After enjoying a day at the Christmas Markets eating fried potato cakes, French fries with mayo,…read moreand mulled wine, I craved something fresh and healthier for dinner, like sushi! Chao Asian Food and Sushi easily satisfied my craving. My wife, daughter, and I enjoyed maki rolls, tempura shrimp, and a shared sushi platter. I love temaki rolls, think of seaweed shaped into a cone, filled with rice, fish, cucumber, etc... Chao's version included avocado, which added a creamy texture and flavor, to accompany the fresh salmon. Plus, I requested that mine be prepared spicy, which they were happy to do. It was SO good, between the three of us, we pursed 1 normal and 3 spicy :-) This friendly restaurant is located very close to the cathedral and to the Ludwig museum. You'll find it overlooking the Rheine. I recommend making a visit to Chao to satisfy your sushi cravings.

The tuna sashimi looked almost Toro style. But, it tasted more like Maguro for the price of Otoro. Same for the roll I had. I couldn't really tell by taste what was inside, except for the avocado. I have to admit that my expectations were high due my previous experience with (wasn't it Madame ChiChi?). At the end the food isn't bad or rotten. However, the sushi's quality and taste doesn't match the appearance and pricing.

I found a clean, modern restaurant with an easy to understand menu (please keep in mind I do not speak German). I ordered the Ente Thaiart (Duck Thai Art) and it was prepared freshly. The flavors were excellent, not too salty. The duck meat was succulent and not overcooked. I thought this was a great deal given the price (approximately 7 euros). I would enthusiastically recommend this place for any English speakers walking in the area.
