The issue I have is that they refuse to authorize my pharmacy to a refill of a prescription for a low dose statin that their Dr. prescribed (for a one year term refilled every 90 days) without seeing me and getting new labs - In other words, they want me to pay for an appointment and new labs that my insurance will only cover once per year....because their employee left. But they have the labs, which is what providers use to determine whether the prescription is warranted. Statins are literally the most prescribed medication in the US and they have all the evidence to validate a simple refill but are trying to force me to pay a significant out of pocket expense to get it.

My husband drove me to the ER, but I was getting sick so violently I couldn't get out of the care. ER personnel came out to our car with a wheelchair, waiting patiently in the warm sun till the spasms were over. From the moment I was wheeled in, everything was handled calmly and orderly and kindly. It was a weekday morning so it wasn't really busy and I was seen in just a few minutes. I was wheeled back to the ER where the real work began. Now, I'm in pain and there are things that have to be done before they can deal with the pain. I was patient through that. I understand. And what they had to do...take blood, set up an IV, hook me up to monitors, etc was conducted with efficiency and gentle care. Then came the pain meds. One had to be "pushed" through my IV. Having gone to nursing school (but not graduating), pushing a med via an IV is an important skill and my ER had it! She explained all that would happen as the drug entered my body. She kept reinforcing her explanation as the drug began to take effect. I appreciated that! A second pain med had to be administered and by the time I was rolled to get a CT scan, I was feeling much better. The PA in the ER knew exactly what to, popped in frequently to check on me and practically held my hand as the stone passed. The facility was SPOTLESS. All the staff were calm and kind and seemed to really like being in the medical field, helping people. I usually have more questions than the average patient, and each person I came in contact with STOPPED and took time to answer all my questions. You don't want to have a medical emergency when you're on vacation. But I am truly thankful that Ascension Sacred Heart was close by for my needs. Great place. Great people.

I think this office forgets about their obligation to health first. I'm from California. I have received care from Cedars Sinai and doctors in Beverly Hills . This is added fee for a phone call is distasteful and comes off as arrogant. Another mother had warned me that they felt this practice thought too highly of themselves and forgot about the nobility of their profession: to care for children. The cost of treatment is HIGHLY inflated and not worth the abuse you get from this staff. They are taking advantage of the area that they are in. For example, a general appointment is $170, however, another pediatrician down the road was $90. I have since found a new pediatrician, as I would prefer to NEVER have to deal with this office again.
