I love a proper bakery. I'm sure there used to be hundreds of them, now there doesn't seem to be quite so many. So it's always a treat when you find a good one. You know the kind - the type with cream cakes and sausage rolls, and lots of loaves of bread on the shelves behind the counter?
This is that kind of bakery. The sausage rolls and Scotch pies are particularly good and they sell them hot and cold, I guess so you can heat them up later yourself. I've not tried the cream cakes but my partner was very happy with the cream rings they sell and the eclairs look amazing.
They also have a cold drinks fridge, and a small stand selling oatcakes and jams and marmelades. There's no seating but it's an ideal place to pick up some lunch on the go, especially if you need something to warm you up. read more
