First of all, there was a two hour wait in the waiting room. I was also told that they would need to verify my insurance coverage, and they said they left a message the morning of the appointment. I never received such a message. They claimed they were running behind because their answering service doubled booked appointments that day so they were backed up. When I finally got in, they took 18 X-rays of my mouth which was uncomfortable. Then, I finally got into a chair where I waited another ten minutes and was asked why I was there that day. I said X-rays and a cleaning. The hygienist was calling numbers into a microphone when another patient walked in asking the hygienist if he was finished with him because he was left there alone, wondering. He kept saying "this isn't right." Prior to that, another patient walked out after a long wait. Finally, the verdict came in saying they would call me in with a treatment plan and cost. Needless to say, I received no call and had to call them. They then insisted I needed a deep cleaning which I had only two years ago and they said I needed a crown replaced and another one added. One of them was quite new! After all was said and one the total cost I needed done would be over 6,000.00 and they told me of their payment plans. Needless to say, I will be going elsewhere. This place clearly rips people off and is unprofessional and not a place I will return to! I do NOT recommend. read more

Just got off the phone with there office. Stay away they charged my insurance and didn't like what they got paid. So they just bill you whatever amount they want 8 months later. They charged me on the first visit and bill your insurance and whatever they don't get they bill you the rest. This place is actually really great. I don't have good dental insurance and they were so lovely and did what they could do help. The dentist and technicians are so friendly and good at their job. I have a healthy amount of dental anxiety and they're always very patient and helpful with it. I just had two wisdom teeth pulled without sedation and it really wasn't that bad. The dentist is great, the staff up front are great and the office manager is super sweet. I was so hesitant to go to a "chain" dental place but I was so pleasently surprised. I had a very thorough set of exrays taken with some other sorts of assessment. Very high tech machines and billing software. The dentist liked the work that has already been done. However the hygienist warned me of bone loss with some numbers for gum pockets of 6 and 7. They also said one cap is needs to be replaced and bacteria is getting in and causing decay. I got detailed estimates for special "deep" cleaning of $1,003 AFTER my insurance. If I did the crown replacement, it was $1541. This was very upsetting so I went back to my regular dentist. I got a very satisfactory assessment - pockets are 3-4 which is normal and the crown is solid and does not need to be replaced. My bill BEFORE my insurance was $275! I am going back in the normal 6 months. BEWARE of the organization! read more

I got my teeth cleaned on 2/14. Regular cleaning. I have insurance and they office manager said that my balance was around $58. I paid it. As stated in the class action lawsuit involving this company, they gave me a treatment plan for nonsense...said my fillings were leaking and needed to be replaced. Yet, I have no pain. I said no to the treatment plan. Then, I received a bill for $195. Hence, I'm going to go in person and have them zero out this trumped up charge and contact the attorney general for the state to lodge a complaint. I called a month in advance to ask my questions before scheduling...1) Are you accepting new patients? They said yes. 2) Do you accept our insurances? I stated four different insurances, they said they accept all four. 3) I then mentioned that my Mom have a lot of work to do, extractions and dentures needed. I asked if she would be able to get started the week of our appointment as she have plans to travel soon after, and was told yes. As I was told yes to all my questions, I scheduled our two appointments for the morning of May 18th. We got to our appointments about 15 minutes early, started doing paper work and was interrupted and told both of my insurances are not accepted. I then asked if my Mom's was, and was told yes. So I said no problem, she is the one that needs work, not me. So we continued with her appointment. As we were waiting for my Mom to be called, I was approached asking if I'd be interested in a payment plan for my appointment, and of course I was not as I have insurance. My Mom's appointment took a long time, all they did was take x-rays and examined her, no cleaning or anything else, so I'm not sure why it took over an hour. Anyway, we were then given a long consultation about all the work she needs, which we already knew. But they said they had to do their own examination. We were then told they're waiting to hear back from our insurance company, and they will contact us the next day. As I didn't hear from them the next day, I called. At that time I was told they do not accept my Mom's insurance either. I was upset as our time, and money was waisted, I asked if they would send me a copy of her exam so we could get the work done elsewhere. They then tried selling their payment plan again. I decliened. They said they would email a form that needs to be filled out before they could release her records to us. The formed was filled out in person the day of our appointments, so I'm not sure why they needed it filled out again. But anyway, it took me calling and emailing them over a week, before they basically said it'll take another two weeks before they send it. So the bottom line is, they lied from the very beginning. Thinking we would pay out of pocket, instead of using a company that accepts our insurances. Very unprofessional, all they care about is money. I know it's a business, but lying is not the right way to go about making money. Now my Mom have to spend extra money for a new appointment, as the insurance will not cover more x-rays and another examination. read more

I did not even have an appointment here. I had just had a horrible experience at ALL SMILES across the street and walked in to see if A)They took my insurance, and B) if not, if they could still help me. I didn't realize but they had already closed and the place was pretty empty. The door hasn't been locked yet and there was a very nice woman getting ready to leave. I asked her my questions and even though they could not help me at that moment, she was so kind and patient with me. I really needed that after my terrible experience across the street. We never received a statement, indicating that there was a balance from a recent visit. When my husband went there for his scheduled tooth extraction they wanted $1100 before they would pull it. He was able to pay $500 but no, that wasn't acceptable. No discussion on payment options. Especially during these difficult times, this was not patient care. "We're all in this together"...only when you get your money upfront. Needless to say we won't be returning to Aspen Dental. This is not how you treat your patients. read more

I went for a toothache, after a little consultation I decided to get some cosmetics done, I apply for the financing and everything seems OK, the day of my appointment they want to start with the cosmetic instead of my toothache, I told the m that I was in pain but they insisted on doing the cosmetic first, I told them NO and cancel the appointments, for my surprise I was hit with a late charge with the financing company, they did not cancel anything related to the financing, that office just care about money and not patients needs. read more

I went in for a wisdom tooth extraction. The dentist that was working on me said they were short staffed and had me handing him instruments during the extraction. A few days later, I went in because the pain was worse than before I went in. He glanced at it, said Im gonna be ok, take the antibiotics and sent me on my way. A came in a week and a half later due to still having pain, I requested an appointment, they said they could work me in 3 days from then. I asked for a note for work, and he then said that I shouldn't need off for 2 weeks for a tooth extraction. I agreed and said that something was definitely wrong. I explained I did NOT want additional pain meds, I wasn't looking for pills, I need to get back to work. He shrugged me off, said he would refer me to a surgeon friend of his, but that was it. The staff was very nice, but the dentist himself is a piece of work. Go at your own risk, and don't expect top notch care if you get anything more than a cleaning. I will never recommend this place and plan on filing a complaint with corporate. read more

OK, when was the last time someone said they had a great root canal and crown replacement. The Norwalk office of Aspen is filled with stars. Dr. Caitlin Berwick and Dr. Dawn Weldon are fantastic. The support staff are also incredibly wonderful. Both doctors are overly concerned about your pain management and performing the procedures with the highest of standards. Because of the shoddy work this dental office did - several fillings - I had to undergo two (and possibly soon, three) root canals. When I was there, they had a very green dentist who didn't know how to drill - and he really damaged my teeth. Thousands of dollars later, I'm still undoing the damage they did. Not worth it. I think it's impossible for anyone to say "I had a great time at the dentist." But, I can honestly say I was treated very well and after my second visit I didn't experience any service or professionalism that would require a sub 4 star review. The receptionist expected me when I arrived and greeted me by name, the atmosphere is comfortable and clean, there are a lot of tvs for some reason, and the hygienist was taking lots of precautions and changes gloves frequently. Her bedside manner was really good and I felt relaxed and at east. Came in for my first round of cleaning after initial X-ray and consultation. They tried to sell me on a $150 electric toothbrush package in addition to my 2 round cleanings and I didn't want it. Which was fine. But they were more than accommodating to my lunch-break time constraints. I honestly can't find a reason why they shouldn't receive a 4 or below star review. Give them a try. I made a appointment with this company primarily because when I called around the receptionist said that since I did not have dental insurance & since I was a new costumer they would do the initial exam and x-rays free I.e.no charge. In addition she QUOTED me a " special " price for tooth cleaning $84 vs $105 and for a tooth extraction $160 vs $200. If you read thru these reviews you will find that the people who work here are all very nice people. You will also find that most of the negatives involve COST. ( It is SO WONDERFUL that we live in a era where companies receive reviews on their performance !!! I read the reviews and so was prepared ) When I was filling out the new patient paperwork and came to the payment sheet I went to the desk and asked the person about my " special " quotes. It seems that they could not accept them. The woman had a list of excuses. Before I left her I recommended that they train their receptionist NOT to make pie-in-the sky quotes if they were just a ploy to get a costumer in the front door. And the I realized that this is exactly what they were doing. In the old days we would call this a scam. Nowadays, we are much more kind, and we call this a waste of time. Now someone from their front office will respond to this negative review by saying how sorry they are and if I change my mind they would love to have me back. I visited Aspen Dental earlier this year after my insurance switched over, having previously seen a different dentist in Norwalk about 6 months ago for a routine exam and cleaning. Since I was "due" for my 6-month check-up I decided to check out Aspen Dental, as they were a part of my dental network and my former dentist was not. When I made my appointment, the woman who answered the phone was less-than-pleasant, somewhat rudely explaining to me that I couldn't get an exam and a cleaning on the same day, it had to be separate visits because their hygienist is part-time. I've never experienced this before, but okay. I made two appointments. While I was very impressed with the facilities and staff - everything was spotless, sanitary, and new, and the dentist, hygienist, technicians, finance manager, and receptionist were very friendly - overall I was not very pleased with the experience itself. Only one other person was in the waiting room with me but I still waited about 20 minutes to be taken back. Once in the chair, another ten minutes before the dentist came in. But 2 minutes after I sat down, the technician tried to sell me on an oral cancer screening that would have cost $75 and would have required another separate appointment. Since I am not a candidate for oral cancer, I declined, but found it strange that they were charging for such a thing when I've had similar screenings at other practices for free. The dentist was very capable and friendly but when I was informed that I needed a night guard, they told me I had to get a custom mold done right then and there. Upon meeting with the finance manager after my exam, I was informed that such a mold would cost $300 out of pocket. No thank you! A week or so later I had my cleaning with the hygienist. Again, very friendly person, but it was so painful I had to ask her to stop every now and then. My gums bled so much that I was soaking through piece after piece of gauze. As a side note, I floss every day and my gums never bleed. She told me my gums were bleeding so much because the last cleaning I had was "so long ago" but we both knew it was only 6 months prior to my visit. When I checked out I was charged $45 for a fluoride treatment, which, again, normally costs nothing. 2 weeks later, I receive a bill from Aspen Dental for $100 for my cleaning. I thought they were in my network? Upon calling my insurance company, it turns out they never filed a claim with my insurance company but rather billed me directly for something that should not have had out-of-pocket expenses. Luckily I didn't have to pay anything but found it interesting that I received the bill in the first place. (To be fair, this could have been a simple bookkeeping error). Bottom line - the staff was overall very competent and friendly, and the facility is shiny and new, but I felt like everyone there was a used car salesman trying to pitch me something every five minutes. Also, my poor gums were crying. Will not be returning. read more

receptionist are nice, but the dentist is a dick. i called last week to make an appointment so i could get a referral to go an oral surgeon, i did not know that they had one, nor that he only comes once a month. i don't have time to wait a month for the stupid oral surgeon, so i ask for the referral and the dentist yells at the receptionist telling her he wont write me a referral something that takes less than a minute & something i need to go to a cheaper dentist. the price to remove all wisdom teeth was $2,000 thats ridiculous.never getting my business. avoid this place. read more

These reviews won't change my rating. Aspen Dental was recommended by someone who'd been a patient for some time. I was not disappointed. I already knew my teeth would need a LOT of work. So the list of work and the cost wasn't a surprise at all. The first of the work, a root canal, was done today. I'm very satisfied with the way the doctor handled things. He was low key, explained things and understanding of a very nervous patient. The only issue I had was an assistant that appeared to not quite have her act together. She was preparing things while the doctor was waiting to start, which seems to me could have been done sometime during the 20 min. wait after getting novocaine. Then during the procedure, she seemed to need everything repeated whenever he asked for something. He even had to walk over (in the room) to where she was looking for things to tell her where something was. That was a little annoying and off-putting. She was older, so I assumed she wasn't new at the job. But I suppose it could still have been a new career and a new job. Still, the patient shouldn't have to be concerned about the assistant. I loved the initial experience as well. I was a wreck, but all were thorough and friendly and procedures were clearly explained as were prices. I made my appointment online AND filed out and printed all form. When I got there for my first appointment, the receptionist was about to pass me a clipboard, but I passed her the already filled out forms. It was nice not having to sit there and fill out all those forms. I was seen on time. read more

Designer Dental, in cahoots with Genesis Credit. Wouldn't see me for what I came in for, a tooth needed pulled, until I agreed to open a CC account to pay for $3000 worth of work. And I had insurance! After the work was done, I asked for a statement on what the charges were actually for. I had a credit, so I called.......they told me I had to wait for 30 days for all the insurance to go thru. LIE! I waited. Still same credit on account, so I called again and told them to send me my overage. They first said I they could only credit my CC account, Genesis......I had no outstanding balance, so I told them to send me a check, and they said they would. I just received a statement on my account at Genesis, with even a bigger credit than I had previously thought. Nearly $600. So instead of sending me a credit, they went ahead and credited the credit card account anyway, leaving me to have to request the check thru them. I had paid interest on all that money they charged me for phantom work. I will never go back, and I will see to it, that I spread the word on this terrible business and questionable business practices. read more

Aspen Dental in Anderson, SC could do better by keeping their promises. I was told I'd get a full refund for a root canal and crown that they messed up on and told me to just go to advanced endodontics who would fix it by a dentist named Taylor. I spent seven months waiting for my full refund and was told multiple times by representatives like Nick who I come to find out was a 'temp" that they just "couldn't get a hold of" that my refund was coming only to find out at the end that I wasn't getting my full refund. I spent more than $3000 on this tooth. I reported them to the BBB and the answer was "we apologize but you won't be getting the rest of your refund". I'm absolutely disgusted. I wouldn't refer them to anyone. They are unprofessional and can't be trusted. I wish they had recorded phone lines to prove my case. Get everything in writing or end up like me losing $700 plus. read more

Let me begin by saying that I have been a patient with Aspen dental for several years. However, it wasn't until October of 2018 where I began having terrible experiences with the customer service exhibited at the Port Orange, FL location. In October, my appoint was cancelled by Aspen staff multiple times due to scheduling conflicts on their end. I voiced my opinion and was reassured that I wouldn't be inconvenienced again. Fast forward to now and I have experienced the exact same treatment yet again, however, this time, my appointments were cancelled twice within two weeks and less than two hours before my appointment! Like many patients, I try to schedule my appointments around my work schedule. The Port Orange staff called me on April 3rd to cancel my appointment which was scheduled for that afternoon. Their reason was that they didn't have enough hygienists. They rescheduled my appointment for April 18th and called me an hour and a half prior to my appointment to advise that they had cancelled my appointment. When I brought forth my concern, they weren't even aware that they had cancelled two weeks prior. I called back to speak with the office manager Jackie, who was just as useless. She said that there wasn't anything she could do except have me come back another day. When I asked for a corporate number or a customer satisfaction number she refused to provide it to me and stated that she couldn't find one and that I should call back. Needless to say, I had to contact another office (the one where I began services and farther away from my home) to obtain the customer satisfaction number and to schedule an appointment. All in all, I would NEVER do business with the Port Orange location again!!! I'd rather travel just to have great customer service and to feel valued as a patient! read more

I visited this clinic on 10/4/2012 for a routine checkup. I was pleasantly surprised by the clean and friendly atmosphere. My X-ray was completed without any hassle, and it was pretty fast too. My consultation with the Dentist, Dr. Weruche, was also a good experience and i clearly understood what my options were. I am definitely coming back here for my cleaning, and filling (i have already made an appointment). I recommend this clinic to anyone looking to change their Dentist, or looking for a Dentist. Don't go there if you would like to keep money in your pocket!!!. It had been awhile since I have been to the dentist and I had heard of Aspen Dental. I thought brand name, how bad? Short version is they treat you like you just pulled into a mechanic and told them that your car was making noise.. they look under the hoodn with the arrogance of a heart surgeon, show you pictures that you will never understand and tell you ALL the things that need fixing and of course, your insurance will only cover a portion. When it was all said and done, it was determined, that I would need 10 thousand dollars worth of work and of that my insurance would only cover 67 hundred, really?? I mentioned to the unshaven twelve year old dentist that I was expericencing some pain, he refused to fix the tooth because it did'nt "keep me up at night" guess I answered the question wrong. Don't waste your time, keep looking, they only give you a consultation on the first visit and they are expensive!!!. Prior to clicking "Write a Review," I finished reading through the existing review written by "Ann D" on 4/9/13. The description of her experience at this facility was surprisingly close to what I had on my thought - impressive facility, having to make two separate appointments for exam and cleaning, the "used car salesmen" nature of both those that work in the finance section as well as DOCTORS, etc. The routine that they pull on new patients must be a part of their structured training, because I also was strongly suggested to take the oral cancer screening (I am 25 btw) and the fluoride treatment, both for a cost. From here on, I won't repeat what Ann has already stated very well. All of the above was okay for me. I simply considered it as part of the procedure and the manner in which Aspen Dental carries out their business. The part that broke my tolerance for their behavior is related to the miscommunication between the finance and the doctors that results in adverse effect on the part of the customers, and should the customers be smart enough to ever find out that they are getting taken advantage of by simply glancing at the printed receipt vs. the treatment(s) they have gotten, they should not expect getting any type of apology because they will not get one. To elaborate with a specific example, the doctor recommended getting a night guard since I grind my teeth at nights. I was directed to the business manager who explained two types of guards (soft vs hard) and with my insurance policy I will be getting a higher discount for the hard one (~$70 off $200 for the soft, ~$350 off $550 for the hard; not exact price but very close). So the hard one being obviously a better deal on top of the business manager saying it's a better quality, it will last much longer, they both serve the same purpose, etc., I decided to pay for and get the HARD guard. After getting my impression for the HARD guard, I received a call within a couple of days saying my night guard was ready for pick up. After the doctor showed me how to use and clean the guard and told me I was all set, I asked her if this was the hard guard because it seemed pretty soft (rubbery, silicone feeling). I found out that while I was charged for the hard guard, the doctor made the soft guard for me without ever notifying me of it. Then all of a sudden her nice gentle smile disappears and sends me to go talk to the finance people; all they said was that I will be getting the difference of $70 back and since $130 for the soft is cheaper than $200 for the hard, it's better for me. WHAT?!?! So then I tried explaining there was a deeper discount for the hard, thus a better deal, blah blah blah and the doctor ended up saying that the finance people don't know anything about the dentistry, and the two guards serve different purposes so I should just be content at getting my $70 back and keeping the soft, and then she abruptly turned her back on me and walked away. So what's wrong here. First of all, the doc should have explained the difference in types before making the night guards. If I didn't ask about the difference between the soft vs hard, I would have walked out paying for the extra cost for a completely different product that I did not intend to purchase, and that I was never notified about. Second, the fact that the finance charged me for one product and the doc prepared another just shows that they do not communicate among themselves. Lastly, they were completely shameless and thick-skinned about the mistakes they made and did not even say that one basic word that they could have said even if they do not mean it - "sorry." The way their attitude turns 180 degrees when questioning their actions is just mind-blowing. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THAT SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAD HAPPENED. Back in January '13 when I got some fillings done on my cavities, I paid for everything up front before getting the procedure done. They took the x-ray and said that I needed 4 fillings so i should pay $x. After paying for this and getting the fillings done, they later pulled a similar move on me with an invoice in my mail saying that I had to pay an additional $x. I went into the office and asked why, and the doc simply told me that she did 5 fillings. This was completely news on my part - I had no idea where that extra filling came from. It was just $40 that time so I didn't want to waste my time arguing so I let that one go, but this recent experience on top of that is just absolutely unacceptable. If any Aspen Dental associate reads this review and finds ANYTHING that is falsely written, please reply in your defense. I sincerely hope that the way you conduct your business changes for the better as not to lose more customers down the road. read more

I should have read the other reviews before I made an appointment at this place. I just came back from Aspen Dental from what should have been my initial appointment. I just wanted a cleaning but was told that my initial visit would have to be an exam, etc as they would have to see what kind of cleaning I needed, I said fine and went for the appt. today. I was taken almost immediately to have full mouth xrays done. I am seen by a dentist every 6 months so I didn't see that this was necessary but obviously this is part of their routine. Was then told that there was no exam room available so I was put back in the waiting room. Sat there for 25 minutes before I told the girl at the desk I had to go back to work since I was on my lunch hour. I just wasted my lunch hour getting xrays for nothing . I only gave one star because you can't give no stars. This place is a total rip off. I came in for xrays, a check up and cleaning. I changed my dental plan and they were the only available dentist in my area to accept the plan. They told me I have severe gum disease, I have infections below the gum line, need deep scaling and ongoing medication applications to prevent tooth loss. The charge was close to $2000 to do all that. They refused to do a regular cleaning. I didn't understand this because I was not having any gum problems - no bleeding, no pain, no inflammation, and have healthy teeth. I then went back to my original dentist who is not on my new plan and paid out of pocket for a second opinion. I showed him the xrays from Aspen. He told me everything Aspen said I needed was a lie. My gums were fine, I did not need a scaling and there was no infection. He cleaned my teeth with no problems. I reported Aspen to my insurance company and to the better business bureau.
