I would ideally give this place 4.7 but since I can't do that, am erring in their favor…read more It's in a fantastic, super walkable neighborhood of Buenos Aires. We tried several cafes, ice cream shops, and restaurants because things are so close by. We were also able to use the bus and subway easily from here. The rooms are very quiet, large, and very clean. Since it's a boutique hotel, even when it's full, it does not feel crowded or busy. The staff are all really friendly and helpful! The desk staff, the restaurant staff, and the housekeeping staff were all wonderful. The breakfast they include is so good, you can skip lunch if you take advantage of it. They give you toast, a media luna (a small, slightly sweet croissant), yogurt, orange juice, and coffee to start! You can add one of a few other choices- omelette, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, and a few other choices. They will also make you an espresso drink, which is very good! In fact, if Antonalia is working, she makes the cutest animals on the lattes or cappuccinos. We also decided to eat dinner here one night and the food was excellent! We didn't try it but the wine collection is awesome. Highly, highly recommend this place! Note: We were here for over two weeks so we used a laundry shop around the corner to get our clothes washed instead of using the hotel's service, just so it wouldn't be so expensive. This was a great option for us because we dropped off in the morning and could pick up before 6 pm.

However if you want to find a decent, safe, affordable and local hotel in the heart of Palermo, look no further. The staff is great and very friendly, with a focus on customer service. A classic Argentine breakfast is included with your room, and they offer room service, laundry, and other services, much like any larger hotel. The location is central to Palermo and is close to lots of businesses and parks. It is easy to catch a taxi if you want, but most everything is within walking distance. Lots of great restaurants in the local area and is in a safe neighborhood for walking, even late at night. There are various room layouts available from very small rooms for really only one person, to larger suites for couples or families. They offer spa service and other amenities, though I have never had time to investigate them further. Keep in mind this is a local hotel that is typical of the smaller lifestyles of South Americans, and not the luxury suite at some swanky American hotel, so don't be surprised at the smaller rooms. However the prices are much cheaper than the typical american hotel brand, and you really get a feel for the city and people from this hotel. Will definitely continue to stay here during our trips to Buenos Aires!

That's common in many hotels in South America but if you get on the internet late at night when everyone is sleeping is works a little faster. Score! CONS *I named breakfast "The Bread Buffet" because it's literally only bread. Nothing cooked to order, no fruit, no eggs, no breakfast meats, etc. Only sweet pastries. *Weird room layout. It's the most awkward use of space for a room EVER. Make sure that you and your roomie are comfortable with each other because you can see in the bathroom from the bed space! Scandalous! *No gym. Not a big deal for some but I always look for it so keep this in mind. *Construction and a rooster. Yes, I said rooster. In the morning from many of the rooms you can hear him telling the city it's time to wake up. Cocka-doodle-doo!!! Not okay. Also, the entire time I was there the hotel was under construction so I'd wake up to jack hammers and pounding on the walls. Hopefully they will be finished with that sooner rather than later. Having traveled globally for over 20 years, I would call this a four-star hotel at best. The pros…read moreinclude the location and the lobby/pool/restaurant spaces. It's in a tourist-friendly part of town, easily walkable to restaurants and local attractions, and it has quite a lovely main entry, bar, and pool patio. But the hotel itself has major drawbacks both in service and room quality. I experienced a laissez-faire delay in my check-in (with my keys lying visible on one person's desk but no updates given to anyone else on staff, despite my repeated inquiries), which was not particularly appreciated after a long-haul journey, and the layout of my room was narrow and unpleasant. The bathroom was not a separate walled-off space but instead a glass cubicle within the main room, just feet from the bed and tight on space. Inside the bath cubicle, to achieve privacy it was necessary to close the door on the glass wall and then draw velvet curtains from both left and right. In using the shower, it was not possible to utilize the drying mat provided or reach a towel easily, as the glass door to the shower opened out toward the sink, hitting the mat and making it impossible to reach the towel hook. Drainage at the shower was also a little iffy. The toilet area involved yet another glass door, again making privacy an issue and further truncating the space, with all three glass doors opening in toward the sink. It was quite difficult to use the facilities at night without waking a partner in the room (since turning on a light in the glass-wall cubicle was not viable). The room itself had a bit of Old World charm -- a bit outdated in style and tired from wear but attractive overall despite missing basics such as larger nightstands, a clock, etc. While there are surely beautiful suites to be had at the Faena, the standard room falls short and, unfortunately, feels a bit substandard instead.
