Great dentist and dental techs and hygienists. The manager and the financial service person were atrocious. We never got a clear explanation of her insurance, and the both were very antagonistic. I have really good teeth. They have really white teeth. Everyone says when I go, I have really healthy teeth. And I got to this establishment and they told me I had the worst teeth they've ever seen. They were trying to scare me. They were up charging like I've never seen assuming because I'm a college student they thought I was dumb? They were nothing but RUDE - they have been trying to get me to pay $100 for taking x-rays when they never told me it was a charge. My insurance is supposed to pay for that. Incompetent office staff I have been trying to get work done for which I already paid, for over a month. They had to order something and just never got it (they have a different reason every time). I went here for an emergency tooth pain, my face was completely swollen. The dentist did not care, he prescribed me the lowest dosage of antibiotics that did not help. I ended up going to urgent care and being treated and given the correct amount of antibiotics. I am now healed thanks to the PA in urgent care. Not the dentist that only wanted my money. read more

Absolutely THE WORST. I tried them for their later apps due to my out of town job. After explaining I can't leave work, twice they called me to come in early. I wasted gas yesterday to get there early, and waited an hour...the receptionist didn't tell me they were behind. They have a reputation double billing insurance which I had to resolve, and hen I signed up for financing, they DON'T EXPLAIN that the bill you full price for a procedure they hadn't done yet!! This review is for the Aspen Dental office in Chester, VA. We didn't even make it to our first appointments. I called to schedule hygiene appointments for myself and my two children. Appointments were booked consecutively for all three of us over a month out because they were booked. The week before the appointments I received cue via text to confirm and I did so. A screen popped up saying the appointments were successfully confirmed. A few days later I received an email stating that I must confirm the three appointments, so I confirmed them again. The day before the appointments I received a call from the office. I was on the other line with a family member and did not take the call because I did not recognize the number. They called again immediately and I again sent the call to voicemail. They then called a third time instead of leaving a message. I clicked over because I was worried that after three calls that someone must be trying to reach me for an emergency. It was Aspen Dental calling to confirm. She said that although I'd confirmed, they required a verbal call to "go over expectations." She then tells me that X-rays will be done at these appointments and that then we have to meet with the office manager to go over the treatment plan and financial expectations and that if there is time after that, they will do cleanings. Seriously!? Why would you schedule hygiene appointments and not do the hygiene?! I was told that these weren't hygiene appointments, that they were registrations appointments. I actually laughed. This practice actually thinks that I'm going to take off work and get my kids from school early so that we can "register" with the practice. Major surgery registration doesn't even take a full appointment time and this dental practice actually thinks it's necessary to waste patients' time like this in order to make sure everything is convenient for them. So incredibly unprofessional. First they mislead me by acting as though we actually have hygiene appointments booked, then they pester me to confirm multiple times, then they call and interrupt my phone call by repeatedly calling, and then they tell me that they MIGHT do a cleaning if they get around to it. Good luck to them! They're going to need it. Dentistry is not an industry in which customers participate passively. People are afraid to even go and some will stop procedures in the middle because they can't stand the anxiety it produces. And yet, this office thinks that patients would actually feel comfortable letting their dentists drill in their mouths after being treated so poorly. How out of touch can a group of professionals be from their target group of consumers?! Do better!!! I warn anyone considering this dental office to run away. Aspen Dental in Harrisonburg has been holding my daughter's x-rays of her wisdom teeth hostage while she suffers. They said they were hacked in March, and it is now June 14, and they say they cannot find them. Our insurance will not pay for a second set of x-rays. When I call, I get an automated service and then voicemail. My daughter is in pain and needs the surgery. They do not care. This is a big chain with the customer service of a corporation that could not care less about its patients. read more

I would love to give a zero star. I scheduled an emergency visit for a painful tooth. After my appointment was canceled due to staffing issues, I finally got in. The front staff were wonderful! The technician and hygienist were wonderful. The dentist, Dr. Scott, was not very thorough at all. He came in and had me bit down on something then said, "I am going to refer you to a specialist." I went ahead and scheduled a cleaning and fillings to repaired for the next week. The hygienist again was wonderful. The assistants were not professional and neither was the dentist. They were talking about their weekend, partying in school, tattoos, piercings, sneaking out of the house, boyfriends, ect... Dr. Scott was the main one asking the personal questions. I was also freaked out about how rough Dr. Scott was with the fillings. Maybe I have just had great gentle dentists in the past, but the way he did my fillings was truly a traumatic experience for me. I will not go back to this dentist, but I may continue to allow the hygienist to work on my gum health. read more

I scheduled an appointment a week in advance. The Harrisonburg, VA has the only dental specialist within the region. I drove 1 hour and 45 minutes for my appointment and when I went to the door was locked. A small sign on the door stated they were closed for some reason and had made every attempt to contact scheduled customers (That is a bold face lie - they had my 3 phone numbers and both of my email addresses) these people a shit bags and really don't care about your health...I will be sending these idiots a bill for my time of 3.5 hours of road time and 140 miles round trip. I would have given a zero star! Scott is the most unprofessional "doctor" I've ever encountered. Doesn't believe that I have pain after his root canal and crown. Doesn't fix anything, says to take pain meds. Talk about his day with the assistant during the procedure and doesn't even pay attention to me. Moreover, even if I'm on time for my procedure every time, they let me 20min to an hour later and I have to sit in a chair for another 30 mins before someone checks on me. They then cancelled that appointment and then cancelled the NEXT appointment. I am in so much pain still. When I went in, they were being yelled at for overcharging a customer. Very bad encounter, go elsewhere. I was visiting from out of town, called this place for an emergency appt for a lost filling causing painful tooth. I was first seen by a dental technician who took full mouth xrays, then examined by a dentist who said he could fix my tooth; then seen by a hygienist who talked about gum disease etc., all very nice,very professional...so far, I am lovin' life. Then I was told I would have to wait to talk to a sales manager to talk money. After waiting for half an hour I was told the sales manager was busy and that I would have to leave. I was escorted to the parking lot with my still-painful tooth and told that they would call me. All I achieved was a wasted afternoon and exposure to radiation. It is now 4 days later and I have not heard from them. They are not answering the phone. Poor customer service. This is the problem with a corporate dental business model.
