I informed him that I would be the oldest person in there by 20 years and he would be the oldest by 40 years and that would have been true had there been anyone else there. But no. To be fair it was 8pm on a Thursday night and the Faces crowd don't usually turn up for a couple more hours so I don't think that's typical. But anyway... Once my eyes had got accustomed to the retina-burning neon pink and blue decor I sat at the bar to choose my drink. It's a cocktail bar, what better than a martini right? Ummmm, no. The 12 year old barman said 'sorry we don't do martinis, we don't have any vermouth'. This is like going to a sushi bar and them saying 'sorry no fish' - genuine WTF moment right there. So I had a bellini in a plastic champagne glass. The boss expressed some surprise at this but I told him it's probably for the best when your clientele is the 'quantity over quality, belligerent binge-drinker' type. The last thing you need when you dare to look at someone funny in the girl's toilets is for them to have a dangerous weapon in hand. I also had a cosmopolitan. In a plastic martini glass. With a straw so you can get it down your neck quicker. Awesome. We decided to leave having been there for an hour with no further patrons walking through the door. But don't listen to me - if you're 18, sporting five inch heels and a mahogany spray tan and are looking to get liquored up in order to bag a footballer then this is the place for you. I will say one thing though. I'm old enough to remember the 80s FIRST TIME ROUND and nothing was this '80s' even then. I mean check out the sign! It should say 'Cocktails (except martinis) and Dreams'. And I can't give a good score to a bar that plays Phil Collins. I'm off to the pub for a gin and tonic IN A PROPER GLASS.

The Seven Kings of yesteryear is now lost in the wind, except for the lovely gem of a place that is O'Gradys. Irish Bars are everywhere. They're often pretty annoying, and not very Irish at all. But O'Gradys is the exception to the rule. Irish-owned, many Irish staff and is frequented, in the main, by the Irish. I'm not Irish, at least not fully - but I am really comfortable here. It has a real friendly, family vibe to it; even when it's crammed full of people on a Saturday night. I should warn you that if the Irish Rugby or football team are playing, you're going to have a hard time getting to the bar. It's worth it though. If you're Irish, this will feel like home; as opposed to many of the Irish bars in Central London which feel just like the Irish bars in New York or in Ibiza or wherever; just a stupid ploy to get the English and Irish to spend their money. I've had some fun nights here; and as I touched upon previously; it's just nice to find somewhere in the Ilford area that isn't tainted by attitude. I wouldn't necessarily make the trip out to Essex especially; but if you're in the area you could do a lot worse than go to O'Gradys.

After running after trains and buses (bare footed in the filthy streets of East London) trying to get to this club before 11:30, we were then told that the guest list had been cancelled. Fair enough. We then had to wait a further 30 minutes to get inside and then we were told that we had to pay £10 and an extra £2 if we had on jackets (which was compulsory). I was slightly annoyed but didn't let it ruin my night. The venue itself was okay. It was spacious and you could dance freely. The crowd of people that were there were mostly 18 24 so if your into more mature surroundings I don't think this place is for you :D. Considering it was a Africans v Caribbeans night the music was mostly, Afrobeats, Bashment, Reggae, Soca with some R&B and Hip-Hop (which I thoroughly enjoyed.) You don't really need to dress up. It's more casual but nice (however ladies, definitely put on those heels!) To sum it all up it was a really good night out. No fights! Just everybody having a good time! You'll def find me jumping around in here when Feedback are playing, they are a great covers band playing anything from The Who through to Kings of Leon. Some of the other bands are great too check out the website for listings. Prices are cheap, free to get in if your early, £3 if not, cloakroom is free, drinks are usual pub prices. There is a car park but its small and gets full early. Nearest station is Seven Kings (5 min walk). I go here about once a month and have never had a bad night, the only thing I would say is wear flat shoes as plenty of dancing = crippled feet if wearing stilettos, I speak from experience!

The drinks wasn't too expensive it was average priced considering it is just outside London, but now the downside to this night club is you got to sign up to a membership on the door which costs £30 I believe, this one membership allowed all of us entry which was a party of around 10+ but we still had to pay the entrance fee on top of that which was £10 each. The problem is they don't make you aware that you have to sign up on their website if you haven't been before, the doormen make up the rules as they go along I think because I see other people walk through without showing a membership.

This O'Neills is quite small and get's really busy. It's quite difficult to move around without bumping into someone and takes agaes just to get to the toilet (of which only has 2 cubicles). The drink prices are a bit high and personally I would rather go to a different O'Neills!! On the plus side, it's lovely for lunch during the day, they do get some really good live bands there and they have a garden so you can pop out for a smoke or just go outside to cool down without leaving the venue.
