They have an app and you can do it yourself on the app. Recently the touring Storycorps airstream came to Buffalo for a month or so. I immediately secured one of the interview spots for two family members. Neither born American, one has lived here for over 50 years - having done graduate studies here. The other visiting from South America. They went through the process and it was great. Well organized and very comfortable. This is a terrific project.

Line wasn't painful. No food, drinks or bags. There is a coffee shop next to the line up area. Hint - think about what you wear to show up. If you dress like a bag of donuts your going to be hidden in the back row. If you want to get on TV, and your in a group.. all wear same outfit. Makes you move to front of line. E.g. group was on family vacation and had T-shirts made, yep, front of line express. Take a look to see who is going to be on the broadcast so you have an idea of who is passing you in hallway and getting out of the car service. Good hosts at a GMA. Entire cast was friendly and went out of way to thank people for attending and watching show. I wish it would have had Oprah, might have gotten a new car rather than the book an author was giving away. All in alll - it's an NYC bucket list- plenty of shows to watch live, just got to plan ahead and go with flow.

I signed up to be one of the people in the crowd of the GMA audience during a fall trip to the Big Apple. Attendees have to be in line by about 6 in the morning, and for my taping, they didn't let us into the studios till about a little after 8. Once you get into the studios, they spread you around and if you want any shot of being on camera, you have to try nudge your way to the front or bring a big colorful sign to wave frantically in the air. Sadly, I failed on both these attempts so the most that could be made of me on TV was that person whose top of the head would peek out between a sea of people every once in awhile. There goes my attempt at my 15 minutes of fame. Shucks. The whole taping process is pretty interesting. You don't actually get to see the full taping. For certain parts of the show, like the weather segment, one of the cast will come down and do their bit. At most, it was about 5 minutes for each segment. The cast was very friendly though and when the tapings would break, they would come and say hello to the crowd and take pictures. For my particular taping, there was a peformance by Kenny Chesney. I'm not a big fan of country music, so it wasn't as entertaining for me. But he played a few songs for the crowd which is pretty cool. By 9AM, everything sort of wraps up and you are on your merry way to enjoy the rest of your day. Remember to TIVO or DVR the episode so that you can watch to see if you made it on camera. First, Suave or any bargain Conditioner, is an excellent low cost dry hair volumizer for men. Second, dry your razor blades after each use and they last four times as long. Oh and there's an unspoken third -- never joke about Patty Hearst (or "government cheese") on a crowded elevator -- or for that matter, proclaim the greatness of the thinly veiled William Randolph Hearst biopic, Citizen Kane around the water cooler. Considering that they publish Cosmo, Esquire and shovel out a metric ton of bad reality programming on A+E and the Lifetime Network, they can be remarkably uptight about such things. BTW, they also publish some very fine magazines. And for you kids reading this, Google "magazines", Patty Hearst and "government cheese."

Around August 1998, several of my former business associates met with him at my former office located at 145 West 45th Street in New York City. During that meeting, we exchanged ideas about the future of the music industry and discussed strategies for introducing independent record labels to the emerging process of converting vinyl recordings into what would later become widely known as MP3 digital files. The conversation was groundbreaking for its time, and Mr. Williams was open-minded enough to offer us the opportunity to help spearhead a dance music channel on the Click Radio software platform called "Play DJ." That experience made me realize I needed to deepen my understanding of startup development and venture growth. Shortly afterward, my former business colleague Reggie Laroach and I enrolled in a nine-week continuing studies course at Stanford University titled "Bus 16: Startups - From Idea to IPO". The experience became a defining moment in my entrepreneurial journey. You can read more about that chapter of my life here: [Byron Burke at Stanford: Hustle, Survival & Startup Vision](https://rudetymz.com/news/f/byron-burke-at-stanford-hustle-survival-startup-vision) Click Radio helped pave the way for major record companies to begin converting their music catalogs into digital formats, contributing to a major shift in how music would eventually be distributed worldwide. It was inspiring to witness a young Black entrepreneur take a visionary idea and successfully raise more than $40 million to bring that vision to life. At the same time, it was difficult to later witness that dream unravel due to corporate politics, greed, and the absence of a strong support structure focused on protecting his long-term interests.
