The sushi at Fresh Sushi is indeed fresh, but also a fusion of local foods and produce. Pukekohe…read morebeing a veritable bread basket for Auckland City. The thing I love about this eatery is that the food is honestly good, tasty and priced very competitively. I would certainly pay more to eat this sushi and would pay less for other sushi around town, as other do not compare for taste, value for money or portion sizes. Fresh Sushi do not scrimp on salmon, chicken or avocado and the rice content in each of their sushi rolls is far less than inferior sushi sellers. The row in the salmon sushi is fresh and pleasantly pops when eaten. This is great for me as I go to the gym and prefer lean protein and salads over carbs!! The fusion element of what would be traditional sushi is that the chicken and beef is fried as in Katsu. The fat content is obviously higher, but eaten in the appropriate portions and in combination with an exercise plan, is not a bother. The only problem I have is that my will power just melts away and I usually end up buying two packs of 8 pieces. So much for willpower. Also available on the menu are Katsu meals. Teriyaki meals, Donburi, Tempura and Nigiri. I might try those one day. But for now I'm happy to feed my sushi addiction here...for me, no other sushi joint gives me the feeling of culinary indulgence as Fresh Sushi in Pukekohe.

They have ample seating for diners so they can accommodate a lot of people and groups would enjoy the spacious layout here. Its located right next to the Amersham Way entrance to Westfield Manukau so there's tonnes of free parking if you're stopping by for a meal before a spot of shopping- nice and convenient! Their miso soup is delicious. I've become accustomed to miso over the past couple of years and Kyoto does one of my favourites. I've tried their katsu and it tastes great; its perfect for someone like me who's not quite ready to go all the way with ramen or anything too out of my element. They also have a good range of entrees, and I'm a little obsessed with their snow peas. Prices at Kyoto are pretty reasonable and you can get a dinner for two with drinks for about $50-$60.

Sashimi - never arrived so can't comment. Service - friendly but oh so slow and in a restaurant that was far from full. Overall very disappointing and not crying out for a repeat visit but as always I'll give it at least one more try just to be sure.

It was really good, so we decided to order in and we ordered katsu chicken curry extra chicken and the chicken was really fresh and the curry was yum . As for today, my husband ordered his curry katsu chicken again and I ordered garlic chicken. My husband got the same thumbs up for the fresh chicken and the curry. Except for my garlic chicken, the rice was really good but the chicken was a bit dry. My husband devoured his good and finished mine. Then we ordered an yakisoba noodles plate. Now that was really good too. We heard him cooking this dish right after we ordered. This place is really good you will not be disappointed.

I'm a sucker for $5 deals so when I saw sushi boxes for $4, I almost died hahah…read more Came across this gem of an establishment on the infamous K Street just between Queen and Liverpool. Location is prime for students, corporate heads and maybe some daytime boozers. My girlfriend and I stumbled upon this place on our way to inspect an apartment in CBD (I wouldn't recommend it) when we walked pass Nuri Maru and saw the $4 box deals. Whaaaat!? 4 bucks!?! We had about 10-minutes before inspection but I didn't want to miss out on that chicken karaage box or the spam masubi or the assorted salmon sushi. Soooo we detoured right inside. Pretty fun atmosphere you'd come to find at a typical Korean-style sushi restaurant - there was even a giant flat screen TV with K-Pop (Korean Pop) music videos on haha. We paid for our boxes and took a seat when a lovely lady from behind the counter asked if we wanted Miso Soup. I declined at first thinking she was trying to upsell me even after we had already paid. But then I noticed the beautiful sign that read "Free Miso for every $5 purchase" or something like that.. I saw "FREE" "Miso" and "$5" so I that's all I cared about. I quickly retracted my declination and said with conviction "YES!" She asked if we wanted two (one for my gf I guess haha).. Again, I said "YES!" as I nodded my head like an Asian school boy. Everything was surprisingly good for something that's been sitting out for who knows how long. The salmon roll was especially delicious - it had that milky, soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture.. mMMMmMmmM We're definitely coming back again.. maybe tomorrow since we have another inspection in the area hahah
