The breakfast is at extra charge and quite expensive. Though recommendable. In about 15-30 minutes (depending on the traffic) you can reach the center of Geneve. Stay away! After…read moreprepaying for my "guaranteed for late arrival" room", I arrived at about 9:30 PM to find the place closed and dark. It took me a while to find it because even the outdoor sign was off or missing. It turns out the front desk was located in the lobby of an apartment building - I was able to get in only because a resident let me in. Once in, I found the sign on the front desk which gave a phone number for anyone arriving late. It was difficult/expensive for me to call the number without local phone service, but I did. The first time I called, the rep said "someone will be right there" and put me on hold. After 10 minutes of being on hold and no one showing up, I hung up and redialed. This time they said that I needed to open a safe located near the front desk for my key, and gave me the safe's code. I tried that code at least 10 times, very carefully, but it did not work. I called back and they insisted this was the right number and told me to try again. I tried again but still no luck. I called back and now they would not answer the phone. I called many times, no luck. Another guest arrived and had the same problem. He had also been given a (different) code that did not work. He was also unable to get his key. We both tried calling the hotel customer service many times but they did not answer. I called the company I made the reservation through (Orbitz) and they put me on hold for 15 minutes while they "checked with the hotel". After 15 minutes (and probably $15+) of waiting on hold, the call was disconnected. I called back and explained the situation and said I just wanted a refund. They said unfortunatey they could not provide that without the hotel's approval, and said they would have to call the hotel. I explained how the hotel was no longer picking up the phone and they prmised they would not leave me on hold, but again, I was placed on a 15 minute hold and disconnected. I never did get through to the hotel, nor did I get a refund. Worst hotel experience I've ever had. Save yourself a lot of hassle and go to a hotel that cares about its guests.

A ticket machine accept a credit card. If you don't have a time to buy a ticket, a machine is also inside a bus. After arriving at the airport around 11pm, I was exhausted. Check in was smooth and a staff mentioned that a hotel restaurant is open until 1:30am, which was nice as I didn't think we can get access to food until next morning. Fairly new hotel it seems, inside was very clean. We were there for about 7 hours and didn't want anything fancy. This was a perfect overnight hotel.

This is likely a result of the clientèle they regularly serve. The United Nations offices, Red Cross and WHO are very close by, so there are large numbers of dignitaries staying in the hotel on a regular basis. This also means a very secure environment that caters to people of varying nationalities. The TV channel selection, for example, reflects this. Be sure to visit the hallway with photos of some of the well-known people who've stayed at the hotel, which was first opened in 1964. We certainly had one of the lower end rooms, facing west toward some local housing (and a co-op) vs. overlooking Lake Geneva in the distance. Incidentally, the co-op has some decent ready-to-eat food selections... so if you don't want a sit-down meal, it might be a good place to visit. Other than the hotel restaurant, there are only a few good places to eat within easy walking distance of the hotel. Our room was spacious by European standards, and there was beautiful lighting, extra seating, and desk space. A room safe and minibar are part of the package. The king bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed, with an expansive deep bathtub and wonderful large bath towels. The toiletries were a rather exclusive brand and had a great unisex scent. We only had breakfast in the restaurant, but it, too, was outstanding. Both buffet and menu selections were available. Servers were competent and sincerely nice. We especially enjoyed our interactions with Sarah. The hostess was wonderful as well. This hotel had many amenities that we didn't use, like a pool and sauna. Be sure to look these up ahead of time so you bring what you need.
