Most of the equipment is in good condition and from what I understand they offer certain fitness and bootcamp classes. The protein smoothies are good and they also offer single shots of preworkout if you forget to bring your own. Smaller facility but they are conveniently located on the border of Ventnor and AC, close to shopping and a nail salon. Open 24/7, so if you work nights or weekends, you can always get your workout in.

I filled out a request/application to be contacted (provided on the website) and to be honest, my expectations of actually receiving a call or email where not very high. Well, what do you know, the owner herself reached out to me through HER OWN CELL PHONE! She was welcoming and asked about me!!! What I usually get when I reach out to a business is a full verbal display about what they have to offer; in this case, the owner asked about me, my needs, my goals. She HEARD me and asked me questions!! Wow! My jaw was wide opened and I knew right there I could expect nothing but professionalism and dedication. I was kindly invited to a complementary class to check out the gym. I showed up at the place and I was impressed with how intimate and inviting the atmosphere was so I could bring out the best of me. I was greeted by a trainer and while I was waiting for the class to start, the owner made herself availability to meet me at her facility...how about that! The class was perfect for me, and all I can say is if you need a place that can motivate you to become the best version of you, you have to check it out, the owner made it clear that she cares not only in words but also in actions.

I have to be honest and can't let my nostalgia cloud an honest review. ------------------------------------------------------ Good: This is your typical gym. If you're a meathead good! Nice old school Iron plates, full squat rack, free weight benchs, gallon of water, string tanks, bags on the floor, neon lights, murals, grunting allowed, a cardio room, and two class rooms. Joe, the manager is a no nonsense guy. You screw with him or the front desk girls and he'll kick your ass out. Nice guy, just don't be a jerkoff. Memberships prices are cheap, $9 a month if you use your card and sign for a year. Nicest of the three main gyms around -54 fitness/Shapes-to-come- *Planet Fitness isn't a real gym, not included* ------------------------------------------------------ Bad: Used to be 24/hr,,,don't need to explain that benefit. They used to hire clear, english speaking staff that were friendly and engaged the customers. After the change, it was difficult to catch what they would say, if they would even talk to you at all. The cardio room was actually a Pool! It was very nice but they filled in with concrete making it a huge cardio room. This sucked because the pool was the only indoor one around. (Shapes-to-come pool is disgusting) The mirrors would be broken or cracked from weight dropping and duct taped. Neve replaced until months after. Locker room floor was never cleaned, I got athletes foot and ring worm from the guys bench. Lockers are beat up, some don't even lock or the bottoms look like someone punched them. Speed bag and heavy bag would be ripped down or broken weekly. Equipment would have worn seats or pads, which took a few months to get replaced. -All of this and it took years for the membership price to drop, and only after Planet Fitness opened up. ------------------------------------------------------ Take it as you will, this gym used to be amazing. It changed my life for the better, but it seems like the place is taking a turn for the worse. I only go now for the 4 way neck machine once a week... Maybe.

At the risk of crowding up our classes :), this place is terrific. Wonderful instructors who are creative with the workouts, fully engaged with the participants and work us all really hard but in a great way. They really know their stuff. Customer service is friendly, low-key and responsive. And loads of parking and a place for coffee nearby. I'm only sorry that I'm not around more regularly to take advantage of additional classes and events, which sound fun.
