I admit, I had ZERO idea what bannock is, but my kid had heard of this small cafe and she really…read morewanted to try it, so who am I to say no?!! Reading the other reviews, I see I'm not alone in stopping here en route to Penticton (it's a good mid-point for a break). There's a small parking strip on the side of the building. I love supporting smaller shops and cafes, and this particular one is indigenous-owned so it seems extra special! Love the motto, too: "Don't panic..We have bannock!". Cute! The cafe is small but clean, with Indigenous artwork on the walls. Of course we ordered bannock! I ordered a maple one, and my kid ordered a berry one (might've been the Saskatoon berry, I forget). I'll be honest, they were absolutely delicious, and fresh, and fluffy and sweet and glazed, but mine absolutely did NOT have much of a maple taste - like, AT ALL. It was like the glaze on a Krispy Kreme glazed donut. Delicious, yes, and sugary, but not maple-y. My kid's berry one was very subtle in its berry flavor. Again, excellent, but not knock-out berry-y. To me, these treats were similar to donuts without the holes. More like fluffy fritters. Delicious, but not as unique as I thought they'd be. As for the coffees....my maple latte, again, sadly, did not taste at ALL maple-y. But it was an excellent coffee: very smooth and flavorful. You could tell the beans were excellent. There just was no maple taste. But my kid had a berry latte (again, I forget what kind), but this drink was EXCELLENT and it totally DID have a distinct berry flavor to it, and it was wonderful! (We both tried both bannocks and both lattes, and we both agreed on this review). We didn't try the sandwiches but they looked quite good. They also had some cute Kekuli Cafe merch for sale.

Wow! We came in for a quick snack on our drive back to Vancouver from the Okanagen and were blown…read moreaway! We got the maple glazed, the Saskatoon berry, and a couple of cinnamon bitz and they were all amazing. I had to leave before I kept buying and eating more! So good. I would love to come back!

This minimalist cafe overlooking the university and the city's North Shore is a great new addition…read moreto the Kamloops coffeescape. To be honest, I'm a little cheesed that I didn't think of this myself! In close proximity to the university, which notoriously serves sludge disguised as coffee and even caters to local businesses surrounding it. If only I had a time-machine... My standard monday-funday order is the Americano, made with Vancouver's own parallel49 beans and the chocolate croissant. At one time, I favored the Belgian waffle but upon having it served to me frozen solid (twice), I moved on to something less...pre-packaged. The sandwiches and other baked goods are good, but what you really want to go here for is the coffee. If you're in the mood for something new, try the nitrogen-infused coffee. Served in something resembling a champagne-flute, it'll give you the fancy feeling you inwardly desire while also serving up the caffeine kick in the butt you desperately need.

We came in here for a snack and some outlets to charge up our phones and laptops. The coffee bar…read morehad easily reachable outlets (turns out that some towns that I've been passing through lately either have the outlets too far away from the coffee bar or don't have any at all in the whole place?!) and the WiFi was super fast (again some towns I've recently been in on my road trip do NOT have okay WiFi; some offer it but it doesn't load at all). So I've been extra appreciative of decent work places and speedy internet. :) I had a thai chicken wrap (which was yummy!) and something to drink, forgot what, and the boyfriend had a carnivore wrap and a milkshake with two shots of espresso. He says the wrap was okay, and the milkshake was pretty good.

Yes you got it. I'm a Timmies fan. Even if the donuts are not freshly made like they used to in…read morethe glory days. Even if the company that used to make the donuts in Eastern Canada is not longer owned by Tim Horton's. What is going on here? Well, even if all of Tim's in not so much a Horton Hears a Who, then what is it that attracts me? Convenience at 6 am in the morning or the 24 hour operations and the fact that they're everywhere where a Starbucks wouldn't dare go. Can you imagine a Starbucks trying to peddle it's over priced coffee and Java accessories in a small town in Canada? No..... Certainly hope not. They can stay in the big cities. Timmies is perfect for small towns like Merritt, BC. So much so, I even think they become local flavours in the town. Lots of tourists driving through seek out Timmies to get their fill of donuts and coffee. We love to order our double double's and Timbits. It's the sugar and the caffeine that keeps drivers awake on those all nighter drives accross the country. This trip to Timmies, I was just driving through to Adams River to see the once in a lifetime Salmon Spawning. Nothing has been this big in about 100 years. So in we go to Timmies, groggy with sleep in our eyes and needing some food. I had my double cream medium coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Nice thing is I can practically order what I like to eat. Customizing my breakfast sandwich is easy. Don't want the biscuit, change it to an English muffin or a bagel. Want lettuce? Tomato? No problem. The staff here are very nice. Nicer even than the staff at the Chilliwack location that I always go to. And they're also very accomadating to the rally car guys who invade this town every year for their annual Pacific Forest Rally. Great little town and great Timmies!

Also I've had loaded bowls all over British Columbia and this Timmies has to be the worst about portions.
