Last Sunday I had my first cooking lesson at Ateliers et saveurs and I was totally charmed by the experience. As a complete newbie, I had a little apprehension about how that was going to go: I've always felt stymied by my lack of "culinary education" and I never knew where to start when I was trying to learn by myself... So imagine how out of place I felt at first, among a group of cooking enthusiasts, in the middle of a beautiful kitchen full of quality equipment... Well, the feeling of being out of place quickly disappeared thanks to Chef Iman and his unique ability to pass on his love and knowledge of cooking ! Chef Iman explained every task and every culinary term so that everybody could understand (even the level 0 newbies like me), he made everyone participate and we all had a fantastic time. This 3 hours class seemed to pass so quickly! Regarding the price, I found it totally reasonable since you have a very complete 3 hours lesson AND a free meal. I will definitely come back!

Our group had a fantastic time at Ateliers!! We were about 30 American spending a few days in Montreal and decided to book a double activity night for the group. We were split in half and while one group had a wine tasting and lesson with bites to eat with Arnaud, the other group was helping Imam prepare a ton of delicious tapas! The wine tasting was really much like a lesson on wine! How to recognize a light wine, how to determine the age, the content of sugar and alcohol. It was really fascinating. Arnaud was a great teacher and extremely knowledgeable. We had 2 tasting and and bits such as cheese puff pastry palmiers, a cheese board with amazing bread and a bread and fish croquette on top of a crunchy salad. We learned so much in our hour! Even the wine aficionados of the group learned something and left the table happy and interested. The cooking class was an awesome adventure and Imam was amazing!! The 2 groups did different things, one did a lot of chopping and preparing and the other a lot of cooking and putting everything together. Makes sense! He was excellent and really patient dealing with all of us. He was on top of everything, and that was a lot!! Mamadou was healing in the kitchen and he was super sweet and efficient with cleaning up all the mess we made. We had the last hour of our adventure dedicated to eating everything we made and some of what chef Imam had prepared in advance for us. We got to enjoy: - seared foie gras with grilled figs, speculos crumbs and coulis: that was one of my favorite!! - grilled sesame tuna on top of a pea purée - gratin dauphinois with shredded duck: delicious! - salmon tartare: amazing. - cheese and steak skewers - banana bread with berry coulis - my favorite, and I had 3 portions.... Was a layered dessert with crumbs, a mascarpone like yogurt and topped with a mango coulis. That was amazing. We had a great experience. The food was delicious, the team very professional, and we created very fun memories! Thanks for having us!

A very fun and affordable activity since you get a free meal with it! When we came to Montreal, we didn't really have plans but this was one of the things that showed up for things to do! So glad it did because it was so much fun! We did the 30 min lunch cooking class and we made chicken risotto and it was so good. WARNING: the whole thing was taught in French! Although the instructor translates some of it in English, it was basically 90% taught in French. That was the fun part, tho! The chef translated it enough so you would know the steps. I also asked him questions in English so that's no problem. Each of you are given a task so for example, some were put in charge to chop onions, shred the chicken, actually cook the dish. Only two people can actually cook so FYI- you might not be up there on the stove but it's still fun! Really a great experience! We loved it and recommend it to anyone visiting or even for locals.

This place is fun! For my Easter vacation to Montréal I was looking for something else other than Mont-Royal and Notre Dame, and I saw some suggestions to take cooking classes so I found here. You may choose different type of cooking classes related to entrees, desserts or wine pairing. I took two class one is cooking steak and one is chocolate. At first I worries about language because All public classes are taught in French stated on the website in English. However the people here are nice. They will try a lot of effort to explain in English, only problem is you will miss out a lot of French humor. They will explain how dishes are cooked and have everybody responsible for one step instead of everybody follows the instructor step-by-step. Since they are very experienced they give useful hints to improve your cooking skill. The environment is clean, tidy and organized. Every employees here are professional, even the assistant responsible for cleaning and organized maintain their hygiene and professionalism that shows they put a lot of effort of detail. I come from the San Francisco Bay Area so I think their price is cheap. Each class is $65-75 Canadian dollar vs $80-100 in San Jose, CA or even $130+ in San Francisco what I heard. So language is not a concern in this school, only if you are thinking of wine pairing... I would definitely come back to Montréal for vacation for this place.

The concept of cooking something together and then sharing after works great for team building. The setup is top notch, kitchen is what any culinary enthusiast would want for their home - except for their knives. They were quite dull, and to me this was a safety hazard. One star off for this. We made two scallop dishes and two duck dishes, had fun eating and comparing them side by side after. Good stuff.

Omg!!! Had the best time there with my boyfriend!! We had the lunch class for beef tartare! It was delicious! We loved the format of the class. Very easy going and fun. The chef was super nice and made sure to answer all the questions. You can order wine while you prep the food. We meet great people that otherwise we would not have. If you are in doubt, dont be! Just go!!

She's very generous and I felt I was a family member. Plus she served us a great wine. Thanks Yelp (got my place trough Yelp) for this super experience. His process, space, demeanor, and care was top tier. The bagels were some of the best at the end too. He makes sure to take care of you and give you a great experience and an even better bagel.
