My first search was honestly just Las Vegas Barber on TikTok and The Utopic Studio was the third video down. Immediately I was drawn to the way they presented their business, and their transparency about cutting hair, even tips and tricks! I immediately tried to book a last minute appointment on Sunday. I originally got booked with Marissa, and unfortunately her schedule just got booked. Thankfully to her and her team they made it work! I ended up with Taz the Barber, and may I say I left feeling brand new! I knew I wanted to try a drop fade but wanted to do something different with the top of my hair. Taz immediately knew what we could do and we went in. It's a studio with about 3 chairs, GREAT music choice, and the MOST WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT! Each barber KNOWS what they're doing. Again this is a barber STUDIO so they offer so many services! They have an elegance and vibe that is something of this era. If you are LGBTQ+ or not this is a safe space. My son's haircut took…read more90 minutes, and honestly, it probably would have gone on even longer if I hadn't finally settled for the outcome and decided that Fernando simply wasn't experienced enough to fix what had already been done. Fernando was nice, but unfortunately, he appeared to have very little experience cutting hair. I should have known from the dissatisfaction I noticed on the previous client's face when he left. Throughout the haircut, Fernando repeatedly asked if I was okay with my son's haircut. The problem was, to me, it wasn't even close to being finished. He sprayed my son's hair with water, but instead of combing it out properly, he immediately started cutting. I'm not a hairstylist, but I've taken my son for enough haircuts to know when something doesn't look right. This was, by far, the most inexperienced haircut I've ever seen him receive. I showed Fernando a picture of exactly what I wanted. What my son ended up with was nowhere close to the picture. I specifically pointed out that his bangs were uneven and asked him to fix them. Instead of fixing the uneven bangs, he continued cutting the left side of my son's hair. I eventually had to ask for someone else to come over and try to fix it because Fernando just couldn't get it cut properly --even with the reference picture right in front of him. I had to put an end to the haircut because I was afraid it was going to get cut way too short. My son hates short bangs, so I ultimately had to settle for a haircut that neither of us was happy with. Besides I could tell my son was absolutely getting restless, fed up and on the verge of tears. $30 for a butchered haircut and 90 minutes of frustration. I should have just driven across town and paid our regular barber $40 for a haircut that my son and I would have actually been happy with. I came here because I saw all the 5-star Yelp reviews and thought I'd give this place a try since it's less than 10 minutes from our house. Unfortunately, this experience was awful. Again, Fernando was nice, but being nice doesn't make up for a lack of skill and experience. I would not recommend getting a haircut from him.
