A complete waste of time. I contacted them because of split tooth causing constant pain. They advertise no waiting, get relief !! They performed about 30 minutes of other testing telling me all the work my mouth needs. Glanced at my tooth and told me to make an appointment to have it pulled. Never in my life have a I felt that bad leaving a medical office. The dental hygienist I had today was rude and condescending to me and treating me like I'm dumb. She needs to learn basic bedside manner when working with patients. Not only that but while I was there she was rude to her coworkers yelling between rooms that she's "not a mind reader" when someone messed up and apologized. Everyone has bad days but when you are working with patients that is extremely unprofessional to take it out on them. I would not recommend anyone to go here. read more

I went for a periodontal maintenance cleaning. I refused add on services of antibiotics and fluoride so the hygienist refused to clean my teeth. Nobody will twist my arm to buy optional drugs. You will clean my teeth on my terms. read more

Make sure you know the full cost before you sign anything. I got bottom dentures had to pull 4 teeth. Took me 6 months to get them and 2 years later I still can't eat with them I've bought every denture cream out there and nothing works. Now 2 years later they decided they needed 250.00 more and I've never been back since. Tried talking to Aspen Billing I get someone doesn't speak English could not explain why I owed 250.00 after 2 years JUST PAY IT. I called my insurance co. they told me Aspen was the hardest dentist to work with doesn't matter where you are. She told me they made a payment and told me don't let them tell me what they didn't get the check because it's an automatic deposit. So I gave it a week or so and here we are still coming for 250.00. I made the mistake of referring my employee to Aspen same place I went she's not rich we all live check to check, they rack her up a bill for close to 5000.00 she had to get personal loans and dental loan to pay for it. Now they want to charge her another 500.00 for something else and she can't get her new teeth till she pays the 500.00 WHY wasn't this included when she had to jump through hoops to get the money the first time. I think they are a rip off I will never go back. ALL Aspen cares about us money and that's it. Once they were done with me never heard from them again until they wanted another 250.00 and can't tell me why. Also they are really nice when there getting you signed up for these loans , but you get a whole new attitude when they want more money. Then they constantly change your appointment times and dates to fit their needs. Nothing about this place cares about you ,Find somewhere else to go. Stay away from this place. They perform procedures that are not requested and do so without advising the customer. After a general cleaning I was in pain for days since they did more than that then charged over $1200 and said I agreed to it. No one explained what they were doing other than the general cleaning I had originally requested. This office over bills the insurance company and the patients. I can certainly relate to the bad reviews I just read, as I've had nothing but problems with Aspen Dental at Alcoa! I don't have very many choices who to go to because I am insured through the State of Tennessee's contract with Cigna (for state employees and retirees) and they have a contract with Aspen as a provider. The Cigna contract with its providers has a fee schedule and that is the price we are to pay. They tried to charge me more in the office and I had to show them the fee schedule to prove what I was supposed to pay. I paid cash for that amount. Some time later, I got a bill from Aspen for the extra amount the office had tried to charge me! I had to file a complaint with the State and Cigna! After that, I had 3 teeth filled and the fillings kept coming out. I had one tooth refilled 3 times in the first few weeks, and I gave up after it came out the third time. A few months after that, the fillings in the other 2 teeth came out also! Now, here we go again! I have had 12 cancers on my face from accumulated radiation of more dental x-rays over the years than I could ever count! When I went the first time, I thought they would NEVER stop with the x-rays! More than I have ever had at one time from any dentist in my life!!! SURE ENOUGH, WITHIN 6 MONTHS, I WAS HAVING CANCER SURGERY ON MY FACE AGAIN! I called yesterday and told them I needed a cleaning only, and that I could NOT have any more routine x-rays because of my cancers! They REFUSED to make me an appointment for a cleaning unless I am bombed with more needless radiation! They didn't give a crap that I have had 12 cancers on my face! DO I NOT HAVE A RIGHT TO A SERVICE I PAY INSURANCE FOR, WITHOUT THEM DICTATING WHAT IS DONE TO MY BODY??? I have filed a complaint with the BBB for them refusing to make me an appointment for a cleaning only. I will also file a complaint with Cigna and the State. read more

One must watch very carefully the billing practices of this office. They make you pay upfront and charge you the fees again for exam and stays on next visit. They advertise fee for exam and stays at $19.00 and then charge $135.00. Also while waiting, I heard them giving another customer a hard time because she wanted her stays so she could go elsewhere. read more

I had a confirmed appointment for 10 am dec 2 2021 to have a tooth extracted. when i pull into the parking lot at 9:48 am i receive a text saying we are excited to see you again you have an appointment at 10:30. All correspondence says my appointment is at 10:00 including email and appointment card. so i go into office and speak to front desk clerk who informs me that i am incorrect that my appointment is 10:30. no it is not, they just needed to change mine to fit their incompetence in scheduling appointments. Now this is not your private practice dentist office. It is a corporate operation focused on upselling dental work rather than on preserving teeth. anyway it went from bad to worse. they told me so many different stories none of which were creditable. everyone had a reason for the gaff. The regional manager, who in correctly referred to the dentist as a physician, said it was due to oral surgery that went bad. this dentist is not an oral surgeon. then dentist says will get her assistant and be right back to pull tooth. Lie. she went and worked on another patient. The positive that came from this is she did get my tooth pulled. she did a good job. however i am on blood thinners and she did not pact the tooth. who knows maybe they don't do that anymore but here it is 1:30 and am still bleeding. Will I go back? maybe since my insurance pays for it. I hate this idea of insurance dictating who you see. but that's another topic. . read more

The whole place is a scam/rip off. If you bother to ask questions they can't answer or get offended you asked. I asked how Invisalign is better or different than Candid and they couldn't say, just that my teeth would fall out if I got the other stuff. I went in for a cleaning and walked away with a $15,000 treatment plan and still needing a cleaning. I called my insurance company to find out why there were so many discrepancies and in the billing and coverage and they informed me of the complaints and said they often bill for more than what is needed or asked for and it's wise to always get a second opinion, of course there aren't any other offices here so I'm still screwed... I'm sure the dentists are very talented in what they do know, just make sure to do your homework before taking out a second mortgage to pay for unnecessary work. read more

The first visit there was great. Everyone was really nice and helpful. I was told by the office manager (who was really nice) that I should get a dental discount instead of insurance. I immediately researched my options and found one I liked, so I called her to make sure the office was a participant in the program. She said they definitely were, so I paid the $160 for the plan. When I went in for my next appointment, I informed the girl at the front desk that I was now enrolled in the discount program and presented her with my card. She told me they weren't accepting new patients with the program, and I informed her that the office manager told me differently. She then says "I'll have to call and verify you in the system." Guess what. I couldn't be verified, even though I had the card with my account number that stated my policy was active. They ask me if I'd like to pay out of pocket for my cleaning, and I say I'd like to call the company and find out what's going on. I'm told they'll have to reschedule me (so they won't have to stay late into their lunch break). I ask why they cant wait 5 minutes for me to make a phone call when I just waited 10 minutes for them to. She says "we have something available Thursday." I told them not to bother. The dentist behind the counter quietly tells the girl at the front desk that she's better at dealing with "people like that" than he is. I called cigna and they verified my account before I even told them my name. I informed the staff and they said they'd look into it and call me. Haven't heard back in 27 hours. I came to get a painful tooth extracted, just to end up staying for 2 hours (missing work) and leaving with absolutely nothing done, and being told I needed $6000 of work done BEFORE they could extract my tooth. (Cavities and early stages of gingivitis.. how does that affect a tooth extraction??) My X-rays were extremely painful and I had to bite down on a metal rod at least 50 times, not to mention one of the unprofessional technicians told me I had a mouth the size of a child's, and that's why it was taking so long. A good technician should be able to take X-rays without causing pain to the patient, child or adult. read more

I get my teeth cleaned every 6-9 months with nothing but an occasional cavity and the Hygienist never has to scale much plaque. Aspen told me I needed a deep cleaning/scaling and antibiotic treatments. Their proposed treatment started at $1200 then I got it down to $590. I didn't trust their diagnosis because 8 months earlier my teeth were fine so I went to another dentist who did xrays again and an exam ended up with a regular cleaning and said my teeth were in good shape. I scheduled what I thought would be a new patient exam and cleaning. Very thorough exam with more X-Rays than I've ever had taken in my entire adult life. No dental problems and was then told I could schedule my cleaning, never had to do 2 separate appointments but no big deal. Came back for my cleaning and was told I had a $50 copayment. Knew that didn't seem right and said so to the receptionist. She said that is what it said when they ran my insurance. Again I said that doesn't make sense (she just looked at me like I was crazy.). So when I called my insurance, they said I have a $10 copay. They charged me $40 for the fluoride rinse (not covered under preventive services). Really? Never explained upfront and said it was my copay. When I spoke to the office manager she was nice but acted like they always explain their charges upfront and said it was OK we will take it out of your file so you won't be charged next time. I just don't trust that they are not going to try and hustle me again. read more
