It's definitely a big, busy airport lots of hustle and bustle and LOTS of people but overall, I found it pretty easy to navigate. The train station is farrr. One thing I liked was that there were plenty of food options and food courts throughout the airport. That's definitely a plus! Of course, the food was ridiculously overpriced, but hey, that's airport food for you. They could fix those prices if they wanted to but I digress. The bathrooms I used were pretty clean, which is always important. The one thing I did notice was that some of the gate areas seemed really small. Maybe it's just the way they're set up, but with so many people waiting to board, they definitely felt cramped. Overall, though, getting in, getting around, and getting out was pretty easy. For such a large and busy airport, I didn't have any major issues navigating O'Hare.

Pricing is of course, not of this world and expect a lot of things will be out or take forever. 20 minutes for a basic iced coffee at Caffee Mercato at Noon on a Wednesday? Yepper. I guess it could have been worse. It could have been an International flight which would equaled a commute of miles, insane tight connections that could have only been done via Star Trek transporting or I could have left from a different origin hub which might have bypassed the need for a connection but..... We were on tarmac at one time departing to leave for like 1hr...and the recent time..we had to wait 1/2hr for "city of Chicago" to fix the broken gate bridge!! Whooooooo's coming from "city of Chicago" to fix the gate bridge?! Insane. TSA has somewhat gotten better.kudos to that. International Customs suck here. They are very strict! They had me go through customs for my chicken sandwich from Germany which the idiot customs officer thought it was pork. Didn't even ask me what it was but made me go through customs! What jerks. They will charge you fines for pork and fruits so empty your luggage before you get to customs. Dirty bathrooms. United Lounges are crowded all the time and closed.

If a major airline starts service here, this airport can be very successful. This could relieve traffic at O'Hare and Midway. Many of those in northwest Indiana could benefit as well. The perpetual road construction projects and traffic on I-90 and I-94 out to O'Hare has cause many travelers to miss their flights. It's close proximity to the South Shore Railroad makes access to this airport very easy to get to. Once their master plan is complete, I would hope service from the major carriers start up. Boeing parks their corporate jets here at GYY.

It does help that there are many signs along the way. We picked up an Uber on a cold March night. Thankfully, my husband and I were able to wait inside for our ride to arrive. 'A' IS FOR AIRSTRIP…read more This adorable airport does an admirable job of attracting young aviators. Clow International Airport was one of the biggest 'X'-factors I considered when moving to the area back in 2020, but not for the reasons you might think. I love planes, and my hope was that one day I'd have kids who would also be fascinated by aviation. Wouldn't you know it, our 4yo thinks planes are the coolest and I'm sure our 1yo someday will, too. On Google Maps, this place is listed as Chicago Bolingbrook International Airport, which is both stupid and wrong. Guess I have to summon my verified Google Reviewer ninja skills and fix that discrepancy. Oliver Clow (the airport's founder) would be mortified to see his own name dropped from this beloved airport! #justice4clow The noise pollution isn't bad at all, especially when compared to the deafening jumbo jets flying over towns like Franklin Park and Des Plaines on their approach to O'Hare Int'l. The air traffic coming through Clow is mostly private pilots, students, and light commuter aircraft (no 747's). Their on-site restaurant - Charlie's - is named after Chuck Yeager and serves the most reasonably-priced breakfast around. When the weather's nice, scores of planes takeoff and land on a given day, so if you're lucky enough to get a window seat, you'll be treated to an airshow with your meal. Clow hosts the annual Cavalcade of Planes, an event that attracts a huge crowd and features the opportunity to go up in a variety of different aircraft for an upcharge. We've gone every year and while we usually pay for admission, there's space north by the Meijer parking lot where you can watch in a lawnchair (and BYOB) for no charge. * TL;DR * This general aviation facility in the western suburbs gets an A+ from me and the kids. You can learn about planes from history in the free aviation museum, take flying lessons, or enjoy a cheap meal at Charlie's. I've seen everything from small Cessnas and WW2 fighter planes to helicopters, with a few gliders and ultralights mixed in here. The runway is only a couple blocks from our house, which is awesome. Clow is like a friendly neighbor everyone wishes they had. My family and I adore everything about this airstrip. Ten stars!

A few nice FBO's. 3 runways, the longest is 5,001. Tower is open from 6am-10pm weekdays and opens at 7am on the weekends.
