This is a lot more than I've ever paid for a hair cut, but I liked the convenience of booking online and didn't want to call around for availability. So my hair got washed, dried out, then straightened, and finally cut. I asked for a straight cut along the back and layers. It's been a long time, maybe four years or so since my last hair cut because I had bad experiences when I went with my mom out to the salon so I know I have plenty of split ends. I wanted layers to help get rid of some of the extra split ends and I felt layers would help justify the extra cost. She didn't ask how long it's been since my last hair cut, but asked about if I went to bed with wet hair and if I had well water. I do sometimes go to bed with wet hair but I use tons of conditioner. We have filters on our well water. It was weird since the length of time since my last hair cut would be the biggest factor in split ends, especially since I used to have layers kind of high up. She declined to put in layers as she felt my hair needed to recover more and get more density. The salon is pretty open airy and seemed well kept. I also didn't like that they asked if I wanted to tip out loud at the end. I've never even been asked if I wanted to tip after a hair cut, especially an expensive one. I did tip a bit since I felt put on the spot. My stylist was very friendly and surprisingly fast. I was in and out of the hair salon in under 30 minutes. The stylists were all very chatty and it seemed like they enjoyed their work. They are very inquisitive. I appreciate that the areas seemed cleaned well and felt hygienic. My haircut came out decent and was badly needed since my hair was really long. I agreed to get more cut off than I wanted to as I'm hoping she's right and that it'll be healthier for my hair. Overall it was an okay experience. Since it was much better than my previous experiences I'll try to get a hair cut sooner than this time.

For me, the stylists at Sandra's (especially Sandra) are all long-term-relationship-worthy. They're sweet, know their stuff and want to please clients. Great cuts and color. Recently, a friend was in town and mentioned she hated her current haircut. I snapped a pic to confirm and we were definitely on a straight path to fixing it. I called Sandra's to see if we could get in but that was a resounding 'no'. (Great stylists + many clients + Saturday = not happening.) Sandra offered up a new stylist I hadn't heard of: Michael Ahmeti. Okay, sold. Michael is fabulous. He fixed my friend's botched cut with such ease that I booked an appointment for highlights on the spot. He is personal in that he wants you to be completely happy but will not let you try to achieve something you saw in a photo if it's impossible. (Example: he told my friend, "You have a beautiful neck but a short cut is not happening. No.") Back to my appointment: while my (flawless) highlights were processing, he checked on me regularly, explained next steps, etc. The color processed perfectly, no toning, correcting, etc. the cut was amazing and the blowout was selfie-worthy. I googled Michael after leaving the salon and Yelp reviews from his past salon were amazing. He's a certified gem. How he landed in Granville is a mystery/blessing. Final thoughts: I did post a selfie after my appointment and comments ranged from "love this!" to "this is so pretty I want to scream!"

He also got me an appointment on short notice at a time that worked for me. He's very responsive to customer needs and really builds your confidence, which is half the battle when getting your hair done. :) Just a logistics FYI - when you call the number, you don't get a receptionist. You will get a list of phone numbers and names so you can book directly with the stylist. Have a pencil/paper ready! Very happy with my experience and I will definitely come back again.

This is the first time in all my years that I have ever complained about a hair salon on one of…read morethese sights. The first time I went to this salon (new customer) was in June for highlights only. I loved the way the stylist colored my hair. The highlights were great. It was time for another coloring and cut so I went back to this salon in September. This time I asked for different color and highlights and a cut. I showed her a picture of what I was looking for as far as coloring and highlights. What I got was a lot darker than what I showed her in the picture. The cut was just ok. I paid the bill and gave her a nice tip. I really couldn't tell until I got home, not sure if it was the lighting differences in the salon and home, but the front of my hair from the top middle of my head to my bangs were a solid dark color. The sides and back of my hair had highlights. It was not blended highlights over my entire head. I called the next day and talked to the stylist. She acted very surprised. Since I work I am unable to come until late afternoon and she didn't have weekend appointment available. I had to wait a week ( I felt she could have made an exception in adjusting her schedule since she had an unhappy customer) anyway I waited another week. When I got there I asked her if she could see the sold dark color in the front with no highlights and she said yes. She sectioned off my hair and used the foils for the highlights in front. It was about 30 to 40 minutes later she took out the foils and shampooed my hair. While she was drying my hair, I noticed my color in the front had not changed at all. No highlights at all, period! It looked exactly the same as the first time. I have never had a problem with any stylist doing a color and highlights, or the highlights not taking to my hair. She offered to put bleach on my hair and I declined. The entire time I was there I had a frosty reception like it was me that did something wrong or that for whatever reason she was upset that I had come back about this. She did not charge me(that was decent of her) . There was never an apology given and she never acted like she even cared what happened. I know I wasn't an established customer there. Maybe she has so many regular customers that one doesn't matter. I will never go back to that salon after my experience. I know it's just hair and it's not the end of the world but when you are paying and tipping for a service you should be satisfied with the end result.
