Shooter's roost has been my primary LGS for some time now. I used to frequent Flat Top Arms when I…read morefirst moved to this area but over time crew tired of the "good old boy" attitude there and being treated like a stranger or straight up ignored all the time even though I had purchased numerous firearms and plenty of ammo through them. Shooter's Roost and Eric on the other hand are always friendly, say hello, will chit chat if they have the time, and know what they are talking about when it comes to firearms. Something quite lacking with many of the staff at Flat Top. So Now Shooter's is my go-to LGS. Prices are always good and they won't gouge you like another place I know.

Some really beautiful guns, Kimbers, etc. They seem cheaper on guns than most any other place I've seen. I went to Flat Top Arms the same day and price compared and Flat Top was $100-400 higher on all their guns. However, like most places, Shooter's Roost was WAY high on ammo. They didn't have much of certain types in stock, like .380. Had lots of other kinds though, so just depends on shipments I guess. But way high -- $20/box for 20 rounds whereas I can get similar types of the same ammo for $11/box of 50 rounds at Cabela's in Charleston. Worth the drive to Charleston for sure to get your ammo. The staff here is great; very friendly, easygoing and knowledgeable.

It wasn't crowded while I was in there but I doubt I'd come to this store in Beckley again, it just really wasn't that great selection and price wise.

I've moved away from the area so when I saw there was a Gabe's here in Beckley, I made sure to stop. And was surely let down. What happened? Gabe's was always a discount store when it all is said and done, but this location looks really run down. The feel was just dim and dingy and things felt super messy. It felt more like a Dollar Store (vibe wise) than anything else. I didn't think the items were that "cheap" in terms of pricing nor did I think the brands were anything that warranted that pricing either. It all was just sort of, "meh". I browsed around for a few minutes and left sadly with nothing but being let down. Maybe it was just this location? Maybe it's Gabe's but I left super bummed about my experience here.
