Whitney, at the front desk, is the heart of the operation. She knows everything and will try her best to get you in. HOWEVER, there are not enough appointments here and it can be tough to get a slot. The billing system seems like a mess. Early on, I paid by cash a few times (big mistake) and it took weeks to iron out what I owed. Then, later, I was randomly charged $100 I didn't owe. These are great folks, but they need a new billing system. Okay, money stuff done. Jen Duffie is an exceptional physical therapist. She helped me in my very worst moments; when I was dealing with excruciating pain. She's encouraging and non-judgmental. I've also been treated by Ashley Crain, as well at PTAS Jenny and Emily. All of them were great as well! This is where I would recommend any friends or family members go.

I underwent a major rotator cuff surgery in late November, 2025. To be honest, based on…read moreeverything I heard about the surgery and the rehab which followed, I started the process with serious concern. I can say, without any reservation whatsoever, my PT at SSM Health Physical Therapy in Downtown Kirkwood has made the entire process nothing short of a COMPLETE SUCCESS. Kim Henze, my Physical Therapist, just might be the very best medical professional I have ever worked with. Folks, I turn 70 later this year, so this is definitely not my first rodeo! What makes Kim Henze so special? Lots of reasons! Here are just a few: 1) Kim knows her stuff! Extremely sharp! She never failed to impress me about her knowledge and expertise in the physical therapy field. Whenever I expressed a concern , she knew exactly how to address the issue, and carefully explained the recommended process to resolve the issue. 2) Trust me, this is a good thing....Kim is a perfectionist. She understands physical therapy requires a real commitment from the patient. It is not easy. Kim made it clear that when doing the various therapy exercises, keeping the correct "form" is critical. I love that. I don't want to waste my time doing things incorrectly. That doesn't happen with Kim Henze. She works very hard to make sure we, as patients, understand the importance of doing exercises correctly. I never felt pressured or criticized. Rather, I honestly felt Kim cared about my recovery. That isn't always the case when working with a professional in any field....yes, even in health care. Her consistency amazed me. At every single appointment, I felt Kim was 100% dedicated to my progress and full recovery. 3) Kim set very clear expectations. I felt her exceptional communication was key for me to achieving consistent progress and results. Again, the mood was never uncomfortable or degrading. To the contrary......Kim's approach to my therapy got me excited to succeed. I found Kim Henze to be extremely knowledgeable, committed and enthusiastic during every session. Last, but not least....she is one heckuva nice person. I'm not sure I could ever say physical therapy was fun, especially coming off rotator cuff surgery. Nonetheless, Kim always seemed to find a way to make the entire process a positive experience. I'm proud of the work we have done, and understand there is more work for me to do. I was truly blessed to cross paths with Kim Henze at SSM Health Physical Therapy in Downtown Kirkwood. If a need ever arises in the future, I have only one Physical Therapist I would want to join me on that journey....Kim Henze, PT. -Bob B. / Kirkwood
