We were welcomed immediately and introduced to many people right away, and they made me a coffee. The music was contemporary style and upbeat/thoughtful. The pastor was lively and entertaining, I wanted to know more about the sermon and the story after it was done! We showed up on a day when they happened to be having a newcomers lunch, and we decided to get out of our comfort zone and join. I'm glad we did! They have a lot of compassion for the less-fortunate, and even serve free hot meals on Mondays. The really show they care. Not just a hot meal, but they offer a small food bank, free bread, and even a clothing bank! I love their bands they use! What blew me away was how awesome their teen band was! They are very, very impressive and they sing great too! They rotate different Pastors so you don't get the same one every week. I like that sometimes. But all of them are great! And funny sometimes! This church gets packed, so you might want to show up early if you want to be assured a parking spot or a seat. The cool thing is that if you are here for the first time, like maybe to check it out, they have visitor parking for first-timers! The only thing I used to think (and joke about) was it seemed they had "spies" who kept watch on the visitor spots so they could be sure to welcome them at the door! Nope, I was wrong... they do this to EVERYONE! You WILL feel welcomed and loved at Rainier View! They also have a lot of small groups, like a men's group, women's group, youth group, recovery group and even a singles group! Something for everyone! Not a lot more I can say about Rainier View except that you WILL love this church! By the way, they sing contemporary praise songs NOT out of hymnals, and NO speaking in tongues here (a concern of mine and I don't like hearing) so I really feel comfortable here! They offer free coffee and cookies in the foyer, but for those who desire more, they even have an espresso bar right there in the lobby! Oh my gosh! Back in 2006 I was diagnosed with a very major illness requiring me to stop working and have surgery within a month! It was an ER doctor who faxed a stop work order to my employer! Well, needless to say, I suddenly had no income and had no way to pay my upcoming rent nor my phone and power bills. I was forced to contact LOVE Inc, who called me saying they found a church who was going to pay 2 months of my power bill PLUS one month of my rent. But when they told me it was Rainier View, I almost started crying. This was my church, but they didn't know me because I've always been one of those quiet ones who tend to sit alone in the back row. I personally went in as soon as I was back on my feet after recovering from my surgery and thanked them and introduced myself as the person they helped. It was so nice of them, and I felt a need to thank them. The Lord certainly made sure there was a church big enough to fit all those who want to worship Him, then He blessed them all with very warm and loving hearts. God Bless you, RVCC! Here is their website so you can check them out yourself! http://www.rainierview.org/index.html

I am proud and grateful to be part of this growing family. Not all of us worship or experience our faith in exactly the same way, but we accept and respect one another. I have never belonged to a parish that I could truly call home until now. When I began my journey into the Orthodox Christian life, Father Ramos and Deacon Steven taught me about the history and traditions of Orthodoxy. They have been patient, welcoming, and eager to help make this journey meaningful. One of the beautiful things I have learned is that Orthodoxy does not go door to door looking for you--you find Orthodoxy. No one forces you to come, and no one pressures you to stay. The doors are open, and you are welcomed. You return because something in your heart calls you back, and, if Christ guides you, you continue the journey willingly. And it truly is a journey. You attend classes. You learn about Jesus Christ, His Apostles, and the history of the Church. Over time, you begin asking yourself: Is this what I believe? Is this the faith I profess? You attend Vespers and Divine Liturgy. You pray. You listen. You experience the life of the Church and ask yourself: Do I feel the presence of God here? Then, when you are ready, you are baptized and received into the Church. You become one with your parish family, receive Holy Communion, and experience the love of the holy, immortal, and living God. And somewhere along that journey, you simply know: You are home. truly home.

I decided I wanted to show people who don't go to New Life how great it is! (; I think I started coming to NLC around end of summer-ish. I grew up going to church in Tacoma basically my whole life which means I have heard of NLC but always went somewhere else. I thought I would see a lot of familiar faces (this is after I got back from my 1.2 years in California). Not really... surprisingly. Wow it has been almost half a year already and I am so thankful for all the people I have met here. I know it was God who placed me at NLC after I felt alone and abandoned(; I grew closer to Christ with the help of my lovely friends at church! I was so happy to see how bright everyone was shining from their love for God. I really like the pastor's sermons too! I grew up listening to sermons.. that went through one ear out the other. But here, every Sunday I whip out my phone and take some meaningful notes. Later throughout that week or month, I scroll through and I think, "oh wow! That's perfect timing to read this message again". To whomever sees this from New Life Church, I just want to thank you all for making me feel welcome and at home(;

We weren't totally sure where to go in, as the main sanctuary is being remodeled, so the church is meeting in a second building (thru like ealy December 2016). Members didn't really offer to help us find where to go, until we asked people and told several that it was our first time. After that, two different gentlemen introduced themselves and made sure we felt welcomed. Service was on missions and had very perky music. The pianists did a very fancy swap, while still playing, at the beginning of the service. Speaker was not the main pastor, but was a very interesting missionary. It is clear this congregation hopes to spread the word of God throughout the world. The congregation dresses very formal, so note this and plan accordingly (we were under dressed in dark jeans). Many members refer to each other as "Brother" or "Sister," in line with some Baptist traditions. It is also a fairly Conservative church, with some political references. All in all, if you're a Baptist and looking for a church home, this place might be a good one to check out. Just remember to dress up!

What was clear to me, is their objective and understanding of what comes first is, the congregation, Catholic dogma, and spirituality. I'd like to share my first mass experience. My sisters, who are deeply religious and devout had come to visit and wanted to attend Sunday mass at the nearby town which I discouraged. We went instead to St Andrew. As soon as we parked our cars, we noticed that there was an uplifting atmosphere of joy. The children were laughing and talking about saints, breakfast at home after mass, and the priest, whom they loved. It was a pleasure to see this type of interaction and love for their church. When we entered, my niece slid next to me and observed the mass with a sense of jubilation and curiosity that I had never seen before in her. And, before the mass ended, I noticed her eyes filled with tears as they flowed over and down her cheeks. It was the first time I had ever seen anyone so filled with a reference to a mass and God. Would I recommend this church to anyone? YES!! YES! YES! Also may I add, CHILDREN should come first always. A church fails its congregation when they demand that children be left at home so they can have quiet at mass. Please remember in "Matthew 19:14: Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
