I've always managed to get an appointment if not with my doctor then with a doctor within the centre. And the staff from reception/admin to the nurse up to the doctors are friendly and basically do not treat you as a number but takes the time to give you the best service they can! This is an NHS medical centre and will take new patients within their area.

I'm not going to comment about individual services - with the NHS it can be entirely down to who you are due to see, about what and when. So, instead I'll concentrate on the facilities available and access: The hospital is served by at least 5 buses, but only the 261 and R1 actually enter the grounds. Most ward visiting hours tend to be 2-4pm and 6-8pm, though the nursing staff are pretty flexible if you give 'em advance warning. Visitors are pretty well catered for: there is a coffee bar and restaurant open during daytime hours, a newsagent which stays open longer and various vending machines. Tip: Finding a parking space at peak times is enough to give you a coronary however (as do the charges), so I recommend using the Sainsbury's car park next door. The hospital is pretty quick to get to from most places, as it is on the A21.

Poor service. I…read morewent to the urgent care centre and was very disappointed with the service I'm 17th weeks pregnant and was experiencing a lot of pain and feeling generally unwell. I was also worried about my unborn child. The dr that I saw was so pantronising. And spoke down to me as thou I had wasted her time, and was suggested that my pain was just due to growing pains! Please I dont choose to want to sit for two hours on my only day off to be told this. It turned out that I had uti. I asked the dr if she could check the baby's heartbeat as I was concerned she advised that they didn't offer this service due to patient misuse (which she was directing at me)!!! I have worked for the NHS for 18 years. And have never been so disappointed with the service.

All of the doctors are approachable and can help you through a range of problems. The inside atmosphere of the practice is clean, hygienic and colourful just as a doctors surgery should be. Everything about the surgery is good in almost every way, the doctors, receptionists and the nurses are all inviting and are kind in everything they say and do. I would highly recommend this surgery as a permanent one because it is the best.

Purley Whites. Isn't that a great name for a dentist?…read more As an aside, they started building a retirement complex in Purley a few years ago called Purley Gates, up in huge letters on a sign outside the building site, but the name got changed. I can't think why. Anyway. Purley Whites is a rare thing: a dentist that still takes on NHS patients. You do get limited appointments, with only private appointments in the evenings and at weekends, but that's a small price to pay to be on their books. The surgery is very clean and light, and the staff all do their utmost to put you at ease. It's always very easy to get check-up appointments, and they have you in and out in no time. Going to the dentist isn't anyone's idea of fun, but these guys at least manage to take some of the sting out of it for you.
