Armed with my mental list of things to do, I made my way to ARB Time Watch Center with ironically no time to spare. The shop, conveniently located at the ground floor of Market Market was manned by a certain fellow named Eugene. His fingers, steady and solid, capable of winding and twisting showed no traces of incompetence, quite expected for a man who has been keeping the business ticking for the last 10 years. It took Eugene less than 5 minutes to replace the batteries and it was so far, the easiest errand of the day. And because I had some time to spare, I walked a little slower and breathed a little deeper hoping that my next task would be as easy as the one that had just passed.

When it comes to watches, I don't trust ordinary service centers. I make sure that I bring my…read moretimepieces to their respective authorized repair hubs. Sure, the servicing costs can be expensive but in return I can sleep soundly at night, knowing that only genuine parts have been used for the maintenance of my watches. The authorized repair center for one of my timepieces is located in Cubao. The company is called Watchworks. They only service a limited number of brands, which include Michel Herbelin, Oris, Carl F. Bucherer, Orient, Grovana, Claude Bernard, and Tag Heuer. I have used their services three times since the early 2000's. Twice for battery replacement and once for fixing the spring connector for the wrist band. I like Watchworks for three reasons. Firstly, they have competent and certified staff that work on the brands they service. Although, I have heard one or two customers complain about the unusually long time (six to nine months) it took for their timepieces to be fixed. One has to understand that some parts needed to be imported straight from the manufacturers. Worse, vintage models may require made-to-order components that may no longer be available. Fortunately, this hasn't happened to me yet. Secondly, they automatically clean up my watch as an added service. More than having a restored appearance, cleaning a watch can help it avoid costly damages. This service center also provides warranty for their work. Lastly, I have always been impressed by the receiving and waiting area at Watchworks. The carpeted interior has rows of moviehouse seats facing a big television screen which plays very entertaining (and tempting) ads for major watch brands. But during my last visit, the air-conditioning system was not working very well.

He's been looking for a reputable watch repair service since his beloved Orient watch stopped working and he didn't have the time or the moolah to have it repaired in the service center in Ali Mall. The old man behind the counter gazed through his bug-eye lens at my lobster's watch, grunted, opened it up, then got to work. We came back an hour later with the watch good as new (they even cleaned it!) and my lobster looking so happy. All for five hundred pesos, too.

I often have it done at some small watch repair stalls that I'd encounter somewhere, but I'm also a steady customer at Three S Gift Shop at Farmer's Plaza. There are a number of similar establishments in the building, but I've always felt a little more welcome there as the staff are a little more attentive and responsive to your needs. They've whole racks of straps there which won't necessarily empty your wallet, and good different kinds at that. I've always felt like the straps I've seen at the bigger, more expensive places (whichever those are) look too cumbersome for my taste. Are they genuine leather? Ask them that. Really all I care about is that it looks nice on my tiny wrists. They sell and repair various watches and clocks too, of course. While I have a preference to avoid bling with a humble leather watch, I'm quite taken with and I just might by this rose gold Casio number they have on display. There's always a booth that sells cheap, discounted watches by the hallway too, so if you're itching for some cheap timekeeper to up your wardrobe, drop by and have a look.

Burton is located inside the mall, it's convenient to shop around and do errands before picking up the watch.What I like about them is they would explain what's wrong, what needs to be done and how much it would cost, so no hidden charges.Besides taking care and fixing my beloved watches, this small stall also do all sorts of key duplications and sell different hooks and keychains too.
