Drumtochty Castle

Drivers know that it is a common event space so they know how to get there, as it's kinda out there. Wedding venue - stunning. The atmosphere, backdrop, and like everything honestly was really stunning. Historic chapel is about a 10-15 min walk down the road and was a beautiful setting for an intimate wedding. Reception and other events were held in the castles common spaces and well executed by the castle team. Food, overall, was solid. There were some dishes that were much better than others, and only a couple dishes that were just okay. However, the team is very friendly and accomodating, and essentially advised us to treat the castle like out own home. Grounds also featured a few activities like scotch tasting and clay shooting, which were fun to partake in and unique to have available. Lodging venue - really nice venue overall for lodging. Castle is split into main building as well as east and west wings. There are countless bedrooms so you can definitely fit a bunch of people inside. Our room was west wing at the top. Very large with a comfortable bed and full closet to hang things up. We peaked at other rooms and they all varied - some were small, others medium.
A billion stars for Drumtochty. Everything about our wedding was a hundred times better than we…read moreexpected it to be. The afternoon tea, the waitstaff, the food, the castle itself: they all blew us away. We had exactly one major issue and that's that the hot water went out the first night in the main castle, but we got it fixed in the morning and the wings still had hot water for everyone to use. Other than that, everything was absolutely perfectly executed and I'd recommend booking here to anyone who was looking. The team was top notch and everything was SO easy and smooth. None of our friends and family have had such a smooth experience with their weddings. Get married here. 1000/10. It's so amazing in person if you can't visit before booking just save the surprise for later. It's worth it.

Called Luigi's, it is handy for the…read morewestern end of Aberdeen, as also the commuter town of Westhill, as evidenced by the fact that it is quite popular on weekends. I've been there a few times, generally on Saturdays or Sundays, and I like it. The food is good quality and the service is efficient. The menu is also quite diverse, though obviously mostly Italian as promised by the name. The choice of wines on offer are decent, too. The staff are generally obliging - one visit there I was with an eccentric companion (lovely but a bit barmy, occasionally ate like a horse, but BMI firmly under 19 ) who decided to start with a main course, then ordered another, and when I was looking at desserts, asked for a starter. The staff hid their smiles well and got us our orders without a murmur. If there is one criticism, it's the lighting which can be a bit halogen-harsh, although I noticed last month that they were improving this. The general decor is a little dark and heavy, so strident illumination tends to jar. The restaurant has little side-booths which are better and softer lit. The menu advertises the Albyn restaurant, which I've reviewed on Qype - I'm not sure what the link is, but given the quality of the food, I wouldn't be surprised at all if I heard that they shared management or kitchen. Approximately £50 for two with a couple of drinks. Nae bad, I'd say, for what you get.

After an hour of wondering around we went back to the hotel's restaurant to get an amazing portion and well cooked fish and chips, and one of the most amazing sticky toffy puddings I have ever had (and believe me I have had a lot). Castle of Park
Wow. That about sums it up…read more This castle is the real deal. Built in the 16th century, you will have an authentic castle experience. The rooms are lovely. You have access to the great hall, a billiards room, library, and lounging room. The grounds are gorgeous and wonderfully well kept. It would be a great place for a wedding. I was there with my wife and parents-in-law and we had a wonderful time. Spoiled us for the rest of our trip. Rebecca, the Laird of the Castle and our host, was fantastic. She was extremely friendly and helpful. She had great advice on how to spend our two days, set up tours for us at various sites, cooked delicious breakfast made to order (and vegetarian/vegan friendly). We liked her cooking so much we booked dinner with her our second night. She regaled us on the history of the castle and generally was a joy to spend time with. Her son gave us an adventurous and animated tour of the grounds. And we had beautiful highland cows to keep us company as well. Their website has great info on staying there. And google maps gives accurate directions.
