The main issue I've had is unsanitary behavior.in the men's locker room. Despite all the signs about washing before getting in the hot tub or cold plunge and wearing proper swim attire, guys (particularly under 25 yo crowd) will routinely use the sauna or steam room, and then hop right in the hot tub or cold plunge with nothing but underwear. Even worse, they throw their underwear in the swim suit water extractor. The locker rooms often smell like sewage. I've even been swimming laps only to see a bunch of high school or early college aged males jumping in the pool with only underwear... there were little kids at the pool! I spoke up that time, and they actually were surprised saying they had done it multiple times. Staff has been informed but does not enforce. The response I've received is, "it's above my pay grade." Upper level management and female staff seem to care more about this, but nothing has been done that actually fixes the issue. Apart from this it would be a 4/5 rating overall.

I had a membership here for a while when I lived downtown. While the gym itself is on the smaller…read moreside, the pool is a very nice size for laps and is kept at a good temperature for lap swimming (it really is the Goldilocks just-right, where I find most pools either way too hot or too cold). I always loved standing underneath the waterfall and having the weight of the water get a little shiatsu massage my shoulders and head, and the massage jets in the hot tub also do a number on aching muscles (although all the jets are positioned in exactly the same spot so it's hard to massage anything other than your exact mid) back. The locker rooms are lovely as well (it's an especially nice touch to have a swimsuit dryer so you don't have to carry a drippy suit back to your room or house), and it's always nice to treat yourself to a sauna after your workout. It doesn't take long for the sauna to heat up, and I recommend turning it on before you swim so that it's hot and ready afterwards. The pipes in the shower area could use a major overhaul though. It sounds like a massive road construction project is going on right above your head when you're in the shower. Also, there is zero suds factor on the shampoo in the dispensers and even after rewashing several times and using tons of pumps of the stuff my hair didn't feel clean afterwards. I was staying at the hotel this week for a conference -- when I went back to the pool on day three In brought my own shampoo with me.

In case your are wondering it is at Planet Fitness, and specifically this one in Kalamazoo. I find the staff to be friendly and helpful, most times if they are not busy will chat with you for a sec. I have not found it to be dirty or out of supplies (towels etc), and seldom does a broken machine stay that way for more than few days. They do have rules about keeping the floor clear. For example no gym bags next to your machine, or over large water containers. I had a guest last year that liked to bring a bag with him from machine to machine, a staff member politely explained the rule and asked him to place it in a locker, handled nicely. No treats just a calm request with no threats. I have been impressed with this place so far.

I generally didn't enjoy the workout, struggled with scheduling/signing up issues and so joined other type of workout studios. But my husband remained a loyal member and he was happy that there were two OTs open in the hometown I grew up in. I decided to give it another shot since it was not easy finding options for Pilates reformer classes or Lagree style workouts. I have to say that I'm grateful that my first time back in awhile was at this location. First, parking is abundant. I did most of the forms online so all I had to do was get a refresher when I arrived. The studio is very clean and spacious. Staff was amazing and super helpful. Our instructor was also encouraging and very clear with instructions. Orangetheory made huge improvements from when I first went like the heart rate monitor can now be worn on the arm instead of on your chest. But my favorite improvement was that the floor workouts are shown on a monitor because I have a horrible memory and always forget what I am supposed to do. So I look forward to returning when I am back visiting and also may try giving it another shot here at home.

I asked to perform the buyout option to cancel my membership and I was fine with paying the remaining balance, but I still was forced and required to go back and forth through various emails and calls that stated that I needed to provide actions that I already provided, to initiate the cancellation. I was told to send an email with my name, account number, and stating I was canceling via buyout option yet received 3 emails stating that they were sorry but I was only eligible to cancel via the buyout option!?!??!?! They are stuck in a loop which seems 100% intent on forcing the consumer to experience the most frustration and agony imaginable to hopefully give up on pursuing the cancelation request. I've dealt with many service provider before that perform these shady tactics and ABC Financial is atrocious at providing support and an intuitive experience for their customers as a part of the vendor of PowerHouse. I strongly recommend not getting tied up with a service provider that is leveraging ABC Financial as a vendor if you need to have a smooth, normal experience at managing your account and services.
