Rating for Katherine Sirianni PA ONLY. She is wonderful. I've been her patient for over a decade. She is knowledgeable and provides good and thorough care. The back office staff seems to do a fine job. I haven't had any issues with billing or anything for many years. But I do show up on time and cancel with plenty of notice if I need to. The front office staff, however, has rarely been any good over the time I've been going there. I can't figure out why they keep one of the women, who seems to be unpleasant every single day. But all she does is check me in, and I'm not going to downgrade the actual medical care I receive from Mrs. Sirianni because of the office personnel. So, a 5 for PA Sirianni! read more

I have been going to this practice since 2006. The new staff is very rude. I went there last Monday for my migraine and prescribed with Nurtec. However, still waiting for the authorization. Call them every day, today is Thursday, call them twice today and they still working on it. What they have to do just to sign the paperwork and submit to my insurance. I don't think it will taking them 3-4 days for signature. I missed their previous staffs and doctors. This practice is going down the hill. I absolutely do not recommend this practice. I am currently looking for another physician elsewhere but meanwhile I just need to suck it up until I find a new one. read more

I am still a patient of PA Sirianni, but the last two times I have needed appointments she was unavailable so I was seen by Dr. Akinlade. I am not a fan of Dr. Akinlade at all. First visit with Dr. Akinlade, I came in knowing I needed annual blood work. She gave me what I thought was a physical and sent me to the lab. However, a week later Associates in Family Practice (AIFP) started calling me daily to set up a physical and to go over the lab work. With their patient portal I can see my lab results and NOTHING in them seemed unusual or outside of norms. I also couldn't figure out why I needed another physical since Dr. Akinlade had just given me one. AIFP told me that it wasn't a physical and thus I needed to come back in. I don't have the ability to just take endless amounts of time off so I said if there is a problem with the blood work to just call me and tell me. They refused. I noticed yesterday - that the results from that lab visit are now missing out of my online patient portal. Second visit with Dr. Akinlade, I caught a problem as it was starting. I know my body pretty well and was concerned if not treated right away may develop into a complication for my chronic condition. I felt like she didn't hear me. I have not heard back from the office about any of the tests they did. And again those labs are not in my online patient portal. I really dislike Dr. Akinlade's bedside manner. I am also starting to feel like AIFP just wants to nickel and dime me to keep coming back. I like PA Sirianni, the nurses and the front desk staff a lot and the office is always clean... but if I have to continue to see Dr. Akinlade when I need help, I would rather take my chances with Patient First or Metro Immediate Care. read more

I had been a patient here for many years. In the past year, I received bills of $130+ and $140+. Where as in previous years, I had only payed a copay of $20-$40 (not counting lab fees). Upon investigation, they had been scheduling me for only follow up visits with no yearly physical for the past 7 years! Insurance would have paid for a yearly physical (no copay) and certainly not charged it towards deductible. The office offered only a $30 reduction in the current bill. IMO, it was their appointment/coding error which provided me with lack of proper care and mis-charging. An attentive doctor should have seen that I had not had a physical. An ethical office should have reimbursed and dropped at least the current charges. read more

They literally forget and miss my appointments! They waste my time by making me come on separate days for blood work and doctor appointments. They have no concept of customer service. Mostly, they do an annual battery of 20 blood tests. When 1 test is slightly unusual, they panic and send me to a specialist, who reruns the test and finds nothing abnormal. I became acquainted with Associates in Family Practice when I first moved to Maryland and a former college professor told me his son (who was in grade school at the time) is now a physician with a practice close-by; talk about feeling old! A few months later, I got miserably sick and needed to see a doctor right away; but because I was new in town, I hadn't yet found new medical professionals. I remembered what my old professor said, so I called Associates in Family Practice on the morning when my head was spinning, I had a sky-rocketing fever, my throat was in pain, etc. I told them it was an emergency and I needed to see someone that morning. I was able to get in right away and saw Katherine Sirianni who immediately diagnosed my illness, wrote prescriptions, and sent me on my way. Within days I was better and for the next few weeks she followed up to make sure I was recovering properly. And although she is not an MD, she's a physician's assistant (PA), the care I've received from her equals (if not better) than any of my former MDs. I have now been a patient at this practice for nearly two years. Katherine has been a very attentive and thorough primary care medical provider who has paid close watch on my health since the beginning. She not only reviews my medical history, but anticipates possible health changes moving forward and advises me on the best options for staying as fit and healthy as I possibly can. The only reason I'm not giving Associates in Family Practice five stars is because their front office staff needs quite a bit of customer service training. Every time I've gone to the office, no matter who the person is who greets me, I always feel as if I'm doing THEM a favor by going there. As I said, it is only the front office staff -- the scheduling, billing, and clinical staff have all been wonderful. read more

Dr. Johnson has been my Dr. for 25+years, medicine is practice not an exact science. He has taken care of our FAMILY, birth to Death and everything in between. If he isn't sure , he researches until he is OR he will send you to a specialist to be sure YOU receive the best care he can provide. He truly worries about his patients and desires to ensure they get the best care possible. The other physicians and Nurses in the practice followed his leadership. I can go to anyone in the practice and know they will communicate with Dr. J as needed . Sometimes that can mean during the visit, sometimes they just leave the notes for him to see next visit . The worst thing about retiring is having to Move and the most Frightening is thinking about loosing my DRs. They know me so well- and ALL my Issues . read more

I've been a patient here for about 2 years. I had one doctor, who is no longer here and I absolutely LOVED her. She was easy to talk to about anything and I could ask her anything I wanted and she answered honestly and it felt like she genuinely cared for my health and well-being. When she left, I was assigned to the PA, Katherine Sirianni. She was very nice and knowledgable. However, I've had two bad experiences with her, and asked to switch to a new doctor as a result. I was sick last December (2014), with what seemed like a cold, and I saw her and she prescribed fluids and bed rest. She told me to call her if I got worse. Two days later, I developed a fever and body aches, and called asking to come back in because I believed I had the flu. A nurse answered and Katherine told her to tell me that I didn't have the flu and to just rest. I had the fever for 3 more days and just felt that she didn't take my concern seriously. I'm also a teacher, so I figured I had the flu since my students had also been recently sick. The next month, January 2015, I called again because I was having pains to what I thought was related to my cycle. I called asking to come in and told the nurse it felt like "PMS on steroids." I was cramping, had gastro-intestinal distress, and was having backaches. I was experiencing these issues for 2 weeks before I called. When the nurse told Katherine, Katherine told the nurse to tell me to take some ibuprofen and rest, as she cannot do anything for PMS. So I called a week later and asked to come in and see a different doctor, as my symptoms had not gone away, and said that Katherine didn't take me seriously. I was then assigned to Dr. Akinlade, who diagnosed me with the stomach flu, and said that it had been messing with my cycle. So obviously, I was annoyed with Katherine for blowing me off, and I actually had a significant illness. Dr. Akinlade has been better with me, however she was not willing to listen to my concerns with birth control, as I was recently considering not using synthetic hormones to treat some issues I was having. She basically blew off my concerns with synthetic hormones, asking me if I "wanted" to get pregnant. I told her no, but that I wanted to explore other options. She didn't offer me any and said I needed to continue using synthetic hormones. I am actually in the process of now looking for a new doctor and will not be using Associates in Family Practice anymore. read more

I tried two doctors at this particular site, since the location was very convenient and has a lab onsite. However, my last experience with Dr. Akinlade was the final step to me looking for another family care practice. She showed up one hour late for my appointment with no apologies whatsoever, she has a habit of planting doubts and fears when going over tests result. I feel a sense of dread after meeting with her. Therefore, I will look elsewhere for a doctor who is positive and respects their patient(s) time and health. read more

I have been a patient for a little over a year with Dr. Mallik. I was seen in the hospital and needed a follow up. About 30 mins before my appt, I got a call that the dr needed to reschedule. So I did so for a week later. Next appt comes around, same situation. I asked, what is going on and was told he had an emergency. I was a little frustrated, but said ok we can reschedule. So next appt comes up, this time i decided to call and confirm before leaving the house. Guess what the dr wasnt going to be in today. I was never told he wasn't there and i would have showed up for no reason. I received no courtesy call or explanation. My wife has to take me to my appts and had to take time off work each of these days. My wife called the office and was furious at the lack of respect we have been treated with. I missed an appt in May and was charged $50. My wife insisted we should be refunded for our missed appt since the dr had a no show 3 of our visits. The staff was extremely unhelpful and had no concern for our time wasted and the charges we had to pay. They told me we could schedule with Dr. Johnson, I did not want to. My wife spoke to Dr. Johnson while I was in the hospital (he was the dr on call) and he was only concerned about my vaccination status and not the reason for the call. So after requesting our refund, they told me that all they could do was take off the charges for our "missed appt". Sorry, am I confused, you are planning on charging me for aissed appt when the dr wasn't even in the office. They handled this situation with extreme disrespect and no concern for their patients. My wife stated on the phone that I will no longer be a patient with this practice. I received a letter today, stating that they have discharged me as a patient and I could request my records with a fee. No apology for all the inconvenience this has caused. I now have to find a new practice and start all over bc the staff has no concern for their patients. read more

Dr. Salvia is great, the front office staff is the worst. I went to this practice about 8 times in two years. Several times when I would get a script, I would discover that they never called it in to the pharmacy. Several of those times, the pharmacist tried to call the doctor who had left for the day and I had to wait till the next day for them to finally call it in. More than 50% of the time, I sat waiting for more than an hour in the exam room. Every time, I would ask how much my out of pocket would be for things like: x-ray, bloodwork, as I had a HDHP. Their quote was ALWAYS significantly understated. Always surprised up to 6 months later with the SuperBill! I have had to endure multiple requests for blood in one sitting due to mislabeling of vials, and had to endure multiple pricks with phlebotomists exhausting my veins to collect blood. I have discovered a $30 "after hours" charge being tacked on for M-F appointments starting at 8-8:30am. Their office officially opens at 8am. I contacted other doctors offices and asked them if they open at 8am and charge extra to be seen between 8-8:30. ALL said "no". The culmination of these incidences prompted me to write a poor review on Google. The office manager responded by requesting I contact her to discuss my issue. The practice then became even more obviously dodgy: AIFP said my insurance makes them charge the "after hours" charge. My insurance countered this by saying they do not. My insurance set up an appointment for 3-way call to sort out the situation and the office manager flaked out on the call. We tried several times with the number the manager gave, as well as calling the front office, and the call was never taken. Afterwards I went through other bills to discover tacked on extras (from recollection) like emergency visit charges. I have never had emergency visits. They were always scheduled. I have happily moved onto a much better practice. But it doesn't end: It is May of 2020, and I JUST received a bill from Aug of 2019. Decided it was time to write my Yelp review... All I can say is: check the charges on your bill and question them on things that look odd and double check with your insurance if they point to your insurance as the reason, expect to spend extra time for your visit, don't leave the office till they call the pharmacist, and write down how much they quote you for a procedure and compare it to the bill you get several months down the line. read more

I have been a patient for about 15 years and I have to be honest, if I felt there were a better practice I would change. I have learned though that most practices are there to make money and not care for the patient and in addition, treat the patient as though they are a 2 year old. Once again over the last week I was given conflicting information and after finally getting everything straightened out I had to deal with a rude desk person when I went to pick up some forms. Maybe if your coworkers could get their act together we wouldn't have to ask questions in the first place. A word of praise though. The nurse I had on my last visit was the nicest, most professional person I have had the pleasure to work with. She treated me with respect and made me feel extremely comfortable. I give two stars due to the fact that Dr. Akinlade was very nice and caring. The rest of the practice is awful. I called to follow up on test results. I waited three weeks for the results of an ultrasound. When I called, the nurse was very quick to tell me I just needed to come in and that I should have received a call. I shared that I had not received a call and have been waiting to which she stated, "well, you should have, but you are saying you did not, so...".(quite inappropriate). Keep in mind this test was due to abnormal cysts so as a patient I was already uneasy. I asked if I could please leave a message for the doctor to which she responded, "I can write a message but I can't ensure she will call back." I attempted to share my situation 3 times, but instead of listening she continued to tell me to make an appointment. (Dr. Akinlade told me to come back after following up with a specialist... I was waiting to make that appointment until I had the test results). I shared with her that I just needed to ask a question about the result/test to make my specialist appointment to which she angrily stated again that I needed to come in. For one, be kind to patients. Two, we don't all have money to spend on co-pays that a simple phone call could help. I ended telling her never mind and I am now looking for a new primary care physician. Dont bother. read more

I like the doctors and the staff. Very friendly. However, for the second time in a row, they keep sending my prescriptions to the wrong pharmacy. That was never a problem in the past. I have contacted them twice about the problem, and so far, they have not contacted me back to confirm the error. Again, I never had any problems before, so I think there may be some staff issues going on. I hope they correct the issue soon. read more

Dr. Akinlade has been my doctor for about two years now. I have been to the office about 5 times since I switched doctors and I have never been seen on time. I have never waited LESS than 30 minutes AFTER the start time of my appointment. I am currently sitting in the waiting room. I know what is wrong with my leg. I just need a referral for a physical therapist... something that should not take over an hour out of my day. read more

I've been a patient for over 25 years, and got treated terribly and unfairly. I would search for another physician, especially if you're in the DMV or looking to move here. You're surrounded by new doctors that have been trained by the best, and looking to build their patient book. I've been going to them for the past 6 years. Once my original Dr. left and I was transferred to Dr. Oluremi R. Akinlade, things went downhill fast. She is not very attentive and seems to have an issue listening and taking in what you are saying. When you ask me the same question 5 times during a visit and refuse to write down my answer, I start to think that maybe you are incompetent for the task. Especially when I suggest/ask if it's in my profile in the computer and you say yes. At that point, I'm confused. Then you claim to have an interest in women's health, but my one visit for that was more than enough. I'm starting to wonder If she really did graduate. Her manner is terrible. I will not be going back to her and is currently in the process of looking for someone new. My previous Dr. before her was great and the office lost a really wonderful Dr. who knew what she was doing. read more
