I just returned from a 7 night stay at The Ritz Kapalua in Maui. I had looked online for rates and promotions at this property for several weeks. I came across AskAboutTravel.com and submitted an online request. I was a bit leery as I had never done anything like this and wondered I would be better off doing it on my own. I recieved an email and follow up call within one day. I was quoted an amazing deal at the property which included breakfast for two and they even got my room upgraded for me...not to mention a resort credit. Better than anything I had found. The property was everything a Ritz property is known for. Our room was lovely and the kids all had a great time. I thought the property was very diverse as there were many honeymoon couples but a great area for younger kids set off from the main pool. You cannot beat the beaches in that area either. Prices are not cheap over there...$15 for a drink in the bar. The $100 resort credit helped a lot. It took us an hour to get to the property. We had rented a car through AskAboutTravel.com and when we arrived at the airport they even upgraded our economy to a full size mini van. We needed the room as we stopped at the local store first. There is a lot of walking to do and can be a challenge if you are not in shape. I would go back to The Ritz and book through AskAboutTravel.com again. I worked with an agent Sandy as well. AskAboutTravel helped my husband and I coordinate our honeymoon to St. Lucia and we were very pleased with the trip and their services. We spent twelve days on the island. For the first half, we stayed at a resort and the remainder of the trip we coordinated our own travel arrangements. Our point of contact was Sandy, who we found to be very responsive and helpful. We were impressed with her efforts to assist us while we were in St. Lucia when we were looking for places to volunteer and other accomodations when we traveled outside the resort. She got back to us right away and offered several suggestions. Our trip to St. Lucia was one of the best trips that we've ever had. The resort was perfect, as the staff was gracious, the accomodations were great, and the views were spectacular. We would definitely use them again! read more

After some initial hiccups, Mike stepped in and really stepped up to ensure our vacation and accomodations were great in Maui. He REALLY did a great job with all of the details and got us a very nice upgrade at our final destination, Aston Kaanapali Shores. I would definitely use Ask About Travel's services again. read more

Ask about travel is awesome. Mike is absolutely amazing. My wife and i went to hawaii last year and mike was so kind and always right on top of everything. He definitely took care of us and went above and beyond to make our trip planning stress free and make our vacation the most amazing vacation we have ever had. The customer service with this agency is amazing and we were blown away. Since then we refuse to talk to anyone else! We are currently planning another vacation with the help of mike and ask about. Seriously, if you want to have an amazing vacation and find a travel agency who is willing to go above and beyond with amazing customer service look no more. I'm going to try to make this short, but my experience was truly unbelievable. I filled out an info sheet on AskAboutTravel.com (owned by San Diego Travel Group) for a quote for a trip to Hawaii because the website advertised free car rentals with a Hawaii booking. I then spoke with Felicia, who insisted on looking up quotes while I wait on the phone instead of having them ready before calling me, or emailing me. In any case, about two minutes after I asked for 2 rooms at a condo resort, she quoted me a price with ONE room at a hotel, which was way more expensive than Pleasant Hawaiian's quote for the proper resort type and TWO rooms. I told her so, and she became argumentative and insisted on contacting PH directly to confirm. She did, and although the price had gone up a tad, it was still way less than her quote (mind you, her quote was also for only ONE room and PH's was for two). I said unless they could match it made sense to use PH, and she insisted that the PH offer couldn't be booked (huh?) and then got upset and told me I was calling her a liar, etc., and then hung up on me. It was VERY strange, but I assumed that would be the end of it. Nope. Next, I get an email from Felicia stating that she could not match the price of my "invalid quote." This is even after she confirmed that the price she looked up on PH was less than her quote. I responded asking her why she was emailing me at all when she had just hung up on me. I also pointed out that the car rental in her quote was not free, as had been advertised. She responded saying, "I have made the right decision. I do not wish to work with you." LOL!! Again, I thought this was the end. Nope. The worst was yet to come. Next, the HR manager at my work comes into my office and says there was a call from someone at a travel agency (the caller ID identified it as coming from Felicia's office) stating that she wanted to make a complaint because she had worked with me on a case and that I was horrible, rude, had lied to her, etc. I assume when I called from my office phone to speak with her that morning she saw the caller ID. So, I had to explain to the HR rep that it was this weird travel agent, who apparently was a lunatic. Obviously I was pissed at this point, so I called the corporate office and spoke to a Vice President about what happened. He "looked into it," then called me back and said, oh, I'm sorry, we think Felicia is bipolar. He also said she'd done something like this before. He claimed this "is not how we do business" and said I should just call back and ask for another agent. Ha!! Clearly this IS how they do business if they knowingly employ a crazy maniac. I recommend NOT using San Diego Travel Group or http://Askabouttravel.com. The end. I hope. PS - the corp guy also insisted that I NOT post this on yelp, but I would be remiss if I didn't forewarn the general public!! read more

"Underwhelming" was my experience with Ask About Travel. I usually do my own travel arrangements but this time, since our trip was going to be a bit more complicated (a cruise with extended stays on either end needing hotels and international airfare) I thought we might be better served by having an "expert" assist us in our plans and arrangements. I guess I was expecting too much because in the end I found all the items...I found the airfare, told Mike H. and he booked it at the fare I found. I contacted and sent in forms to the cruise line with him mentioned as our agent contact. We found our own hotels in both needed locations and book it ourselves. The only thing different I experienced in the entire process the added time and stress communicating everything with Mike so he was in the loop. I often knew about changes in our itinerary and changes in fares and rates before he did and I was the one informing him, not him informing me. There was no value added for us to deal with Ask About Travel, in fact it was more work not less. I don't know if this would have been the same if I had used a different agency or not. Maybe the lesson is that i can probably do better on my own than consulting an "expert." read more
