Adding to the noise, local hoons use the road out the front as part of a racing circuit of a night continuously driving at speed with very loud exhausts. The windows are not sealed well and I can hear wind and noise coming through them. The last time I stay here. The Crown Plaza will get my business going forward.

There were three of us, one queen size bed and one single. The bathroom was ensuite, so one person had to walk through the bedroom of the other two during the night, but I imagine for most this wouldn't be a problem. Small issues: the free WiFi is so slow as to be useless, don't expect to rely on it, the driveway is very narrow, and the parking area compact, so youprobably want to be good at reversing. Bring a HDMI lead and you may be able to hook your laptop to the tv - we only had a usb stick and the usb port was for diagnostic/repair use only, no video functionality. Overall, I recommend it, I'd stay there again.

The rooms are geared up in tech for lights, heating, and curtains. Nice that you don't have to get out of bed to turn anything off. Shower was hot with rain and hand held spouts. Thick fluffy towels. Lotion, dental kits, ... they had anything you might need. Beds were comfy. Loved the down pillows and comforter. Slept well. We used the valet parking which allows you to take your car any number of times during the days. We never waited long. Staff was outstanding. So helpful and welcoming. Great upscale experience.

There…read moreare several tiers of rooms, and I ended up in a larger one than I wanted, mainly because it was booked out well in advance. It's a decent size building, but quite popular. They have plenty of bathrooms, and despite Tasmania being chilly the heat and the blankets did the job fine. They're very low on security, but I think the selling point of the place is that they've tried to set up a culture. The owners are very present and took the time to shake my hand on entering, and one gets the sense that this is a place meant for adults who want to be there (whereas you can find some sketchy, fringe-y characters floating around Australia and New Zealand's various hostels). The worst that could be said of it is that people were noisy the last night I was there, but when you pay for cheap accommodation, that's a risk you take. I was happy to take the money I saved and put it towards other things.

Enjoy all the details and the atmosphere of this lovely place. Very good equipped kitchen, great dorms with best beds I ever had in a hostel (and I stayed in loads of hostels). Really unique and superb located just a 3 minutes walk to Salamanca market including a free car park. Montacute is one of the best 3 hostels I every stayed. :-)

It was only midweek and our guide told us that this place was always packed. There was lots of local energy here, of which we should have stayed longer and soaked it all in. The food and drink was a set menu, but in an Irish Pub, that meant that a burger, chicken parma, or fish and chips were always on the menu. The beer choices were on the light side, in which I should have insisted on a Guinness or a Kilkenny, instead of the local lager. It was all good, both in terms of taste, quantity, and good craic.
