Go back 7 years ago or so and I arranged for an auto loan through Wells Fargo with a private seller on Car Soup. Went to the WF location in Eden Prairie to finalize the deal. What should have been a half hour (tops) deal ended up being a three hour ordeal. They could not get in contact with the regional office or corporate office or wherever in order to finalize the transaction. While we are waiting and waiting, the Wells Fargo lackey there pulls me aside and solicits me for a personal line of credit. Told him no, not interested. Thought that would be the end of that. Week later or so get a letter from Wells Fargo saying thank you for opening your personal line of credit. WTF? That shady mofo. This was many years before they got completely busted on this bullshit business practice. I knew back then I wanted nothing to do with them anymore. Unfortunately, I had my mortgage with them. Ugh. Transfered all my money to my local credit union, but kept a shell checking account for many years. Finally got rid of the mortgage and decided to be done with them. Went in to the local branch to cash in some coins and close it all out. Get to the front of the line and told they don't have the change counting machines anymore. Are you f'ing kidding me? This is 2017 and you are going backwards. Instead, they make you count and roll your own change before they will give you cash. The gal that I closed out my account with was friendly enough, but insisted on counting and rolling the coins for me. I was like if it is going to be more than five minutes, no. She persisted, and I relented and Wells Fargo wasted another half hour of my life. So glad to be done with them. Bank small and local! Peace!

Due to en extended bought with Covid (I am immune compromised) had stopped by this US Bank for assistance: I am receiving MN Benefits due to my health crisis (thru US Bank) - I had traveled to this location to only be told "your not a US Bank customer - we deal only in the plastic." Was the response I received when I had requested "US Bank" to deposit the PAYROLL check into the card. Then , once again it was made VERY CLEAR I was not a US BANK customer. Then I requested to cash the check. Two separate responses - 1st $7 Fee (followed again with the not being a customer rhetoric. When I agreed to pay the $7 "Service Charge" I was told "we do not cash .... you are not an US Bank customer". This from te manager. Well guess what Karen, MS US Bank manager - the federal government seems to believe I am a US Bank customer. He had Wells banking and we were able to open an account for no fees through Wells so we went with it. We visited on Saturday 11/30 ready to open our account and deposit money and were greeted by Maria immediately. We were told it would be a bit of a wait and to take a seat. We watched Maria greet every branch visitor and direct them to the most appropriate solution for their needs. She told some to take a seat, others to see the teller and taught others how to complete tasks within their Wells mobile app so next time they can save themselves a trip. Now THAT'S service. We did wait a while but we didn't have anywhere to be and didn't mind. There was a coffee station available for patrons which I watch Maria restock at one point. We learned that Maria is Puerto Rican and is fluent in spanish and I noticed that the patrons of this location was a very diverse group. She made everyone feel welcome as she genuinely asked about their day in one language or another. Our account was opened without a hitch. Once opened, we went to the teller who had a few questions about our deposit (seeing that checks were made out 5 different ways with 3 different names -- my husband's, mine as it is today and as it will be once I change it). Once a co-worker answered her questions she scanned all the checks and then double checked they all read correctly for the deposit. When we left, we realized we had been at the branch waiting, working with a banker and then with a teller for almost two hours but everyone was so friendly and helpful that we didn't mind. We wanted this account opened that day and done correctly and we were confident that the staff at this branch handled it flawlessly. Very happy (new) customer.
