Veterinarian ~ STARS 1/5. The veterinarian claims to have several pets of her own, but was not sympathetic with our cat's situation. We went in with a sick eighteen-year-old cat. We love our little fur baby! We understand that our fur baby may not have many days, weeks, or months of life left, but the veterinarian did not share this idea with us when we were given a laundry list of pharmaceuticals to select from, which totaled $1400.00 in value. We chose to buy the blood work, the pain (liquid form) medication, the kidney pills, anxiety pills, and the liquid bag to give our fur baby in vitro needle insertion, and needles. After waiting for six hours in the parking lot, which we were told would take one hour maximum, we found out the blood work suggests our fur baby has kidney and liver disease. We weee not given an explanation of the medical work at the end but just a long list of what to buy to treat our little cat. The veterinarian came in quickly to tell us the urgency of the medical needs of our fur baby, but never did a physical exam in front of us. We were only told about the exam and blood work. We made our choice of medicines to choose from and the vet assistant talked us through how to perform the in vitro, which was fast and did not help us try. In fact, this office refuses to allow us to come into the office to have them insert the in vitro, so we were left with watching many YouTube channels with how to perform the insertion with the needle. We were told we cannot have access to the blood work results! We left the office feeling lost and saddened with the result of how we were going to insert the needle and medication to allow our fur baby to live a more peaceful life at this point in her life. We started the medical process at home, which ended up being tiresome and devastating! Our strong willed cat refused the pills even after trying to mash them up and mid with water to insert into her mouth. The in vitro was tiresome and too difficult. We chose to get a second opinion or felt like our fur baby was at the end of her life! After going to a different veterinary office, we were given love and hope. The veterinarian told us we should have a copy of the results of the blood work and that after examining our fur baby, that she still has time to live a more peaceful life. The vet assistant was loving and caring towards us and our cat, very unlike the experience at Aspire. The office staff in the new vet's office told us they will gladly help us or we could come to the office to perform the weekly in vitro insertions for us. We were happy! We will never return to Aspire! The entire office staff is robotic and the veterinarian left us with the idea that she only is working for the $$$$$$$$$$$$. Bye, bye, bye! read more

To Whom It May Concern, Yesterday, I brought my 17-and-a-half-year-old dog, Coal, to your office. I have had him since he was a puppy, and he is more than just a pet--he is my best friend. After many months of reflection, difficult conversations, and emotional turmoil, I made the painful decision to explore humane euthanasia due to his rapidly declining quality of life. Coal is blind, deaf, and vomits after nearly every meal. At home, he no longer walks around--he simply sleeps most of the day. During our visit, the doctor suggested that my decision was premature because Coal was still able to walk and sniff around. What wasn't acknowledged was that, of course, he would be sniffing--he was in a vet's office, and his sense of smell is the only sense he has left. That behavior was not a sign of vitality, it was a response to new stimuli in a strange environment. The vet then mentioned that with treatment for his ear infection, dry eyes, and proper grooming, he might be more comfortable. While that might be true in a general sense, it came across as dismissive of everything I've been going through as a pet owner and caregiver. I felt judged, as though I had been neglecting my dog, rather than heard and supported. No one in that room knows Coal better than I do. And no one else can understand how heartbreaking it was for me to even make that appointment. The overall attitude from the staff only added to my distress. I felt unsupported, shamed, and heartbroken--not just because of Coal's condition, but because of the way I was treated during such a painful moment. I never expected compassion to be lacking in a veterinary clinic, but unfortunately, that's exactly how I felt. I hope no other pet owner has to feel as dismissed and hurt as I did yesterday. Well I'm really quite upset about my recent experience with Aspire Veterinary Center I need to start out by giving you a little back story. I had been going to another vet for many years.... But unfortunately he retired and it seemed that the staff had changed a lot along with no longer offering an annual membership...they had in the past- Orangethorpe Animal Hospital in Buena Park Recently I saw a facebook post about this situation and people were referring their vets, and Aspire had great reviews so I made an appointment for my 2 dogs. A corgi 13 years, that I've had since a pup and a newly adopted dog who a jack Russell mix who's 12 years old. My corgi has allergies issues and he's getting up there and has other issues going on. I was thrilled with doctor Lam! I loved her approach and she was very thorough and helpful. I was given a report on each dog. I was given an estimate of $2600 for Yogi to do a few recommendations.... I opted to focus on the allergies and did agree for senior blood work for each dog to start with. Dr Lam also reviewed Yogis previous records and made a comment that she did not recommend the medication of Apoquel for Yogi due to tumors he had, so we changed it to Cytopoint injections which are monthly. I also bought some medicated shampoo and agreed to a 3 week follow for Yogi to see how he was doing. During the first visit with Dr Lam I was also informed the Yogi had a heart murmur! I was very concerned because I had never been informed of that by the previous vet. Unfortunately yesterday I lost trust in this veterinary center! Again I was REALLY happy after my initial visit and was actually recommending this center to neighbors who referred me to our old vet.... Because we were all disappointed that he retired. Yesterday was my follow up with Yogi.... I saw a traveling veterinarian Dr Nguyen... I really wished I would have been told ahead of time I would not be seeing MY new veterinarian for the follow up, I would have been more than happy to reschedule so I could continue on the same treatment plan for my dog Yogi. The technician I saw prior to the veterinarian asked ME what I was there for? I know you chart notes on everything so I re-explained how we are there for a follow up? She also told me Yogi needed vaccines which surprised me because i brought an entire file on him for them to make copies 3 weeks ago on his first visit of his previous visits and records and now this tech is telling me they don't have his shot record? Again I feeling a little confused by this conversation.... But we press forward... then I'm really surprised when a new vet walks in and asks me what I am there for and I explain a recheck for allergies She also mentions that if I do a teeth cleaning within 30 days of the bloodwork I won't have to pay for it because we just did it and it's within 30 days.... I kind of re-explain that Yogi is 13, the estimate on the last visit was $2600! She was like wow what does he need? I said he has tumors, growth on his foot, heart murmur, needs teeth cleaning etc She (Dr Nguyen) says she's not sure she would recommend the teeth cleaning with a heart murmur, may not be worth the risk!!! I'm thinking to myself, I wonder why Dr Lam feel that way when I saw her 3 weeks prior. We then went on to discuss his allergies and she said that she felt he needs more than the monthly shot of Cytopoint... and suggested pills of Apoquel which is the medicine Dr Lam told me 3 weeks ago that she wouldn't recommend for Yogi due to tumors... I brought this up and Dr Nguyen said for short term use he shouldn't have any issues. Okay I agreed for a week of pills and to follow up and come back for another follow up. Dr Nguyen then said she wanted to check his heart for the murmur... she listened while I petted and said she DIDNT think he had one she said honestly his heart sounded pretty good for his age! (13) which floor me because 3 weeks prior on the estimate for treatment I was quoted $700 for an echocardiogram. She did suggest an ear flush and they checked and he has an infection so I bought the week of Apoquel and ear drops. As I drove home I felt like I made a mistake and was mad at myself for switching to this veterinary clinic after 2 visits! This is in regards to the ridiculous review left by the coward with the initials G.R. I am a client of Aspire Veterinary Center and was in the exam room next to this psycho. He is a mentally imbalanced man who threw a tantrum like a little child because he wanted everything NOW! He berated the staff who were trying their best to accommodate him and then hit the wall next to me violently several times before he left. I saw that he had put a hole in the wall of the next room. Throughout his tantrum, Dr. Lam and her staff remained professional and tried their best to help him but there is no helping a person who is disturbed like this guy. As for my visit, for my cat Lisa, I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Lam and her staff. They always take such great care of my pets. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that this establishment has no respect for clients' time or any attention to detail. I had a 2:00 PM appointment for a simple pet health certificate, something I've done over 15 times before across multiple international flights, and this visit was, by far, the worst experience ever. I arrived at 1:50 PM, well ahead of my scheduled appointment, thinking it would be a smooth process. By 2:25 PM, they finally put me in a room, essentially leaving me in a box with no updates. After waiting until 2:45 PM, I asked the staff if the doctor was going to see me anytime soon. Instead of addressing my concern, they handed me some paperwork - something that should have been given to me the moment I arrived, not 45 minutes into my wait. At 3:00 PM, having waited an hour for what should be a 15-20 minute max process, I walked out in utter frustration. If this clinic can't even handle basic time management or the simple task of completing a health certificate, how can anyone trust them to properly care for a pet? This place is a complete joke. It's poorly managed, disorganized, and utterly unprofessional. Save yourself the headache and find a vet who respects your time and values proper pet care. read more

I took a 2 1/2 week old French Bull Dog in to the La Palma office because it just wasn't acting right I initially thought he was constipated. Turns out he had a heart murmur. He ended up passing away while I was in the back room with him. There was nothing that could have been done due to it being a genetic disorder. August 1, 2023 I brought my dog to the Aspire Veterinary Center for skin sores and allergy. Dr. Lam examined my dog and gave me a list of all the medication's and procedures needed to be done, her recommendations. The total cost was a little under $2000 to be exact $1934.73. For example a 0.3 ML antibiotic injection was $137.50. Blood lab for allergy was $553.00; x-ray was $270.00. Cytopoint 10 mg injection $66.00. I asked Dr. Lam who is the owner of this place and she did not answer me three times. I asked again are you the owner yes or no. It's a simple question and finally she said yes on the fourth try. Dr. Lam said she does not handle the prices, It's the managers department. So you're the owner of the business and you did not set the prices for medication's and procedures. That's a flat out lie. Wow, really Dr. Lam told me to get out of her office. Her prices are immensely expensive, beware of this place, they charge an arm and a leg and extra.
