When we paid the bill and refused to pay the service charge for the above reasons, the staff forced a 10% service charge without our consent. This is forced consumption!!! We should have turned to the local law enforcement authorities, but doing so would have ruined our entire trip -- and that is exactly why they acted so blatantly.
