Went against my better judgement and tried this place. On my first session there, they only did x-rays and no cleaning. The dentist took one look at the x-rays and listed off a number of things I "absolutely needed" to get done, totaling over $6k with insurance. I decided to forgo most of it and make an appointment for a crown (one of the items she listed). I came in for my 8 am appointment, sat for 1.5 hrs, and left when they told me I would need to wait another 30 mins. Did they expect me to sit there all day? When I called back to reschedule (again against my better judgement), the receptionist was APPALLED that I only had available dates a few weeks out, urging me to come in ASAP. Ironic, when I already tried to get in and have the work done. I went back for my rescheduled 8 am appointment today. I arrived 15 minutes early, hoping that would put me first on the list to be called back as it's obvious they make 5+ appointments for each slotted time. 40 minutes goes by and I asked the receptionist when I can expect to be called back. She told me the dentist does not arrive until 9 am. Why would they schedule me for an 8 am appointment??? I left and will not be returning. read more

We should have read the reviews beforehand. Last June my wife had an appointment at the Westminster office. She was experiencing pain with one tooth. After her examination she was told the the solution to her problem would be a root canal followed by a crown. She was presented with a treatment plan that stated the total expense for the procedure (before insurance payments and adjustments) would be $3,311 and that her out-of-pocket would be $1,281. She was required to pay $1,047, up front, in order to schedule the next appointment. She paid this amount. It took about a month (making additional payments that brought the total paid to $1,470) to get all of the work done, then the problems started. In early August we received a bill from Aspen stating that we owed $322.10. I called the billing office in Rochester to request an itemized statement because our payments already exceeded the original estimate. I'm still waiting for the itemization. In October I received a bill saying that we now owed $586.60. I ignored this bill. In April we got a new bill which now claimed we owed $1,947.60. I again called Rochester to ask for an itemized statement and for an explanation why the amount allegedly owed keeps climbing. The response was vague but blamed it all on my insurance company. I told them that my insurance had made payments to Aspen to the full amount allowed in a policy year so they couldn't blame it on the insurance. Despite this, Rochester stated that they would refile with my insurance and get back to me (still waiting). Then, I called to billing office at the Westminster office. According to Rochester, a total of nearly $6,000 of services was charged to my account (versus the quote of $3,311). I asked the Westminster Office Manager to explain how the cost of the treatment program nearly doubled without our knowledge. She was unable to explain but promised to speak to a dentist to find out. I am still waiting on her answer. In May, the bill said that we now owe $1,749.60. The June bill says we owe $1,788.10. Keep in mind that neither my insurance, nor I, have made any payments to Aspen since last August. I called Rochester again this morning to complain. I got the same response, they blame it on the insurance company and then referred me to the local office. Upon connecting with Westminster I was told that the Office Manager was "looking into my concern", was out of the office until this afternoon, and would be left a message to contact me. I won't hold my breath. I have no intentions of paying another cent to Aspen Dental and am half tempted to file a complaint with the Maryland Attorney General. Nobody likes going to the dentist, but I showed up with a mouth full of laziness and bad habits. This location welcomed me, kept it judge free, talked me through my entire dental plan while using terminology I could understand, and made sure I was comfortable. I have had three crowns and a root canal completed just in the last few weeks and finally feel like I can smile confidently. I won't be letting anyone else touch my teeth from here on out and I look forward to completing my plan! read more

I googled a dentist that was near me because I have a chipped tooth that I wanted fixed as soon as possible. I saw Aspen dental and I saw the bad reviews, but I was desperate and wanted my tooth fixed the same day so I called. When they originally answer the phone, they just put me on hold. I was on hold by two different people for almost 25 minutes then when I finally talk to someone her name is Evelyn and I ask if they have anything available today because I have a chip tooth and I explained everything she then says no, so I'm waiting for her to potentially give me another day that they're available by and she's just sitting on the phone silent so then I said are you going to give me another available date so that I can come and she said I didn't give her a chance, but I was sitting on the phone for two minutes in complete silence right after she said no. I asked to speak to a manager and she told me there's no manager. I asked when a manager would be available and she told me that there's no manager. She then asked me in the middle of me talking, did I want the appointment or not. she also said it's really busy because it's a Friday but today is Thursday. She was so quick to be rude but misspoke and still never apologized. don't go. read more

So from my previous review it has only gotten worse from Us having to cancel the oral surgeon and get our money back and that took 2 days just to get our money back because they only sent us back the 20 out of 130. Now I have made an appointment with the oral surgeon who took out my wisdom teeth from a different establishment. They have called me telling me that Aspen is NOT answering any of there phone calls or emails for my dental referral because they can only pull my tooth with the referral. The last time someone spoke to my oral surgeon was 3 days ago and saying they would send it over but never have. It's truly ridiculous and it was bad enough before we had to call the higher ups just to get the money back so I can only imagine what it will be like now read more

This is a corporate conglomerate that has horrific customer service. I was way overcharged and after paying thousands for me and my children, they came back saying I owed 1200 more. I finally got with a rep at their headquarters, brought in my insurance agent and for over an hour all 3 went line by line where my rep corrected their overcharges. The Aspen rep said she will now go back and do an audit on all our bills. A week later she called me and said not to worry about the bill, we don't owe that. I then asked her what money is coming back to us and she just said, you're good, you don't need to pay it. I asked her to ensure this is updated in their system so that I don't go through this nightmare again. A month later, there's another 1200 bill saying they're going to send it to collections. Of course I called and the girl on the phone said she couldn't see anything in the system about the audit. I told her the name of the rep I worked with, but she said she didn't indicate anything in the system and hung up. After several more attempts, I finally got a rep who came back and said after thorough review, not only do I not have to pay the $1200, but have a $675 credit. I was livid. No one told me I had this coming back and they were keeping it as a "credit". I demanded a refund and told them I'm never using their services again. I'm sure I'll get another bill a month from now and still waiting on that refund. It's been a nightmare and you truly feel like you're just a number in their greedy machine. I can't recommend strongly enough to STAY AWAY from this place unless you want to be completely ripped off. Went here for myself, with no dental insurance, with my 18 year old, who still had Pediatric dental coverage through our health insurance, and my 20 year old, who did not, because my dentist couldn't get us in for several months and Aspen Dental offered a FREE exam and FREE X-rays. Had a bad gut feeling walking into a nearly empty waiting room, wondering why it wasn't busier. Completed paperwork for all three of us, but found it a little strange that they required my daughter's insurance information before they even knew what services she would need. It was supposed to be a FREE exam and FREE X-rays, after all. No complaints at first, as the X-ray tech was friendly and the X-rays were thorough. Upon seeing the dentist, however, it became very obvious, very quickly, that this was nothing more than a money making scheme. I had no cavities, but the dentist pointed out that I had gum recession severe enough to require a periodontal deep clean, to the tune of over a thousand dollars. Strange, since I have had pristine dental hygiene most of my 57 years (last cavity age 9) and my regular dentist, who I have seen for many years, never mentioned. But, it wasn't impossible, I supposed. Of course, when my kids were examined, lo and behold, they BOTH (remember, 18 and 20 years old), had gum recession severe enough to require a periodontal deep clean! This was in addition to SEVERAL cavities each. Even with insurance, they told me my daughter's bill would be almost $1,000 for everything she "needed" and my son's, without insurance, would be over $2,000. Since the $5,000+ was beyond what I could afford, I declined, stating that I would just like to have my kids cavities filled and get regular cleanings for all of us. Then, and here's where it gets good, they REFUSED to perform these services unless we all had the periodontal deep cleans done! THEY WOULDN'T EVEN FILL MY KIDS CAVITIES WITHOUT THEM!! Needless to say, I requested that they email our X-rays to me (they are REQUIRED by law to give you your medical records, including X-rays) and promptly left. I then scheduled appointments for us with my regular dentist, which, we had to wait a few months for. In the meantime, Aspen Dental had the gall to send my son a BILL for his FREE services and BILLED MY DAUGHTER'S INSURANCE for her FREE services!! After complaining, quite angrily to them, they wrote off my son's bill, but would not budge on refunding my insurance company for my daughter. Their reason, when I insisted that these services were advertised as FREE, was that, "They were free...to you." Right. Except that it used one of my daughter's exams, of which she is allowed just two per year. How is that free? Aspen Dental is an unethical establishment that should be avoided at all cost. Oh, and when we were eventually seen by our regular dentist, NONE of us required periodontal deep cleans and my kids only had a COUPLE of cavities each, which our dentist was happy to fill. Drove an entire hour just to be seen. arrived @10:15 just for them to tell me they couldn't see me until 1pm. After speaking with a manager she tells us there is nothing she can do and we are free to wait for until 1 to be seen just for an exam and xray. There was only one person there!!!!! When you go to a dentist office regardless you have to sit for about 30 mins so none of it makes sense and they didn't try to help whatsoever. SUPER UNHELPFUL AND DONT WANT TO DO THEIR JOB. I see why their rating is so low ! I will never visit this place again, if I could give zero stars I would. the lady didn't even want to Get the manager at first. read more

No receptionist when I was there. Their office seemed disorganized and all of the staff acted like they did not want to be/work there. Overheard returning patients that were not happy. Will try to up charge you for services. Dental staff and hygienist did not seem experienced. Will never return to an aspen dental this was first time going and was for an initial exam/x-ray. My Aetna Dental insurance sent me a notice that they were changing my assigned dental to Aspen dental in Owings mills. I called to schedule an appt. fo late Sept 2022 & the schedular assigned me for late Sept at their Westminster office which was closer to mDe. The day before my appt. I was contacted by Aspen in Westminster to verify my insurance & was told they were not accepting Aetna at any of Aspen offices. I said the Aspen scheduler took my info & never said anything when I verbally provided Aetna insurance info. I needed a crown & had to seek another Dentist on short notice & had to reschedule since I planned to leave the area. Terrible Aspen processing & now that I'm seeing all these Aspen complaints I actually glad I didn't begin an association with them for my dental needs. read more

My father went to Aspen Dental for a full set of dentures. After months of appointments and promises not kept, he finally had enough and went to another dental practice where he received full dentures in 2 days! His account was paid in full through Care Credit until he disputed the charges due to dissatisfaction with the services provided as well as how he and my mother were treated by the staff at 2 different locations. Care Credit took back a portion of their payment which Aspen is not trying to collect again from my father. My parents are in their late 70's and the way they have been treated is horrendous! read more

I was supposed to have a hygienist appointment today. I got a call 2 hours before the appointment saying I never confirmed and so they cancelled it. I gave them proof I did confirm after which they changed their story that the hygienist's schedule had changed. They told me I would have to rebook but that they have no openings for 3 months. I understand stuff happens and people have to change schedules, but I'm angry that they first tried to lie to me and blame me for the change in schedule. Clearly they have no ethics and so I can't trust them with my health. read more

Drove an hour to go here because no one else had an opening and my husband desperately needed his wisdom teeth out. Went for appointment and got told the woman who could go over a financial plan with us had left and that she would call us tomorrow to figure it out. I had to call them and get told we had to go back to the actual building to do our payment plan just so they could put him on the schedule. Went back today and applied for financial assistance which is a complete joke! You have to be rich just to pay monthly for a surgery which if we were we'd just pay for insurance. My husband got completely denied I only got approved for $1,000 of the $3,000 bill when I asked the receptionist all she said was "yes that's correct. And we'll need the rest up front to put him on the schedule" told her we didn't have it and she just asked us for more people to apply. I said we couldn't do it and that my husband would just have to be in pain since they wouldn't offer anything else and all she had to say was "we'll have a nice day" total waste of two weeks and will now have to start our search over. read more

You can't get a cleaning on your first visit. They make you schedule a visit just for x-rays and a "gum-check" before they allow you to book a cleaning. So you have to go back a second time. read more
