I will never go to another Aspen Dental again. I experienced severe toothache pain on my way home from South Carolina to Michigan. it is Memorial Day weekend and I needed to find someone to help me. Aspen Dental had an appointment available at 10:30 which I jumped at. this was a complete waste of my time. it took 2 1/2 hours for a couple of X-rays and a brief exam. After messing with my mouth, my pain level was so severe I left crying. The only thing the Dr. would give me for pain was ibuprofen which I cannot take as I'm on meloxicam. I have a 6 hour drive home, can't eat or sleep, and can't get an appointment at home confirked as all of the dentists I called are all closed for the holiday. anyone who has ever had a severe toothache knows the intensity of the pain. I had a root canal 3 weeks ago and had an infection there. I started an antibiotic but developed the stomach flu so I couldn't keep anything down. I went several days without taking the drug until I was able to again. I believe that because of that, the infection never cleared up completely and starting up on a holiday weekend of course. I did ask for an antibiotic which the dentist agreed to. Im 66 years old, and a cancer patient. I believed that a doctor or dentist are there to help. all I wanted was to make me comfortable until I get home. they told me to take extra strength tylenol which is exactly what I've been doing which did nothing. i wasn't asking for a specific pain drug, just something for the next few days until I can try and get into a dentist. what complicates the matter is that we just sold our home, moved out of Illinois to a cottage in Michigan while we wait to move to South Carolina next month. I need to find a new dentist in Michigan to help me but can't schedule a new patient appointment because all the dental offices I called are closed until Tuesday. I'm desperate so I called every dentist I could find around our small town. that means I have to deal with this excruciating pain for who knows how long. I can't believe the lack of compassion to let someone suffer until who knows when. on top of everything, this was a substitute dentists as the normal dentist had a family emergency. Because of that, they couldn't take any insurance which I still don't understand. They only charged me their coupon special of $29 which I appreciated. what I just went thru did nothing for me. I can't believe they would allow me to suffer for not only the ride home, but until I can get a hold of a dentist next week. Now I understand the one and a half stars for this location. Went to Florence location for extraction of a loose tooth and an exam. Given a "treatment plan" for a tooth extraction, cleaning and repair of a cracked filling and advised my copay with insurance would be $362.80, which I paid. Now after 2 cleaning sessions and a very simple tooth extraction I have been billed an additional $657.00 with no advisement or explanation. Aspen is not a member of BBB. Many nationwide complaints. I am currently disputing the upcharge. I will contact my insurance company. read more

Worst dentist office in my 5 decades on this planet. I've been in 4 times for a repair on my partial only to pick it up exactly how I left it. The guy that does the repairs is named Brandon, and since dropping mone off for repair several times, he just leaves without telling office staff if he's even coming back. I've been let down so many times in a row I would urge everyone to go anywhere else. I seriously believe the positive reviews are their own employees trying to head off the inevitable. 3 stars for the staff I actually see, zero for Brandon who continues to duck out unannounced and leaving people high and dry. This company defrauded both me and my dental insurance company by receiving payment from both of us for the same 4 items. I paid for them my first day at Aspen Dental's office on Mall Rd., Florence, KY; they subsequently included the same 4 items in a claim they submitted to Humana, also receiving payment from Humana for those items. They've been paid twice for the same 4 items. Because my insurance actually DID cover the 4 items, I've requested a refund. They have "stonewalled" both me and the BBB. I have documentation which has been submitted to Aspen Dental (twice) - it clearly details the issue. But I have yet to hear from the company regarding my refund request. This location has been my nightmare for the past two weeks. I brought my partial in for a repair because it had a crack in it for a few months, 4 days after my repair it snapped in half. After going to the office and dropping off my partial for repair, the repairman "Brandon" stepped out and never answered his messages from office staff. I've been sitting here with a broken partial for 2 weeks, even after getting an impression for repair. The guy just leaves, and according to the office staff, they don't know when he's returning. I had an important event last week, and after spending over a week lining up the opportunity for repair, I've been let down on a consistent basis. One of the most unprofessional dental offices I've to. They sat me in the chair and left, this went on for 5 months while pretending to make an upper denture. One denist was rude and demeaning, the techs unsure of themselves. The office overcharged me by over $500, I finally got almost $400 back after offering to get an attorney. The glob of bright pink matter with tiny white peg-like teeth would've even fit in my mouth. Sadly, some friends of mine went to the Florence office, and others to out of state offices, and not one of them can wear their dentures because they do not fit, and cause excessive pain. read more

This is the worst run dental office in nky. i cannot stress enough to go anywhere else than this office. my mother (85 years old) was supposed to have a tooth extracted. aspen cancelled the appointment. my mom then had a stroke on april 19th was in the hospital for 3 days and rehab for 8. she then had a filling come out of another tooth. we scheduled with aspen for that, they cancelled the consultation. then after 2mos of having this missing filling. the day before the procedure aspen cancelled again. they are horrible incompetent people. read more

In August, I went to the Florence location for help with a filling that fell out. I was told I'd need to get a crown. I also asked for a cleaning and decided to get whitening and Invisalign. Before anything was started, I sat with Courtney who set up the billing and put everything on a finance plan. I was sent to an external provider for a root canal prior to the crown. Once my tooth was shaped and full mouth scanned for the crown, I was fitted with a temporary crown. The person fitting me with the temporary crown rushed me through the process. I couldn't comfortably close my mouth all the way which meant I wouldn't be able to chew easily. She stated it wasn't going to feel perfect because it was just chair science. I went with her chair science and let it be since it was only meant to be temporary. I was told the permanent crown would be ready within 5 weeks. I scheduled appointments for the whitening and the crown on back to back days in November. Then I went home. Two days later, the temporary crown fell out. The next day, a Friday, I called 15 times to try to be seen to have it placed back in. I found out from Lucas the assistant office manager that because he was the only person in the front office, he turned the phones off. I called Monday, finally reached a person, and was asked to come at the end of the day Tuesday. The week of the back to back appointments for the whitening and to place the crown. I was called and told the office did not have the products needed to do the whitening so I would need to reschedule. The next day, 5 minutes before the office closed, Lucas called to inform me the lab never received the scan of my mouth to make the permanent crown so a new scan would need to be made. I returned during the appointment time meant to place the permanent to have a new scan made. Since the last 8 hours I had available to take off from work for the year were used to make the appointments for the whitening and the crown, I would have to wait until January for both still with a temporary crown I had no faith in. New appointment date for all remaining procedures was scheduled. Since the crown needed to be placed before the Invisalign could be started, I would also have my mouth scanned again. They started with the whitening procedure. Once that was done, I was sent back out to the waiting area until the dentist was ready with crown. Before I saw the dentist, Lucas called me back and told me that when Courtney set up the billing and financing in August, she left off billing codes totalling more than $1,700.00 that still needed to be paid in order to do the Invisalign. I shared my frustration with Lucas when the second scan was done, letting him know I would go elsewhere if anything else went wrong. But when he said I still owed $1,700.00 because Courtney didn't do her job, I was just exhausted and wanted to get the day over with. I worked with him to get everything started then finally saw the dentist to have the crown placed and scanned for the Invisalign. After two days, I reconsidered the decision to do the Invisalign and called to cancel it. I spoke with Lucas who said he would cancel everything and refund it to the financing account and insurance. I called at the end of the week to make sure the refund was processed. I reached a woman who, upon looking at my account, could make no determination a refund had been initiated then passed me to Nathan the head office manager. I demanded the Invisalign be cancelled and all charges reversed. He said he'd put in a ticket. I had to return to the office to be fitted for trays to complete the whitening process at home. Because of the crown, I had to wait a couple weeks. Finally deciding I would have no further dental care at this office, I took the opportunity to request my dental records. I spoke with Asia who only gave me my billing information and a single xray. I said the billing information would not suffice; I needed a history of what had been done so my new dentist would know what was done; she insisted it was all they could provide. Good thing I got the records though because I was charged $135 for an electric toothbrush I did not take from the office because I already had one. After this, I called both my insurance company and Aspen Dental's corporate offices to complain. Once I detailed everything that happened to the Aspen Dental representative, she only confirmed the refunds had been processed and have more detailed records sent to me. Asia called me herself and said "We received notification that you requested your dental records but received something else, is that correct?" Yes, Asia. Thanks for violating my HIPPA rights. I cannot overstate how frustrating, disappointing, neglectful, and irresponsible the staff at this location is. If you love paying money to be treated like garbage, this is the place to go. I went in this place to get a quote for a bridge, I had a tooth that had broken off at the gum line and I had it extracted.At another dental office. The hygienist at Aspen Dental told me I had gingivitis, 6 cavities and needed a deep cleaning at which point I was talked into a care credit card. This plan was gonna be $5000 and that didn't include the bridge. I went in the following day to speak to the office manager about what was going on and told her that I didn't want to follow that treatment plan.It was too expensive and unnecessary and she refused to cancel The future appointments and they still wanted to charge me for them. The document actually says only the doctor can cancel appointments , he is not my father. She got very nasty and mean that I had the audacity to ask questions. Anyway, I ended up getting 6 fillings. I didn't need.They destroyed two teeth to put the bridge on and now I have eight teeth that hurt. My insurance company keeps denying claims because they can't get the office to explain exactly what treatments they performed on me they just keep filing claim after claim I think we are up to 8 claims for the same things some of the claims were paid for on the care credit card? They keep sending me bills that do not reflect the money I've already paid them, The credit card was supposed to be interest free. After having a root canal in my hometown while on the road my temporary cap came off, calling the main calling center for this outfit I was told to walk in and there should be no problem with this Aspen Dental Business. When I walked in and explained my situation to the young woman named Bree (as in stinky cheese, ya ya that cheese is not really stinky but attitude was. cold as a February day in Chicago. No empathy at all, was told I'd have to get a dental exam and after that there was no guarantee they could stick some glue on my cap to stick back onto my tooth. Back at home I'm in the throws of dental work , I just needed some glue and instead I got a healthy dose of nothing no emotion no nothing. You may need to look into retraining staff in the art of customer service, or Bree needs to be retrained since the other young lady just stood there no words ‍‍‍ No other suggestions. So I call to see why they haven't called me to reschedule. No word of apology. No sympathy. And they say the earliest they can see me is in 3 weeks. Omg! Mall RD Florence, KY is terrible. I scheduled an appt as a new patient for 11am. Had 2 emails with my appt time of 11am. A phone call a few days prior to my appt, for info intake, and that person reconfirmed my 11am appt, stating to arrive 15 minutes early. I arrived at 1043, and when I signed in, I wad told my appt slot was half way over, and I needed to reschedule! No explanation was given. I showed the front desk person both emails with my 11am appt time, and she didn't care. Told me I needed to reschedule. Went in for a cleaning and X-rays at 9:28. Appt was at 9:30. Had a another dr appt at 10:40. Thought I could make it-told tech and she got me cleaned in record time and ask for the doc to come in ASAP! She would even stop cleaning to allow doc to look. Done at 10:37. ( ok might make it). I've been going to Aspen for my 6 month cleanings for the past 3 years. They do my screening X-rays and check with me about any extra services that I may want (like fluoride or advanced oral cancer screenings). I can't speak for all Aspen Dental Offices...only the one on Mall Road in Florence, Kentucky. I tried this office out because my work changed insurance carriers, and my old dentist didn't take this new insurance. My initial visit wasn't bad or good. I had a cleaning, and they replaced one of my old fillings. I then scheduled a cleaning for my son and I. My appointment was scheduled for May 24th at 6 pm. I was excited because I didn't have to take off work to go to the Dentist. I received a call, I am guessing, sometime in April stating that they changed their late day from Tuesday to Thursday, so my appointment was moved from May 24th to May 26th at 6 pm...no big deal! I received a call on the morning of May 26th stating that the Dental Hygienist was out sick, and they would need to reschedule. I still didn't want to take off work, so I rescheduled for June 30th. On the week of June 30th, I received another call stating that the Dental Hygienist had been promoted, and they didn't have a replacement. I rescheduled for August 11th for my son and I. Today, it is August 8th, and I just received a call stating they need to reschedule my August 11th appointment. I don't know why, and at this point, I don't care. I am three money past when my 6 month cleaning was supposed to be. I believe one of two things is happening. It is either: 1. This is a poorly run office with scheduling problems...in which they need to replace the management. or 2. They are bumping my son and I for higher priority patients for which they receive more money. Either way, I am not a valued customer to them. I am going to take the time off of work, go back to my old dentist, pay the extra money, and be treated the way a customer should be treated. They hire fresh out of school dentist who are looking for a year or two of experience and then to move on and the quality of work is a reflection of their lack of experience. These places are CORPORATE dental offices and are only concerned with production numbers and not the patients best interest, because the person who diagnosis's you may not even treat you or even be there a year later when it eventually goes wrong. I had a tooth pulled and bridge made here. It went terribly wrong and then when I came back the dentist who did it had already left for a private practice office and no longer worked for this company. So I eventually went to another office my parents go to and it was fixed and they said the original bridge was down wrong and I should go back and get my money back. read more

One of the worst experiences of my life. I was told by my regular dentist, who doesn't do extractions, that I indeed needed an extraction. I told Aspen that. I only wanted to know what it cost either with an IV or a local. I was then examined for periodontal disease and told I had a real problem and that would cost a lot. (My dentist 7 days ago never mentioned this.) I was also told that the tooth my regular dentist told me could not be saved was savable with a root canal and a crown. When I questioned this I was told "Well, everyone has an opinion." I kept trying to get the topic back to an extraction but was ignored. I finally got up from the examination chair and left. Which I have never done before . Terrible place and I will NEVER go back. Also when you try to put a negative comment on their web site it does NOT get posted. Gee, I wonder why. My last two visits to Aspen Dental have been terrible! They seemed to have replaced all of the nice, experienced employees with rude, inexperienced ones. The hygienist, when they have one, made my entire mouth bleed severely during my regular hygiene visit and was not friendly. My most recent visit consisted of the dentist shooting numbing solution down my chin and throat and blaming his mistakes on me. I also got water squirted all over my face and down the back of my neck by the hygienist, who did not try to clean it up. I am not satisfied one bit with the service I have received, and I have noticed while sitting in the waiting room that others are not pleased either. The only decent thing about this place is being able to watch a show while you're getting your teeth worked on. I will most likely be looking for a new place to go. read more
