier than a pretzel and made from more like a dinner roll dough than a fluffy brioche. Gross. I specifically called in advance to ask if they could grind some beans for aeropress (notch between french press and espresso so very fine). Reminded them on site that's what we needed. SAW that they grinded it for automatic drip (much coarser - about 3/4 of the dial coarse rather than nearly the finest) commented, "I had asked for just a touch coarser than espresso and I see you've got the dial on automatic drop" and they claimed they did it the right way, gaslighting me by telling me that's how their grinder displays the setting...uh, no. Opened the bag this morning - totally wrong! Coarse city. Brewed it this morning: bland, total mess. Clearly they didn't care enough to do it right. Drinks ordered to go took 40 minutes. They need a second person brewing. My kids enjoyed their muffins and hot chocolate. My coffee (actually made with the espresso grind I had asked for!) was fine on site or I would give it a 1 star. Find a better coffee shop. This one is slow, the cinnamon roll is terrible and they don't care enough to grind the coffee the way you ask. read more

We were staying nearby on vacation and a good coffee shop is a must, regardless if we're home or away. I'm happy to include Atlantic Beach Coffee in my list of must returns. If it wasn't for Idalia swinging through and making everything a flooded mess, we'd have visited every day of our trip. The coffee selection was great, the steampunk kraken vibes were enticing, and the baristas were churning out orders like a well oiled machine. We'll be back next year! read more

Atlantic Beach Coffee is an awesome spot to grab some coffee from a local biz while you are at Atlantic Beach. The chains reigns supreme over here so it was nice to see an alternative. I saw their coffee, tea, and sweets sign on the side of the road and wanted to check them out. Then a woman staying at the same hotel mentioned them so I knew I had to look them up! They have a ton of different flavor mix in's if you are in to that type of thing (I am). They also have some delicious chai! I had to order one of those gigantic cinnamon buns just for the novelty of the thing. They are HUGE! They really need to get some bigger take out containers though because I got icing all over myself while holding it. Although the cinnamon bun looks super impressive, I didn't love it. It's weird to say but I thought there was too much cinnamon in the filling and not enough sugar to balance it so it made it a touch bitter. I mean overall it was still tasty, just not my favorite. When you are in Atlantic Beach skip the chains and head on in here for some tasty coffee and treats! read more

Came here based on yelp review of coffee and the cinnamon bun. The cinnamon bun was good - it was big and very filling. The reason for my 3 star review is this. Hubby said the coffee was just mid - not that great. The main reason was customer service. Our order was taken by one person who then immediately walked away. (Another employee was responsible for the coffee). No one ever got our bagel and cinnamon roll - we had to wait until other orders were completed then ask for our food. When we did ask the employee was rude. Didn't utter a word to us. I kind of expected a - "sorry about that" or "have a nice day" or "here you go" but she literally said nothing. Final thought about the cinnamon roll - they did tell us it was good when heated, but they don't heat it for you. There is a microwave on a counter next to sugar and cream for coffee. So I had to microwave my own roll??? This is super weird. So......will I come back? Probably not. Sorry! Too much they can improve upon. read more

I'm not sure why people like this place. Our drinks were frappes, but they were mostly just frozen slush with very little flavor and it was $22 for two medium frappes and a hot coffee. We did not get food as there was not much in the case, and we were watching as a staff. Member was pulling out frozen muffins and preparing them on the same counter where everyone was ordering and picking up their drinks. It did not seem very sanitary. read more

Generally clean, nice local atmosphere, friendly staff. I went for the tea and had the Secret Garden green tea. I thought it was quite good. They had a good selection of tea, in general and it's within walking distance of the Double Tree Hotel so I'm sure I'll go again while I'm here. read more
