The club has recently been redecorated and the floors are not as sticky as they once were. The club is situated over various levels with a several bars and a couple of dance floors. Due to the fact it is spread out so much it can be very easy to lose your friends. The bouncers are quite strict and patrol the club looking for drunk people who they throw out. If you arrive early entry is free at the weekends although it is often very quiet there at this time. Drinks promotions mean it is a reasonably cheap night out if you stick to the offers. The music appears to have become more dance focussed since it was reopened but they have different music on every night.

The "real deal" night club in Southampton. I wouldn't use the phrase "the best" because it's so so…read moresubjective to just classify it as such. But this is definitely the most impressive. The venue is made up out of quite a few large rooms, dance floors, bar areas, and smoking terraces. The place is simply huge. After a few drinks you'd best be prepared for inevitably losing track of where all of your friends are, because if someone gets lost it's a miracle if they manage to rejoin the group. My experience of this place is pretty clouded to be honest. The drinks were so cheap on the Wednesday night I just totally lost track. I remember falling off of a bar stool. Drinking more. Losing everyone in my group. Drinking more. Doing The Worm (or trying to). Drinking more. And that's when my memory blanks out and I wake up the next morning feeling like death warmed up. What more can you possibly want from a night club?! Cheap drinks, great venue, huge array of rooms, plenty of smoking terraces, the list goes on. Of course, the club is defined by the night. Which is why I won't call it "the best"... but at the very least, it's great.

If you remember Ikon this place is Just Ikon Diva with a face lift!…read more Ikon is now the Ice House and Diva is now New York Disco. Where hotshots used to be is the bar quarter and this is proabably the nicest part. The bar quarter is a few bars seperated by walls but each one has a different vibe, some with large sofas and beds to lay on. The main part of bar quarter is a big bar surrounded by booths which you can hire for a birthday celebration but i have heard they are not cheap. The main Oceana area is much the same just with a few doors moved and a paint job to alter the layout. Unfortunatly it is the same kind of people going there who went when it was Ikon Diva and this can cause a bad atmosphere and the door staff seem obliviously to this. They can also be quite rude. Drinks are expensive with my firend paying £6 for a double vodka red bull! I personally give this place a miss unless it is a friends birthday and they want to go.

Their tone was aggressive, intimidating, and completely unprofessional. They then banned me from the club for no valid reason. As a young female I felt intimidated and I had to walk away and wait for my transport somewhere else as the insults wouldn't stop and they kept calling me a horrible friend, a disgusting person etc... It was around 3am and i should've felt safe waiting next to the venue however it was the exact opposite. The incel security team seems to be on a power trip, making excuses to harass women instead of acting professionally, not to mention my friend got home okay and he is disgusted with how they treated me.

Avoid at all costs…read more I wish to complain, in the strongest possible terms, about the shockingly rude and disgraceful customer service I recently had the misfortune of enduring on a night out at The Edge. I'll set the scene; I was with a group of friends celebrating a birthday, where the birthday girl understandably wanted to visit you as a fixture of the gay scene in Southampton. We agreed - the Edge has an excellent reputation. However, the treatment I and several other members of the birthday party we endured is, frankly, completely unacceptable. The door staff you employ, or contract, are disgustingly rude. Unaware that a picture ID system was in place (I've not been to a club since Covid), I was unaware that I needed to bring a form of photo ID with me. Fair enough - I was happy to show the woman at the door a copy of my credit card and my Facebook profile picture as proof that I am who I say I am. However, the manner and way in which she proceeded to extremely patronisingly demand "well why don't you have any photo ID", visibly sighing and rather dismissively inferring that I was stupid for not knowing this. Rather than politely saying "oh that's ok, we can use Facebook and a credit card" or words to that effect, she essentially demanding that I needed photo ID and that " as your [The Edge's] photo-ID systems had been installed for four years" and that I should "get with the times". As if my mere presence insulted her and that I, single-handedly, was making her job ten times harder than it needed be. Then visibly annoyed while waiting for me to sign in to Facebook and provide evidence of my ID, she snatched my credit card away from me and presented it to the man at the responsible for entering ID systems, saying that I should apologise to her for holding the queue up. By this point I had decided that if this was representative of the "service" at your establishment that I was not comfortable patronising your bar, and that I wanted to leave. I then requested my credit card back from the man at the door, at which point I overheard her say words to the effect of "are you being serious? That's a f***ing waste of time". As if patrons, your valued customers, are little more than cattle to be herded, with no regard for either my safety, or the feelings of your clients. Extreme words, perhaps, but that's honestly the feeling I got from her. The door staff member in question is what I would describe as an older lady, with peroxide blonde or very light brown hair, working in a black T-shirt that says "security". Because I just wanted to get out of there I didn't get her name, unfortunately, but she was working around 11:30 pm on Saturday 12th September. While I understand that being door staff is hardly rocket science, I nevertheless expect a certain level of professionalism and modicum of both decency and respect as a possible customer at your bar - she is 'security', but I hardly felt 'secure' with her. My entire experience, and in particular the abysmal and deeply offensive level of service provided by the member of staff in question is, frankly, disgusting, and completely unacceptable. This whole unfortunate experience has completely ruined a perfectly good night out, and I am still, over an hour later, visibly shaken (and, indeed, shaking). If this is standard of customer "service" I can expect from The Edge, it paints what I am sorry to say is a level of service far below that which can be reasonably expected from one of Southampton's premiere LGBT+ clubs. What a disgusting end to a great night out.

After the huge anticipation the club built up surrounding its opening and the novelty of a brand new super club in the city, the club has become a bit samey and stale. With a £5-£7 price tag (depending on what night you go) before you even step through the door, you are already down by a drink or two before you start. And with typical Cardiff club prices greeting you at the bar, you are often in for an expensive night. While Oceana can be a great night out that offers many diverse rooms for your clubbing pleasure (including a disco, karaoke and boudoir room), like anything, the novelty can begin to wear off if you attend on a regular basis. But for sheer popularity, Oceana stands tall as one of the most prominent clubs in the city. It regularly fills up on a Friday or Saturday night, with a host of DJ's gracing the stage, and is the club of choice for many on a bank holiday weekend. With Tiger Tiger just a short walk down the street, Oceana has some stiff competition right on its doorstep. But with its regular weekend and student nights consistently bringing in hundreds of customers, it can't be argued that Oceana is still one of the most successful clubs in Cardiff.
