They scheduled me for an appointment to remove my tooth today they had a sign on the door saying they were closed called the service number they lied and claimed that they called me the 19th and left a voicemail to tell me that they needed to reschedule, they never called nor left any messages not even an email contact now I have to find a better dental office to cut my tooth out they knew this was serious I've heard this place is shady as hell and over priced I'll find a better dental office that accepts both blue Cross and total Iowa care and not pricks who want to charge you out of the ass in this recession read more

Same problem as the rest, new insurance and had no other choice but to use this place. I spend 6K on a bridge implant and they used 2 teeth to bind to, well the bridge was not placed correctly and a tooth was compromised and my bridge fell out. I had to fork out another 6K to have it done right. There are plenty of options here in town, do not use Aspen Dental they're incompetent. read more

So I wanted to wait until I was no longer a patient here to put in my review. My family of 4 all had dental visits at this location last fall. I changed jobs and my company provided insurance was only accepted at this dentist office within the cedar valley. I was hesitant to change dentists because we had a long history with our past dentist. I made appointments via phone. I also provided all of my insurance information and patient information via phone. I scheduled cleanings for myself, my two boys and my husband. Then a few days before the appointments I received separate text messages for each patient that I had to individually respond to or they would cancel my appointments. And even when I responded I kept getting messages to call them about my appointments. I confirmed the appointments but the. Received not 1 but 3 phone calls trying to reschedule my appointments because it was before Labor Day and too many staff were going to be gone. Even after I rescheduled my appointment to an earlier time- as early as I could make it they called me and still tried to get me to come in earlier. They seemed upset that I was unable to because I had a doctors appointment right before the visit. My appointment was on a separate date from my husband and kids. When I got there they performed their "complimentary" X-rays, then put me in a chair and the dentist came in to see me (after about 20 minutes- they kept apologizing it was taking so long although I seemed to be the only patient in the whole place at 2pm in the afternoon). When he came in he looked at my teeth for a moment and then tried to sell me a slew of treatments: fluoride treatment, teeth whitening, cancer screening etc. I declined all of them. I just wanted a cleaning and a check up. Then they had me go to the billing person to pay for the cleaning. They had already billed my insurance to see what my copay was. So I paid my copay before anything had been done. Then they scheduled my appointment for my cleaning. I was like "um that's what this appointment was for". Nope. As a new patient they make you do X-rays and pay and then schedule a 2nd appointment for the actual work. So I had to take off another afternoon of work! When my boys came they did the cleaning the same day. But when my husband came he had to have two appointments too. It seemed like all they tried to do was sell us extra services. Don't try to sell me a cancer screening if I have no genetic history or smoke. Look at my chart and my teeth and if I need it then recommend it behold a doctor order an ekg on a patient exhibiting no heart distress? I think not. The teeth cleaning was not thorough and was rushed. I think they only had 1 dental hygienist. She had to clean everyone's teeth. The rest of the people were for X-rays, reception, billing and she was the only one doing all the work. The place was clean, the people were nice. The dentist was nice. But that's the only reason they get 2 stars. They are a corporate monster that is just pumping customers through with an algorithm. When my husband was offered a better dental insurance through work we jumped at the chance to change. When I told my 11 year old we had dentist appointments he asked "it's not at the place we went last time was it?" Even the 11 year old saw a difference in quality. Never again. I had 5 crowns put on by the dentist in Waterloo, Iowa. It cost around $6,000. I had problems so I went to another dentist who told me all the "crowns" were not done right and food and bacteria were getting underneath them. I ended up having to have all five of those teeth pulled. I had to go to a "regular" dentist so she would refer me to an oral surgeon. That cost about $1,500 more. So I'm broke and have very few teeth now. I do not recommend Aspen Dental in Waterloo, Iowa. read more

I registered with Aspen Dental yesterday and had a wonderful experience. From check-in to payment advice as I left. The x-rays and check up were free of charge which was great. I wasn't pressured into services and was actually told I needed no work done! Dental nurse Maida Megan W was as friendly and informative as one could get and made me feel at ease. Followed by Dr Ala'a Al Arabi's inspection was detailed and dare I say it... enjoyable! Thank you to all of the team, a very nice surprise indeed and highly recommended. read more

Called because I was in severe pain. Asked if they could do an emergency extract today. They confirmed that they could and scheduled a time. Went to apt, scheduled at 10:30AM. I wasn't seen until 11:15AM. I told them I was only being seen there because my dentist was closed today and because they said they can extract the tooth today. The nurse did a bunch of x rays although I specifically said that I was only there for the one tooth. When done, she said; we have one doctor, we might not be able to do the extract today. While waiting for the dentist.. I look on the floor and see a huge spider just crawling on the floor. I point it out to the nurse in disgust. She takes a cup and traps the spider and just leaves it there. Eww. The dentist finally comes in, stands near me for 3-5 mins, barely peeks at the tooth troubling me. He then suggest I take some antibiotics and come back because infection was severe. He said if we pulled today, it's likely I'd feel the pain severely because infection wouldn't allow the tooth to get numb. After speaking to another lady/financials.. because my insurance isn't accepted there. She says $240 and could extract at 4pm. I ended up taking the antibiotics and leaving. HUGE waste of time!!!! They could've extracted my tooth 3 times with all the time they wasted doing unnecessary shit. Very disappointed! read more

Recommendations included (4) surface fillings, perio therapy (gum and teeth cleaning), and upper and lower dentures. Total cost of $3736.00 on one consultation worksheet. I had to ask the office/business manager for a complete breakdown of the total costs. I requested to get the surface fillings done and would think about the other recommendations and was told I had to pay for the fillings up front before it would be done. I responded by stating I always pay for dental work at time of service. I make $36,000 per year, have an auto loan at Veridian Credit Union, and no missed payments on credit. Alana, Megan W. and Doctor Arabi made sure I understood the process I would be undergoing and the treatments I would need. There was no sugar coating the news but it was delivered with a genuine concern for my health and well being. I entrusted my dental care to Aspen Dental in Waterloo, IA about 5 years ago. Full extraction, full dentures and a lower mini implant. Here I am now, with one implant out, and my dentures hurt sooo much I can barely wear them. Back when I brought my issues to Aspen, they always had an excuse...ohh you have some tori bone there....Hello? I paid you 980 bucks to remove it. My first set of dentures were misaligned, my next set were back in the office in 2 days. Really??? My first set was in a week. Sooo in 2 days, they shipped my teeth out, remade them, and sent them back. To this day, I truly believe they gave my the lower cost dentures they make in the office, even though I purchased the high dollar ones. That is just part of it...it was one mishap after another. At the end of the day, they got their money, made their budget that month, and 5 years later, I am still paying the price. So in short.....run, do not walk away from these people!!!
