The club announcements are in dutch. Even if your dutch is in progress (like mine) it can be unnerving to be left behind in fitness instruction. The equipment is good and the setup is good as well. Be prepared to be in the background of either locational/promotional filming of fitness bloggers, and other events that regularly take place.

Then, I came across Alison's ad, hired her and have been working out with her since April of 2014. Since I had an old ankle injury, she designed a program just for me with this in mind until we could build up the strength in that ankle. Now I can do things I never could after my ankle injury 7 years ago! If that weren't enough, she helped me lose 10 kg. in just 4 months AND she makes exercising fun and although I've been athletic my whole life, I never enjoyed working out until now. They have a cafe/juice bar, saunas next to the locker rooms, lockers, communal showers in the the locker rooms, two separate areas for dance, yoga, pilates, martial arts, spinning classes etc. I pay about €50 a month for unlimited access without time restrictions. It's a bit pricey, but I like this gym. I paid €25 for registration, but it wasn't just to put my picture in the system with my data, I also got a 2 hour session with one of the competent, knowledgable and friendly trainers who made a fitness plan with me and printed it out. They keep the plan there so you can pick it up when you arrive and never forget to take it with you. They use an electronic scanning system for access to the gym which is a thumb-sized keychain with a chip in it. The trainers and employees are very nice and professional and the clientele is decent. All in all, it's a bit pricey but worth it.

It took me awhile to figure out what brands and items would work for my outdoor adventure needs. I was on a mission to buy a few things. For one, I desperately needed a backpack that could house more than just water. I already have a Camelback, but needed something bigger. I looked around a bit as they have quite a selection of backbacks. Finally, I decided on an Osprey that also had a lining that was compatible with a Camelback water reservoir. OK, that mission is now complete. Next, I needed a Swiss Army-like tool. They have many many different types of Swiss Army knives, and also a few Leatherman tools. In addition, they also carry Gerber tools. A friend told me about this brand and he liked the way it worked, so I decided to have a look at these. Unfortunately, the salesman knew nothing about Gerber tools, so I was sort of on my own in the decision-making here. I settled on the Gerber Crucial Multi-Tool, which has a wire cutter, pliers, beer opener (extremely important), flathead and Phillips screwdriver, and liner lock knife. It also have a belt clip, so easy to just hook on. I also like the green colour of the tool and it is very lightweight. Pretty good tool, but I wish it had some scissors. Overall, this store was great for all my outdoor needs. You can pretty much get anything here before heading into the jungles of Africa (just kidding). The only weird thing was when I went to pay and used my credit card, they asked to see my passport and also wrote down my passport info. A bit odd, I think Holland needs to get up to speed with the credit/debit system in general, but otherwise a great store.
