This is a beautiful, peaceful, well manicured resting place. There's a very famous person, on the far back left side. I'm not gonna tell you who, but it was one of the most watched event come on in the United States television history. We sometimes go there to visit loved ones. We have a friend buried here. We like to come once a year or so when we visit the area. From what I see, it's a nice and peaceful place. Always well kept. The hours aren't always convenient and once we came at an obvious time they should have been open and they weren't. Aside from that, it's a nice place to visit and reflect. I visit a lot of cemeteries and you could do a lot worse than this one. read more

They are closed on days when they should be open. The groundskeeping is terrible, if we didn't maintain our sons grave it would be overgrown with crabgrass and tractor marks on the tombstone. This place does not care about those who have passed on or the grace due to their memory and grave site. Catholic or not, bury your loved ones elsewhere. read more

Multiple bad experiences with them. The only good experience is when they don't do anything. Have had them remove things from my brother's niche after I have contacted them NOT to when I decorated for his birthday (on multiple occasions). Poor communication between the workers obviously and they probably just don't care enough. Very rude security (who they fairly recently hired as he wasn't here the last 4 years). Was told not to laugh by security guard because it's "disrespectful". Like I'm not allowed to laugh and reminisce about my brother. Some workers clearly do not want you to celebrate life here, just mourn your losses. Great site but the workers don't measure up. read more

They don't take care of anything and visiting hours are so limited. The people that work here are so dull. If I could take my sister out of here I would. Trash on the floor, but they won't hesitate on taking your decorations down. read more

I went here with my daughter to pay respects to my mama, who has been buried here for 40 years. We got there after 4:30, ( they close at 5, ) As we were walking to the Gates a couple minutes before 5, apparently the groundskeeper locked them, so we were locked in!! Very upsetting and traumatic experience. We were clearly visible in our white jackets, he saw us, and next thing I know we are locked in!! I came 900 miles from Portland, Oregon, to visit my mama's grave, and see where I used to live, and could not believe they locked us in!! There was no way to get out!! I had to call the police and we were stuck there for 45 minutes!! Security didn't care at all, and at first the officers said they would have to call the fire department to break the padlock, but thankfully one officer was able to pick the lock!! Hooray!! Thank you Orange County Police Officers!! And thank you to the very nice, kind man Joseph, who came along in his mail truck and stayed with us until the police came!! He was an angel. My daughter and I were traumatized and very upset being locked in a cemetery. That should NEVER happen . Very mean and hateful people working there. No compassion whatsoever. Especially at Christmas time. The opposite of Christ like behavior. read more

Both of my parents are buried here. I can't believe this is a Yelp location, but I am happy to contribute in case anyone is searching. I am doing my best to spend the weekend thinking of my Mom and praying for her as well as her help and I hope if anyone comes looking for guidance, my review will help you make the right decision, one way or another. My Mom passed away rather suddenly 14 years ago. My Dad took care of all the details and chose Ascension Cemetery as her final resting place. She is buried under the large tree on the right side, close to the cul-de-sac; and so is he. My Dad passed away December 12, 2009, 11 years after Mom. You can find their headstones - actually, it is one now, there under the tree. They are Joe and Marianne and have an amazing love story meant for the ages. The picture I chose for the stone speaks a thousand words. My Mom was a devout Catholic and loved the church and everything it stood for. She served as a reader during Mass and attended daily Mass 6 days a week. She was also a docent at the Mission San Juan in San Juan Capistrano. My Dad was a true saint on earth. He was an amazing man who took care of his family in ways we were completely unaware of until his death. He was intensely private and I have since learned the glory of that path. My Mom and Dad met when they were 16 and 18 years old. They married 2 years later and were together until my Mom died 36 years later. My Dad managed to survive without her due to much family and friend support and went on to live those extra 11 years in relative peace. When he *did* die it was no less a struggle to get through. As I sifted through the many MANY boxes of pictures I was plagued by the emails I had written to the director at Ascension telling her I would be in touch regarding my Dad's headstone. It hit me that they should maybe be placed together on one stone as they were buried next to one another. I double checked with my siblings making sure it would be ok and once they were all on board I moved ahead with getting Dad his rightful name. To this day I do NOT regret making that decision. If you take the time to go see the headstone under the big tree shading my Mom and Dad you can see why I was so very happy this was a decision I am proud to have made. They were married. They had 5 children (and 7 pregnancies). My Mother was a devout Catholic and led me to be the person I am today. My Father put up with many levels of living hell and stayed honerable through every one of them. I am happy to tell you that if you look for the Lacko headstone you will, indeed, witness two people who were madly, truly, sincerely in love and won't regret that search. And all who are looking for the 'right' place to go when you are done with this earth, or for those loved ones you need to help with- this is a wonderful cemetery. They all care about you and want to be there for you. I promise you that. read more

For being next to a major street, the cemetery is very quiet. However, there is only a single road to park along the side so if it's a particular busy day, you might have to walk far or even park outside the cemetery along the street there. read more

Very nice cemetery I go to cemeteries often to reflect and think about all the people before and after me. I decided to go here after reading Laura's lovely review and sharing the story of her parents. I did find their grave and thought about how many different family and love stories there are hidden behind each of these graves and I was happy to know a little bit about at least one of them. I recently buried someone here The service provided at this Catholic Cemetery was good. The paperwork was completed on time and there was a representative at the grave side the day of the service to assist with any questions. My only issue was they were going to charge for a priest. The priest was going to be there for 30 minutes and was going to charge $250.00. I think in a time of sorrow where you are spending a large amount of money for a burial that this Catholic cemetery should not charge a grieving family for a use of a priest. $250.00 for a half hour comes out to $500 an hour. Sorry Father I know most attorneys don't charge that. read more
