Nando's - 1/4 Chicken Breast (Medium Spice) with Spicy Rice and Peri-Salted Chips

Nando's at The Vaults in Bolton is located on the lower floor of Market Place Shopping Centre, I…read morereally like this area of the mall, despite being several years old, it still feels new/modern, especially with the exposed bricks. This Nando's location is pretty much your average Nando's in terms of menu and pricing, with the exception of serving halal chicken only. I do have a couple of issues with Nando's in general, as I do find the food to be rather pricey for what it is, especially in a fast-casual environment, combined with the fact they do not have mayonnaise, discontinuing this in 2022 for a vegan alternative, but as far as Nando's locations go this one isn't too bad. The staff are pretty friendly, and they took allergies seriously, as with any Nando's location, the manager does take your order. Around 5-10 minutes after ordering, I was approached by a staff member who informed me that they only had one pack of gravy left which was opened, and advised that they normally use a new gravy for those with allergies, and it would be up to me whether I decided to have it or be refunded - They told me there wasn't a cross-contamination risk which makes me confused why they would even tell me in the first place if it made no difference! I ordered a 1/4 chicken with the maple and orange spice, with a side of peri chips and mash to go along with the gravy, even though the quarter chicken was a leg piece, there was a nice amount of meat, and it was reasonable quality. The mash was fine, but it did require a good stir as it was stuck together and likely microwaved, while the peri chips were up to the usual standard with a good helping of the peri salt. Friendly staff, fast service, and a "different" yet visually pleasing exterior compared to other Nando locations. 3*

This is one of two Subway locations in Leigh town centre, it is by far the smaller and poorer of…read morethe two locations. It is owned/run by SKS Ventures Ltd. Unlike the other branch on Parsonage Way, this store follows the old Subway layout, the one benefit this store has over the other is it is slightly closer to the town centre including the bus station and shops, being located near Boots on Bradshawgate. When I entered the store, I was told to wait with no explanation and I had to wait a couple of minutes to even be served, this made no sense as there were two staff members working, there was a man in a black shirt who I'm sure was a manager/supervisor but he seemed to make mistakes you'd associate with a trainee, not only making me wait (no one else was in the shop at the time) to the point I considered leaving but he also - Despite telling him my order more than once, confirming it, he didn't seem to listen, I must have asked him to add tuna 3 or 4 times before he finally realised it, due to the combination of tuna, ham and cheese. - He put my bread down on the counter with no sheet, this could have caused cross-contamination issues and just been unpleasant - He messed up the first set of bread, by ripping it, he went into the back to replace it, again with no explanation... (due to the gluten free bread being frozen it is hard to break apart sometimes) The store also wasn't clean, it just seemed dirty, with food around the edge of the containers, and the floor was a mess, which considering how quiet it was and the fact due to UK government legislation, people aren't dining in, making little sense. When I did get my sub, it was fine, it was average, I've had better and I've had worse, it was the typical price I'd pay of £4.89 so that wasn't too bad. 2* - Poor Subway Store in terms of service and cleanliness, I probably would use the other branch in Leigh in the future, which is also open later, that store closes at 9 pm while this location on Bradshawgate closes rather early, at 5 pm.

This Subway is located in the BP Garage on Bridgeman Place, in Bolton town centre, it is one of the…read morefew regular Subway's in Bolton with many other nearby being halal. The store/franchise is owned by Bridgeman Place Service Station, in which it is located. When I arrived, there were no staff members waiting, they all seemed to be in the back, it took shouting and starting to question if they were even open for a couple of minutes, to be served. Through the entire time of me being served, the two staff members and another staff member from the garage were talking to each other, very loudly in a foreign language, almost as if to shout, this made me feel really uncomfortable that they were not only shouting but speaking Swahili/Urdu, I didn't know what was going on! The prices here are much higher than normal too, a 6-inch tuna sub alone would cost £4.09 compared to the average £3.39 or so, a difference of 20%. I was able to use my Subway points as part payment which helped reduce the price, and they had no problem in letting me redeem my free survey free drink, however, the selection of drinks was limited and was basically Pepsi Max only, I don't understand why with the same owners having both the shop and the Subway they couldn't have moved drinks here, there were no ice tea bottles in the fridge or the machine. Shame. My sub was okay, I would have liked the cheese to have been melted better as it went clumpy and a little sweet. 2* - A nice location if you're on the go, or looking for a non-halal store in Bolton, but certainly not worth the price and I did feel uncomfortable while in the store due to issues with the staff, and the selection in terms of food/drink is slightly poorer than other regular branches too.
