That said, this place is great and for me matched what others rave about with Codung in Nürnberg. The prices were reasonable and the fish tasted fresh. We were very pleased!! As with restaurants in Germany, the service wasn't spectacular. Our initial interactions were great. Not too long to order and wait for food. But after food was served it was a ghost town for service. Even the dessert took 20 min. I would say it was busy and that's why, but it was Saturday night and nothing outrageous. We're not sure what happened. Our waiter was very friendly though, so that counts. As far as food details go, my husband and I shared one of the meals for 2, and were satisfied with the quantity, taste, and price. We started with the gyoza, which were standard, but tasty. Our sushi for two consisted various rolls on a boat, and we each got their chicken miso-type soup as well. Also very good! Everyone at the table ate every morsel of their food- I guess we enjoyed it! :) Definitely try this place out if you're looking for a good sushi fix. I can't wait to go back and try their ramen, and other sushi options.

I've passed this place so many times and I didn't know there was a restaurant here. During lunch time you can choose food from the buffet. And the buffet is to not disappoint. There's a large array of different foods. They were so good I forgot to take pictures, even though I went up to grab food three times! They serve a few different types of sushi during the buffet but the sushi belt was not open, I want to assume it's only during dinner that they offer that. Cannot go wrong with prices either. We paid 24€ for my husband and I. 8€ a piece to eat and the rest was all drinks. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

The big standout on this place is that it has plenty of room, not like a majority of places I have gone to in Erlangen. I am sure this space is needed during the lunch time crowd. Hiro Sakao concentrates on Japanese and sushi dishes on their menu. In fact, their sushi menu is quite extensive. I decided on the Gyoza dumplings to start out with and the Ochi sushi roll for the main dish. I found both of them ok, nothing that I would rate as outstanding but definitely ok. It hit the spot for lunch. I found that after the order was taken, it was hard to get service to come back and attend to us. We had a particulary frustating time trying to secure our bill and get back on our way at the end. On top of that, if running your meal on a credit card, it seems a very slow process here as well, just to let you know (my colleague had a frustrating time with getting the transaction complete). Bottom line: An A-OK lunch spot, not outstanding but not bad either. There are a few speed bumps with service and getting transactions completed in timely manner but it serves the purpose for getting a lunchtime sushi fix.

Food has always seemed mediocre to me (too much…read moresugar, too much salt, not the highest quality in the world for my taste), but it was basically okay, the staff were nice, the mood is good, and the location is very convenient. Today, though, I ordered an udon soup for lunch, which was simply too salty and sweet to even eat. I was very hungry, but still couldn't manage more than 2 or 3 bites. I have almost never returned food in a restaurant in my life! But this time I mentioned something to the waiter and asked if I could have something else instead. He said that I could if I paid for both the uneaten dish and the new one. I didn't want to pay twice so had nothing else and let him take the inedible (to me) soup away uneaten. So today, over a 9 Euro bowl of Udon, this restaurant has lost all our future business. We paid 30 Euros for my husband's sushi, my uneaten soup, and some water, and will never return. This is a type of customer service approach that I simply do not understand.

Very satisfied overall and the presentation was well done with some added "smoke" for a more dramatic entry. The waitress even added additional so I could get a better photo. I will be returning.

We reluctantly settled to dine at the Original China Town restaurant. I must admit the last thing I wanted to eat in Germany was Chinese food. We walked in fifteen minutes prior to closing, but we were greeted warmly. We sat down glanced at the menu and ordered our dishes. The food was unbelievable! Most definitely the best meal we had during our visit. Who would have thought? We order sizzling beef, bami goreng, and crispy duck. Every thing was cooked perfectly. The duck was probably the best duck I've ever eaten, crispy skin and juicy on the inside. I wish I would have taken pictures of the food. Even though by the end our meal it was well past closing time the server came to our table with complementary plum wine to finish off a delightful dinning experience. Should you have the opportunity, please treat yourself to a delicious meal at The Original China Town Restaurant.
