Best experience ever! Tore my Achilles, and thanks to Jarek and Kaylin, I was able to avoid…read moresurgery. Their patience and thorough attention to my injury and feedback was impressive. Sherri, at the front desk, was always helpful and on top of appointments and coordinating with my work Comp. After several months of therapy, the staff at the Bourbonnais office became almost family. I'm out of therapy now..thank you! But I will miss this team!

Life wasn't meant to be easy, but neither is recovery. Since two thousand and thirteen, I have felt…read morethe most unbearable pain that no one should ever have to feel. I was diagnosed with CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome) in my left arm and hand. My pain doesn't even register on a pain scale and medication does not seem to help. The pain was spreading into my right arm as well. In two thousand and fifteen I was diagnosed with a frozen shoulder and myofascial in my upper back from holding my arms tightly up from burning stabbing pain. I struggled through every day-to-day life in excruciating pain. I could not function as a normal human being and felt like there was no end in sight. I saw multiple different physical therapists who didn't know how to help me. I was discharged from physical therapy and told I needed surgery to my left shoulder before physical therapy can be done. The insurance doctor insisted I find a physical therapist who knows how to treat CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome) and release my frozen shoulder without surgery. I finally found Jarek Matejewski now at Ivy Rehab. No one else could help me, however, he did. The pain in my arms that caused my frozen shoulder was still there but within a few weeks Jarek had my shoulder moving again. While I still have limited range of motion, working with him has given me the ability to have a little bit of my life back. His method is simple: change direction. Jarek constantly evaluates me and stays up with up-to-date advancements and the best practices in the field. He collaborates with his peer's realist goals and encourages me. Due to the horrific pain causing my muscles to be rigid and tight, he constantly has to release my muscles and work on my tendons in order for me to be able do exercises. Feeling like my arms are constantly in a swarm of fire ants and burning, Jarek has helped me begin to have mobility back into my arms. Never will it be the same, however, he has helped me feel like I'm not a lost cause. He gives me hope and a better quality of life. He continues to encourage me. When all others had no answers other than you'll just have to learn to live with it, he did not give up. In two thousand and sixteen, I fell on a broken door seal. Because I'm unable to use my arms because of the pain, I couldn't catch myself to prevent the fall. I ended up having to call 911 and an ambulance had to take me to the emergency room. Just this one fall caused a labrum tear, synovial joint injury and bulging discs in my lumbar. He is dedicated to my continued recovery. He has since helped me stand, sit and walk for a while without any trouble. I still suffer with severe burning pain in my upper body. Without my continued therapy with Jarek Matejewski at Ivy Rehab, I don't know where I would be at today. I know that I will never be what I once was, however, being able to feel like there is a way to manage CRPS gives me what I need right now. HOPE. So thank you. Thank you for not giving up on me. Thank you for believing in me. While most people run away from physical therapy as it might be viewed as tedious work, I actually run towards it. Physical therapy with Jarek has helped me with my everyday way of life. Seeing him three times a week has kept me alive with a better quality of life. With his different therapy methods, I continue to improve every day even though I will never be what I once was. Physical therapy has not only helped with mobility, it has happened with my emotional state as well. Before I began seeing Jarek, I was in a constant state of depression. I did not know what my future was going to be like. I thought I would be condemned to no mobility at all. I actually smile now. I laugh and look forward to what the day will bring. I'm not saying that I'm not in constant pain. I am learning to increase my mobility and manage my pain as well. If I could do physical therapy more than three days a week I would. I'll never be what I was, however, at least I know that my future is more promising with continuing to work with Jarek Matejewski at Ivy Rehab.
