The store is within walking distance of the town centre and has a wide range from toys to home furnishings, food to alcohol, gardening to medicines. Beware, it's one of those stores where you will visit for one thing and leave with 5 carrier bag fulls (packed by the staff, of course!).

They have a cafe inside that serves nice food at good prices. You can sometimes find things here that you can't at other stores. When you walk in to the store the cafe is on the left hand side and the cash desks on the right. You have to walk past the cash desks to the other end of the shop to get in to the shopping area. The store is well laid out with lots of good quality products, however it does get very busy and there is never enough checkout staff to meet the demand meaning you are often left queueing and the staff are less then helpful, they never offer bags or help to pack and leave you stood there with your goods yet in a bag whilst they start serving the next customer.

And the staff were all amazingly helpful. Have health issues so they took me from building to building. At the end, I preferred to ship my purchases home to the U.S. and Jonathan very kindly provided choices and made the arrangements. Hemswell would be A1 just on size and content, but is A111 thanks to their incredible customer service! Worth getting to when you're in the UK!

I have to say 2.5 stars the last time I went to the cafe, the young lady who was placing mugs on trays literally had her hands inside the mugs as she was placing them and handing them to people. As this was very unhygienic I did say something to her, and she was removed from doing that. I would've thought perhaps Pennells would have better training and supervision in place for their young employees! Anyways, it's popular with the older folks and a nice day out for all!

They sent out a Homeserve guy..said he'd seen a few of these and I should have been advised of the pilling issue but it was not s manufacturing defect. Yes it was a sitting on the fabric defect. I didn't buy them to look at they are for sitting on..so right now I'm stuck with a badly pilling sofa. Buoyant said it's Clayton's problem, Clayton say Buoyant tested the fabric so it doesn't pill. So now I'm having to pay for independent testing from my own pocket. The sofa looks older than my old one I changed it for. It's so depressing and demoralising. They keep fobbing me off. Please do not trust these people they were lovely whenthey were taking my money..now theres a real issue , it's nothing to do with them When the Homeserve guy came out it was bad enough..now it's an absolute disgrace and it's 5 months old
