Even more convenient than our local one in Bolton, this one is an even shorter walk for me with other shops and services located in the West Swindon District Centre. However, once you get inside, you do realize that the ASDA store isn't just contained in one part of the centre. There are multiple entrances to the centre with a couple different car parks, just be aware that in one of the car parks, there is only one way to enter and one way to exit, so if you exit incorrectly from the roundabout, you'll have to go around again.
The most noticeable and probably important part is the food section of ASDA. It is the largest part of the centre and does include a small clothing section, seasonal items (including items out front of the store), bath and bed items, pet supplies and food, OTC meds and beauty items. If you look around you'll see three other ASDA store fronts, one for Electronics and Kitchen Items, another for the pharmacy, and the last has newspapers and magazines. While it is nice that they do offer these items, the downside is that they are all separate and if you are not familiar with the store, you may think either 1) they don't have what you are looking for or 2) you have to finish your shop in one store and go to the other to get the additional items. I ended up having to do this as I was looking for some tea/coffee cups, but started my shop in the grocery store because the only sign above the store that has the kitchen items is 'Electronics'. As I looked through the bed and bath section, I realized that they didn't have kitchen items. I did my shop, paid, and took a peek into the window of the electronics part to see if they might have what I was looking for. It did, but then I needed another transaction.
Considering it is in a centre with other stores and services (dry cleaners, Costa, hair salons & barbers, McDonalds, cash points, a newsagent, Post Office) is what actually makes it more convenient. The grocery part of ASDA is a bit cozy in some places, making it a bit difficult to make your way around, but they do have a deli, bakery, and fishmonger and you can usually get everything you need. They do have a small World Foods section mostly focused on Polish, Indian, Mexican, and Chinese. There are usually sale, clearance, and seasonal items in the center of the centre, just outside of the ASDA entrance... most recently I have seen clearance clothing and outdoor/gardening supplies. Because it is in the West Swindon Centre, it is not a 24-hour store, it closes at 10 p.m. on weekdays, but there are plenty of 24-hour superstores around if you are really in a pinch. read more
