I probably shop here 5 times a week. I like to eat fresh. The produce is generally very good quality. They try to cater for a range of wallets for example milk ranges from $2.00 for Mooloo or Farmers Fresh to the more expensive Barambah organics line. They try to provide good service to older customers who make up quite a signficant proportion of the shoppers in Ashgrove still. (They have not yet all been gentrified out of the suburb.)
I have noticed that there has been a move away from the huge bins of softdrink and fruit juices which I applaud. The counters are still encroahed by sweet temptations which must be a bit difficult for shoppers with young children.
There is a strong deli range and wide selection of cheeses and dips.
Good buys are usually sweet potatoes, onions, tomatoes, spuds and fresh herbs, often in pots you can plant out. Pawpaw, pineapples and apples, and tinned and dried beans are cheap. I just made about 3 litres of napoli sauce for under $5.00 (onions and tomatoes from the bargain rack.)
They usually have lovely buckets of roses and lillies at the entrance too.
I recommend. read more
