Biz owner misleads to the point of lying and theft. Unethical biz practices - contractually legal,…read morebut financially immoral. Locking someone out the second you remind them you're moving out (which he already knew because we gave him plenty of notice!)??? I know the law front and back but I also know how this biz is supposed to be run if you're professional and care about your reputation - my family sold the largest chain of self-storage properties in the U.S. The owner was told we wanted to move out the first week of the month before late fees accrued because we were out of state - and never once said he was going to charge rent for the month anyway - we could easily have rearranged travel to feeding the cash cow for nothing. There's plenty of occupancy here - he doesn't need to lie and cheat. And failing to tell the truth and allowing someone to assume you're a decent human being when you know what they are expecting... is not only lying, it's theft. Biz is biz and contract law protects him and it's a petty amount anyway, but the ethics of this man is despicable. Transact biz biz with this liar and thief at your own risk. Even if it was $5 - a thief is a thief. Money is exchanged for value - and no value was given here. Thankfully, what goes around comes around, whether here or in the hereafter.
