The store is also filled with a large selection of spices and foods from Korea and some selected items from the other Asian countries. Prices are great! I bought and paid: EUR 0.95 for 500 g bag of popcorn EUR 1.00 for 330 ml cold can of Coke Zero EUR 1.10 for 400 g bag of tapioca flour EUR 1.40 for 300 g bag of azuki Japanese red beans EUR 2.55 for 500 g bag of sticky rice (from Thailand) EUR 3.20 for 40 (12.5 g) pieces of nori flavored seaweed paper EUR 3.35 for box of 20 umeboshi Japanese pickled plums from China EUR 5.65 for 12 g Sakura Japanese cherry blossom tea EUR 6.50 for 200 g jar of umeboshi Japanese pickled plums from Japan I wish I had found shiro ume-su, the vinegary, salty juice leftover from the process of making umeboshi. Buying umeboshi and draining the juice from it was a good enough alternative. I looked for Sakura extract. I didn't really expect to find it, since it seems to still be only sold in Japan. The owner helped me look for Japanese sticky rice, which is supposed to be smaller and rounder than the version I bought from Thailand. She said they must be sold out at the moment. The Sakura tea is extremely rare and was a nice find. I got the last box, by the way. All in all, I had a great experience. I browsed for a long time without employees acting nervous and when I needed help, they were calm and friendly. I'm definitely coming back.

I will not return to this store…read more Conveniently located just outside and across the street from the Karstadt at the Wandsbeker Quaree, Asia Mekong offers exotic fresh produce and other food products from the Far East to the shoppers of east Hamburg. In front of the store is a dedicated, customer-only parking lot fitting up to three cars. Selection of fresh produce from Vietnam is very good. Large selection of other products from Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Phillipines, etc. Frozen section includes fish, eel, shrimp, and prepared foods like spring rolls and red bean dim sum. Prices are fair. Workers are very attentive, constantly asking if you need help. Had I not had a bad experience there yesterday, I would have given this place four stars. The store owners approached me as I was taking notes on my iPhone and accused me of writing down prices. They complained I spent too much time in the store last week. I'm not quite sure what they were afraid of. Both times I spent money purchasing items. I was only making notes in preparation for writing my first review on Qype. Being accused of doing something malicious offended me, especially since I was absolutely innocent. For this reason, I must give this store only one star. I will never be able to return without feeling the staff are suspiciously staring at me and watching me like a criminal.
